I've always been into Jazz but recently, I really have gotten into it. Coltrane, Brubeck, some name I can't remember. yeshs.

Heard it on the radio, loved it from then on. That was when I was about five. But I've only really started to take an interest in it for about a year or so.

Mine was a very strange way to be introduced to it I think. I watched the episode of The Muppet Show where Dizzy Gillespie was the guest star. I was hooked after that.

Rico_Winters Mine was a very strange way to be introduced to it I think. I watched the episode of The Muppet Show where Dizzy Gillespie was the guest star. I was hooked after that. There have been quite a few jazz artists on the muppet show or was it Sesame Street?

i got into jazz by shear mistake...or was it cause i was there at the time...wel anyway it was last year and i was first playing tenor t-bone then this junior i beat in marching band got honors cause he was a bass player....i thought i could get in if i converted to bass....i didn't...instead they put me in jazz band..and i have been happier ever since....and now that it is coming up to the next year...i beat the same guy and he is stuck in second band and i am still in jazz smile

yeah, i wasn't into jazz until this year ^^
started taking jazz sax lessons, when my classical teacher retired.

I got to jazz through drums. The more I looked for professional drummers the more I realized that the jazz drummers were all the best along with many other instruments. Buddy Rich is the champion.

i guess that i really got interested in jazz when i was in 4th grade i think, my oldest brother had a glen miller cd and when i heard it i was like "oo this is really good. what is it?"
and my bro said "its called jazz" so i guess thats how i got hooked on jazz. in 7th grade i started to actually play jazz and thats when i fell in love with the tenor sax. and ive been playing and listening to jazz ever since. ^_^

looking back, I think listening to tenors on the tv or w/e made me pick sax : )
I was fascinated by lower sounds.
