Sho-Totoron ~2chaos2~ laFred Ah, I tried watching West Side Story once, but I couldn't take it seriously.you have to get through they gay snapping lol IT IS NOT GAY. IT IS NOT MEANT TO BE EXACTLY LIKE REALITY. Of course it isn't, it's a musical! So they snap their fingers a lot, so what? That's the same as saying bursting into song is gay, which, by the way, I find very offensive. As has been said, gay is not an insult. Well said!
Gay isn't an insult. It's a type of gender preference, just like being a lesbian. But people don't use lesbian as a common insult, so why use gay? It's stupid, so don't use it as an insult. stressed

Heidi80 For me it's Rent, Hair, Moulin Rouge and Phantom Definitely. (: Except I'm not a huge fan of Phantom - my friend is a majorly obsessed "Phan" so I can only take so much of her talk of orange marmalade and sexy acid-faced men that could be her father.
I'm sort of trying to get into Wicked - my friend sent me some of the songs, and when she gets back from California will (hopefully) send me the rest. I'm not highly impressed so far, but everyone seems to love it so much, I feel I should atleast give it a chance.

Musicals besides RENT I love? Here are my current favourites:
Wicked (I listened to a friend singing Thank Goodness online, fell in love with the music, became obsessed (particularly with Idina, which led me to RENT), and saw it live May 13th on tour) Avenue Q (saw it with the OLC...one of the best casts I have /ever/ seen...incredible!) The Drowsy Chaperone (Won lottery tickets last week in NYC...cast was as good as Avenue Q, and the whole show just blew me away) Into the Woods Les Miserables (saw it in London this summer!) The Last Five Years Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Crazy For You Kiss Me Kate The Lion King (on tour) The Wizard of Oz Aida, Chicago, West Side Story, Ragtime, Sunday in the Park with George (London!), My Fair Lady, etc, etc, etc.

Does it have to be a broadway musical? Because I love Moulin Rouge and that's not on Broadway but it's still a musical.

Updated list: Sho-Totoron WEST SIDE STORY(movie) Grease(movie) Little Shop of Horrors(OBC) Wicked(haven't seen it) Avenue Q(haven't seen it) Hair(OBC and movie, though I haven't seen it) Spamalot(haven't seen it, saw The Holy Grail) My Fair Lady(OBC and movie) The Sound of Music(movie, only slightly. The songs are good, but they get really annoying after a while.) And Rent. Rent is a close second to WSS. Cats(movie/OBC) Evita(seen the movie, prefer London cast) Jesus Christ Superstar(seen movie, prefer OBC) The Producers(movie) Hairspray(haven't seen it, is only on Broadway) The Lion King(OBC) I think that's all so far.
