Anna sighed and pushed herself off the wall to walk to the counter and looked outside. The rain... Maybe this is why she loved it. It seemed to be able to carry everything away: Pain, memories, suffering, sadness... It was comforting like that.
Leaning of the counter, she notced that her hands were scratched and the outer metal layers were gone. How strange...
"And besides... I'm not even really doing this for myself... See, I'm only doing this because I need to protect someone very precious to me. Actually, two people that I value all too much... I'm doing this for them."

Ed stood up and walked into another room. He didn't feel up to listening to someone willing to give up their life for power. Al nervously watched him walk out then wondered if he should follow his brother or stay here.

anna sighed and raised her head, a faint crack resonating in her ears. That felt good...
She closed her eyes and focused on the sound of the rain, pinging on the roof and clicking in the mud. A hypnotising sound... It was comforting to her. It was reassuring in some way.
"YOu should know... Don't tell Mustang what I'm about to say; He'd probably kill me for it... You two are the ones I'm supposed to protect... It'S for you that I'm putting my life on the line. Be grateful for this... Because I'm pretty sure that I'mthe only person willing to do this for you.... Go see him. Tell him if he hasn't already heard..."

Al dropped his head. "Why us? We can handle ourselves. We never asked you..." His voice was shaking. He walked into the room after Ed who was seated in the corner of the room flipping his watch open and closed. "Brother..."
"I heard already Al. You don't have to tell me." He didn't even look up when he said it. "I agree with you. We don't need protection nor did we ask for it." He put the watch back in his pocket and stood up.

Anna wighed when she realised that Al had joined his brother. It wouldn't have been a surprise since Ed seemed to listen at doors so much...
"Protect yourselves... You almost go on suicide missions and you say you take care of yourselves..." Anna whispered to herself.
No, she couldn't allow either Ed or al to go out on one of their little 'investigations' alone. It'd probably lead to a capture then who knows? One time, he almost got caught in a building collapse... She couldn't let that happen, specially not to Ed...

Ed looked at Al then headed to the door.
"Where are you going brother? It's pouring outside!" Al warned.
"I'm just going out, being crammed in here is driving me nuts." He put his hand on the knob.
"You'll catch cold and i dont want to hear you complain that you can't breathe since your nose is so stuffy."
"I'm visiting Mom..." He walked out the door then went outside.

She blankly stared at Ed as he pased by, then sighed and pushed herself of the counter. The least she could do is follow... She had never been to Trisha's grave before...
"It's okay, Al, I'll go..." Anna sighed.
Great. Because of that transmutation earlier on, she had totally torn her leather coat, not to mention the only thing she had left was a black tank-top... Who cared? t was for Ed.
She rushed herself outside in the pouring rain, running after Ed even though her legs begged for her to stop.
"Ed!! Wait up!!"

Ed glanced over his shoulder then kept walking. She caught up with him. "You know you really should be resting riht now..." He just looked forward in the direction he was headed. He wanted to tell her to leave him alone but he didnt have the heart since she seemed happy to be near him.

anna smiled sadly as she remembered what her sister had told her about that day. Anna wasn't born yet; or she was too young to remember. But apparently Lia cried all night over trisha and wanted to bring her back... But their parents said that anything stupid like bringing someone back to life would cost her too much to cope with...
"I... If it can help... I know what it's like to lose someone in your family... I'm not called the Cold-Hearted Alchemist for nothing; I lost my sster and kill without remorse... It's almost like if death doesn't do anything to me.. Unless you would die.. I guess I'd go down with you..."
Weird. 1 14 year old gilr speaking like this? Wasn't she a bit too wise for her own good? Maybe. But she was raised like this and was said to be wiser than her 19 year old sister...

Ed quietly stuffed his hands in his pockets and walked silently for a few more minutes.
"Why do you like me so much. I haven't even met you before today and I really don't feel like I can trust you." He looked down at the ground then back up. "You've just met me and you trust me as if you and I were best friends. Only fools put their trust in someone so easily."
Ed started to surprise himself. For once he was acting his age.
(im trying to keep this from getting serious since the guild mods would smite you with blunt objects for trying to get together with Ed....read the rp rules to understand what im saying)

Were the all like this? The guys who performed human transmutation that is. Ugh.. Just thiking about it threw shivers up her spine. I mean come on. She was a state alchemist, could do things beyonf your wildest dreams AND was entrusted to protect the Elric brothers. What more proof do you want to trust Anna?
"And frankly... I don't trsut anyone in a naive first glance. I've been told about you so much that it's like if I'd known you for years... Though it seems I'M obliged to say that Roy hasn't given the favor to you in return... And you shouldn't be out in this rain, you're going to catch a cold. YOu could be bedridden for at LEAST a week. Don't want that, do we? GO see your mother.. I'll be waiting with a cup of hot cocoa when you come back."
Pretty much careless wether Ed had actually listened to her or not, Anna turned away from the grave they were now at to return to the small house. She had learned to know every inch of it since her visits there for automail maintenance were quite often.
She turned the doorknob slowly and stopped, hearing an odd whisper in her ears. She entered the house a few seconds later with a sad, melancholic smile on her face.
After washing her hands thouroughly, Anna threw herself into making hot cocoa.
"Um, Al? Do you want anything while I'm up?" she asked, a motherly smile betraying her feelings.
She wasn't very comfortable, not to mention her legs and back ached like hell. But she'd endure. She was used to it.

Ed stood at his mother's grave. "I haven't even heard of her protecting me. I should just try to ditch her. I mean, she's not like the Major who would hug me to death." He shuddered at the thought of a rib-crushing squeeze. "Al wouldn't want to though since he's so nice and doesn't like to be rude..." He kneeled down. "What should I do mom?"
"No, I'm fine." Al smiled and looked at her. "You should be resting."

She smiled again, anna, in that way that would make you think that she's always so happy, really when she's not. She didn't really care about herself, she liked to give everything to others... I guess she taught that to herself, really.. Since she had to help her older sister so much through everything...
"Me? Oh no, if I go to bed, I'm afraid something'll happen and that you'll both die on me!"
anna burst into a flow of laughter but tears quickly flowed freely to the ground as the pain seared through her. Fold in two, Anna desperately tried to maintain the physical effects of the pain as to not cause any worry.
"You should... Go see your brother... He seems quite upset about something..." she said, slowly getting up from the curled form.

Al walked over to her. "Go to bed or we're booting you out. Ha, that sounded like something Ed would say...GO NOW!" He pointed to the bedroom door.
Ed got up and wiped the mud off his knee then started to walk back only to think of what awaited him. He stopped in his tracks trying to figure out if he should head back or just go stay at the inn.

"Hm... I'll boot myself out, thanks. I'm starting to get worried; It's been a while and Ed still hasn't come back. His hot cocoa will get cold. And how ironic would THA be?"
Anna smiled humorously and walked out the door, again, but this time.. She seemed less sure of herself for some reason. Like if the fact of having to face that desolate and sad Ed was putting her moral to zero.
It's only after raising her head for the first time while walking that Anna saw Ed, just standing there.
"Ed? Ed! Are you okay?"
