With his mouth thoroughly intoxicated with salt, the black male had continued his careful cleaning of himself with only a haphazard look of mental functions- the rest had hidden themselves somewhere else until the salt was sufficiently cleaned from his body. Without the full fluff of his fur, he was still a rather long and sturdy looking wolf, but the wetness of his face and shoulders did give him an almost pathetically comical expression. It was only after a few moments that he realized the pup had gone back into the water.

Phib watched the child quizzically flounder about, but he seemed alright. Perhaps he enjoyed swimming more then he did. Another pass of his tongue over his paw, and the old king looked up again- this time, the pup had vanished beneath the waves. At once his back went rigid and his eyes started to flicker about in searching. Damn water-

The pup bobbled up for a second and sucked back under, and feeling a sense of danger flooding across him, Phib quickly moved from his fish and towards the swirling ocean, his ears perked forward and face a bit riddled with the concern of the moment. But just moments before he was about to go in after the child, he seemed to wash up on shore like a piece of driftwood, a small fish clasped between his jaws and a victorious expression on his face.

He watched, a bit humored, as the pup pranced towards him and dropped his catch. Fish was not something he particularly enjoyed, but he hid it as he picked the fish up in his own mouth. There was an importance to this catch. And Phib understood a need to repay others- so he turned and trotted back towards his fish (barking once to scatter the fisher crows that had gathered around the dead one), and dropped it on the sand. The wolf stretched and sat, picking up the fish back in his jaws, and gently worked about splitting the meat from the bone, and swallowing the pink slices. "Thank you." He rumbled, and pulled a second portion off. It was not likely he'd get more off the fish then that, but it was not as bad as he imagined fish to usually be.

Perhaps more should have been said- but he had a feeling the child would appreciate it anyways.

Malik watched as Phib stripped the fish of its more tender pieces and eat them. He stood for a moment, and swayed his tail haphazardly for a moment, shaking the sand from the fur, it felt odd to the pup. He stretched and sat again in front of Phib, inside Malik felt accomplished in one way or another. True the current was strong, but Malik would get stronger over time as well, then he'd be able to bring Phib or anyone else in the pack bigger fish.

Then his red eyes gleamed as his attention was now turned to the fish Phib had caught earlier, he still wondered the purpose of catching such a large fish, and not having any for his own.
"Phib..." Malik began, his eyes now cast upwards to the larger wolf, who had a grand sense about him, though his fur was still damp in several places. But the constant beating of teh sun adn its rays was slowly drying both wolf's fur over time,
"Who is that for?" Malik asked, pointing at the large fish with his nose.

"Amelie?" Malik whispered, peering at Phib, seeing the solemn movements of his tail sway back and forth. His mate would surely be kind just as he, Malik knew it must be so. His mate was also blind? Not uncommon in wolves of battle or born without sight, some even lost it for no fair reason at all, none the less, Malik knew he would like Amelie regardless of what her eyes could and couldn't see. In fact, her blindness reminded Malik of...

"Arguin..." Malik said standing up and looking to the north for a moment, before scooting to Phib's side and laying down on the hot sand.
"Arguin was said to be partially blind...but no one ever knew..." Malik wondered if his words would confuse Phib, for he did not know if he knew of Arguin.

Malik shook his head,
"Not the place where I came from, the place I was going to." Malik's eyes turned to that where the northern mountains lay, distant in view, almost disappearing over the line where the horizon separated earth from sky,
"We were going to the Valley of the Wind. Arguin was said to have given the valley a second chance, and allowed it to start anew after man had caused destruction there...he was said to have sealed the valley off, except for one area where you could enter the haven..." Malik believed himself to be sounding silly, he wondered if Phib believed in such fairy tales, but he had to finish what he started.

"To the north, not many were different from eachother externaly...I was the outcast of my pack..." Malik's ears flattened against his skull as he continued, "My blackened pelt and these spots were said to be the markings of Arguin, as if I was touched by his spirit at birth. My father...he believed we could gain entrance to the valley, because of me...but it didn't turn out that way as you can guess."

Malik laid his head on his paws as he stretched out on the sand, he truly wondered if the valley was even real...if Arguin was real...if there was a real pack that dwelled within the mountains. His eyes met Phib's as he looked up, and watched Phib seem to be protective of the fish he had caught for his mate. Malik pushed himself to stand and padded over to teh edge of the forest, he seemed to be looking for something. He disappeared for a moment into a bush, then return dragging a branch with many leaves. Malik dragged it down to the water, and let the leaves soak up the water and be covered, making the leaves shine. He then grasped the branch in his jaw again and dragged it over to Phib and the fish. Malik placed the branch over the fish, shading it from the sun, and having it stay fresh beneath the leaves,
"The sun may have it spoil...I don't think Amelie would like that." Malik said swaying his tail back and forth, taking a spot next to Phib again on the hot sand.

Malik stood and walked beside Phib, if he did wish to know of Arguin, he could speak of all he knew,
"To be touched by Arguin is said to be a gift, those touched granted with something, a purpose yet to be fulfilled within their lifetime...but it depended..." Malik sighed and kept up with Phib, Phib's long strides had called for Malik to step along the beach a bit faster,
"It depended if you were touched by the light side of "sky" or the dark side of shadow...light and dark as if representing night and day. But to be touched by the light of day was better then the shadows of night..." Malik's ears fell a little as he continued, his paws makings prints in the sand, his small ones next to Phib's huge ones...well, they were huge in his eyes.

"If you were darker in color like me...you would be seen as an outcast, because the shadows held many dangers and feared strengths where I came from..." Red eyes could see the images of his family as he walked, the taunting he had endured from other pups and even elder wolves of his pack, "Arguin's darkened touch was said to be a curse...elders from other packs we had encountered said that we would cause destruction, but I never believed it... for what would they know?"

Malik held his head a bit higher now, tail swaying back and forth as he walked side by side with Phib, his glance now looking up at the alpha,
"If I was touched by Arguin...I have a special purpose. And if darkened by touch...then those who would blame us (as he referred to any other said to be touched by darkness) truly feared us, in the sense of what we could bring...in strength or intelligence." Malik believed himself to be sounding older than his age, but he remembered the words his father had told him of Arguin perfectly, as if it was only yesterday the tales were told.

Phib walked around the beach, unconsciously realizing he was moving too quickly, and slowed his pace somewhat. He kept the fish between his jaws, but let enough freedom in his mouth for him to still make out words. They were somewhat muffled, but oddly articulate giving the situation. "Sometimes people wish to control things they do not understand." Phib remarked, his tail swaying. "So they make stories for them. You will do great things not because of being touched by anyone- although if you believe you have been, and will do things for the better, then that would work as well. But it is never good to listen to stories which force you to be someone you are not." He spoke, adjusting the fish.

The tale was interesting however. It made him remember how the world really worked outside of what he was used to. Sure, his father had become a bit of a legend- but he had never really been around to hear the superstitions and the thoughts. What sort of things did they imply? "And Arguin- what was he like?" He questioned, walking slowly off the beach sand, and now more into the grasses.

Malik watched Phib with a somewhat humurous expression as he tried to speak and hold the fish at the same time, but Phib's words were true...Malik hoped to understand them fully someday. He was constantly told stries when he was young, of what to expect and what to expect to become, some good, some bad, some unbelieveable at times, but Malik never spoke out against another elder's words, for it might have condemed him to more teasing and taunting than he already dealt with.

Phib despite his words of wisdom to the pup was still curious of Arguin, what he looked like perhaps? Or what he was sad to be like as a wolf? Malik kept up with Phib for the slowed pace of the wolf allowed Malik to keep a steady one-two of his paws now in the grasses,
"Physically, Arguin was said to not have been an overly sized wolf, in ranks he was said to be shaman and seer, both born into one. He was born into a pack like anyone else, but because of his attributes when born, he was expected to give answers to many things he had not yet understood. The elders of his pack wanted him to invade the minds of enemies and tell their secrets, and heal the wounded from battles in the wars his pack would force upon other. He was said to gain insight ot others beings, and when young he was punished by his pack, leaving him partly blind in his left eye..." Malik said, continuing to walk almost sycronized with Phib, surely they would be getting to where Amelie was soon, Malik was excited of meeting Phib's mate, yet in the back of his mind he wondered how she would accept him.

"Some said his fur appeared as the color of the sky, an ice blue pelt with the purest of white, and slightly darker blue markings on his forearms, back and a few on his face, and a light blue feather the color of the waters of the earth on his left ear. His eyes were blue as well, his left eye slightly blurred compared to his right eye. But his left eye was supposed to give to images or shadows of what he was to see, and sometimes images of what things were truly supposed to be seen as. Thats why those with darker pelts with markings were supposed to be touched by darkness, because Arguin physically showed no signs of blacks...but in his heart when he needed he had to muster up the strength to protect himself against enemies..."

Malik tripped foward but caught himself and kept up his steady pace. His nose now used to the smell of salt, the tales of Arguin having him wish to someday actually see Arguin, though it would be most unlikely,
"Arguin was said to be kind and caring, and had strength in physical form and his mind. But because of his strength in gifts, he left his pack, he wandered until he had found teh valley of the wind, how it looked after man's destruction. He used his gifts to have the valley rebirth into a better form, and thus dwelled in the mountains that guarded it. There is a cave which is said to be his dwelling, and those tuched by Arguin are said to venture there once older, to try and meet Arguin face to face, and find out what there true purpose is..." Malik stopped with teh story, for others things of Arguin were too off track for what Phib had asked of him, but he hoped he had filled in some gaps for Phib on who and what Arguin was.

Malik's nose scrunched up as he raised it to the wind, a scent of another wolf was strong, surely they must be close. Malik stayed at Phib's side, yet stayed behind him in a way that others would see Phib first, not Malik, the pup could be bold, yet cautious at times though he despised showing it. His eyes were now moving back and forth across the area, trying to see if he could spot out the wolf who he had picked up their scent, perhaps it was Phib's mate, and a certain excitement could be seen in his eyes. It wuld be good though, the fish might go bad if being out of the water for so long without being eaten.

Malik continued along side Phib, going around a stump that seemed strategically placed, yet Phib just stepped over it with ease, Malik's ears were picking up noises of rustling leaves to the sound of the ocean against the shore, and listened to Phib's words in reaction to his own.

Truth, truth was the one word Malik could place on the alpha's words, he was older, and wiser, and probably knew many things Malik would not yet understand, legends and belief of them for one thing. But Phib's words did comfort the young pup, the proof being his black swaying back and forth happily.

"Fish, fish!" Malik's crimson eyes looked forward as he saw a mostly gray coated female begin to approach. Malik glanced towards Phib and understood at once...this must be Amelie, Phib's mate. As she approached her movements were a bit odd, yet graceful with each step taken, and the few markings Malik could make out in her fur intrigued the pup as his eyes focused on her eyes...so blue.

As she approached Malik stopped and sat in the grass as she approached Phib and showed some affection, he seemed to smile, remembering the loving nuzzles his parents would offer eachother, with gave Malik a sense of family...and it did now just as before. He stayed quiet and would not interfere... unless he was spoken to, he wanted to have a good impression on Amelie.

And she spoke, Malik tilted his head in reaction, not in confusion, but as the fact of he did not believe her to know where he was exactly, he was hidden back a few paces from Phib, but he did not question it, only replied with tail swaying back and forth happily,
"Hi."

Malik watched as Amelie approached him a bit more, he merely tilted his head as he watched her, his tail swaying back a forth a bit, ear twitching in one direction every now and then picking up a foreign sound not too far away,
"I am Malik..." he said, in an almost proud tone. His crimson eyes watching her intently. He watched as Phib dropped the fish beside her, and how she licked it, as if claiming it, an image of Malik doing the same when his father would bring him home something to eat, he'd trace his tongue all over the food, as if saying to any onlookers "if you'd like it now, go ahead and take it." No one ever wanted his food after that feet.

Amelie was hard to judge by her movements and emotions, Malik could usually find out some true fact of another by watching them, but Amelie, was different. Malik smiled and watched as Amelie questioned if he was a pup of Phib's, Malik shook his head as if answering for him,
"No...Phib....he found me, in teh forest near the ocean." Malik said with a slight gleam in his crimson eyes, Amelie seemed nice, he knew that he would feel at home here with Phib and Amelie, and he hoped he could help both in some way, perhaps fishing like Phib had done for Amelie? Malik thought these ideas over in his head, and watched the two wolves before him.
