"I really don't know what his problem was. I didn't even see him coming. He said something about being a litterbug." The boy's voice still shook slightly, but he seemed to be recovering well enough. He had suffered no damage a nice nap couldn't cure.
"What happened was you just got your first taste of Matrimony discipline. Just one of the ways they keep the 'student body' in line. And everyone has one of those remotes...Nyas, you say? I'm Renji. Renji Motoki. Arigato...for what you tried to do, ne? That was really brave of you....you must've thought I was a girl, huh?" He would have laughed, were he not still to sore.

Nyas managed to get to unsteady feet, and reached her hand out to help him to his feet.
"Matrimony? Thought this place was called Midori. And yeah, I thought you were a girl. Pity, ne? You make one sexy chick." Nyas was not one to be shy about her sexuality. Her own voice trembled and Nyas mentaly kicked herself. Her body still felt like it wasn't her own, and there was a degree of numbness that she couldn't shake. "So, you're from around here? Japan, I mean."
She ran a hand through her raven-dyed locks. Why did those bastards have to take her shades?

"Yeah, well it is Midori, but we call it Matrimony. Cuz the collars pretty much link your life to someone else's. I'm sure you noticed there's no gate besides the one at the front entrance. How do you think they keep us from running away? If you run you die...so does the kid who has the matching collar to yours. " In all his time here, he'd only see one "expulsion". It was a horrifying sight that had given him nightmares for weeks. He pushed the memories back to the back of his mind.
The boy smiled at the comment she made, taking it as a compliment, but was not quite sure how to respond. It did not matter, she did not leave him a place to respond as she asked his origins. He nodded slightly.
"Hai....not far from Harajuku, actually. And you?" He was slowly beginning to feel more like himself....very slowly.

Nyas rolled her eyes.
"Well, if they think they're keeping me locked up like some mongrel, they got another thing comin." she said to herself, snarling. But she cracked her knuckles and looked back at the boy.
"Harajuku? I'm not from the mainland. My parents were American, and they decided to settle in Japan. I was born in Hokkaido."
She looked around. "At least its a nice-looking place." she said, rolling her shoulders.
---
Cyn thought he misheard Sanzo's comment, so he was able to ignore it. He made his way across the grass. He saw Renji and another new girl standing a little ways away, and he waved. He wondered where Jezz was. But watch beeped again, and he bolted across the campus. His instructor wasn't particular about much, but lateness was one of those few things.
He was glad he didn't have to go as far, or else he would really get a zapping. His lesson was outside today. His guitar bumped against his back and he cursed mentally as he came to a huffing stop near the fountain in the middle of the courtyard. A beautiful statue of Athena stood in the center of the pool, pouring water from a vase, while other jets sprayed sparkling streams into the air. He looked up to see a rather displeased expression on the intructor's face. Cyndir blanched as he took out the tiny remote.
"You're late, Rothyk-san." he said. Cyndir clenched his fists and set down his guitar, nodding silently.
"Shitsuree shimashita, Sensei. I was getting food." he said quietly.
"You know how that irritates me." he continued. He pointed the remote at Cyndir. His finger hovered menacingly over the button. Cyndir stared at the ground, bracing himself. He had gotten zapped once today already, for scaring the chemistry professor. He didn't want another. But he didn't feel anything, and he looked up, seeing the professor put away the remote. "You are an unusally attentive student, Rothyk-san. Do not be late again."
Cyndir let out a sigh of relief and took out the guitar.

Renji shrugged noncommitally, stooping down to pick up his dropped bag from the grass.
"Yeah, looks nice enough, doesn't it. All fancy and s**t. Better than the places a lot of us come from. I hate it here. I hate everything about this place."
Nerves stretched tin, Renji found himself feeling dangerously close to tears. Well, to be seen in a girl's uniform was one thing. As surprised as most folks were, it still pretty much fit in with the persona he presented to the world at large. But to cry...well, as far as any Matrimony student knew, that was not very Renji-like at all. He clutched the paper bag to his chest and closed his eyes, forcing himself to take steadying breaths.
He felt a little better when he opened them again, and offered Nyas a shaky smile. He saw Cyndir go by and he waved, though he didn't come over, obviously on his way to his music lesson. Renji waved back before he glanced down at his watch...Cyn was a little late. He frowned slightly in concern, hoping he didn't get into any trouble. What had held him up anyway? He was usually quite the punctual student.

Nyas gave Renji a playful jab in the shoulder. He looked pretty beat. She may have had problems with anyone who had authority over her, but she still friendly for the most part. "Hey...Renji, was it? What's one do around here for fun?" she asked. She straightened the collar of her black button-down and tugged at her belt. She hated green. She wouldn't wear one if her life depended on it. Judging by Renji's descriptions, it just might.
---
Cyndir managed to finish his lesson without mishap, though he found it hard to concentrate. His thoughts kept returning to Sanzo, and it took a great deal of effort to keep his mind from running away with him. Dammit, but why couldn't he stop thinking of him! He shook his head as he nearly missed the note, and the instructor glanced at him with an obvious "Pay attention or I zap you" look.
Finally, it was over, and he could get away. He didn't want to go back to his room. But he didn't know where else to go. Sanzo was doing homework, and Renji was with the new girl. Jezz was...well, who knew where she was....He decided to go for a swim. But first he needed to drop off his guitar and pick up his shorts.

"Well at the moment, this was what I was doing for fun."
He waved a hand to indicate his current attire. He raised the hand that clutched the pine green paper bag.
"Even went to the school store to mess with the clerk's head a little bit. And get some snazzy accessories. I guess there's the student union. That's about as fun as it gets, unless you get off on sports or computers or something. "
The boy shrugged weakly. "Is thre something you have in mind? Maybe I can point youin the right direction or something. ."

Nyas eyed the outfit fit a look of distaste.
"Who would wear a skirt for fun?" she said. But she grinned at him, still trying to shake off the after-effects of getting zapped three times.
"I'm no sports-fanatic. I mean, what can you do for real fun? There's gotta be something that we can blow up or harass or something." she grinned wickedly. "But what's with the uniforms anyway? Hell if you get me to wear one."
She looked around. She had no idea where she was. The place was huge...

"Who? Well...me I guess, ne?" He gave a soft giggle without a trace of self consciousness.
He looked at her curiously as she spoke of blowing things up and harrassment. He'd almost forgotten what it was like being newly enrolled...almost. To have that fresh sense of who-gives-a-damn. To think you would do things your way.
When Nyas spoke of not wearing the uniform, he gave the girl a sad smile. "Oh, you'll wear one. You may not think so now...but you will. We all do eventually."

==>Female Dorms F7
Jezz actually found a part of the courtyard that didn't have people gabbing and buzzing. It was quieter and it had more nature. But ontop of it all she managed to find some flowers, that had some butterflies flittering around it. She sat along the stones that outlined the flowerbed and she leaned her back against the building. Slowly the butterflies came back and continued to just flutter around her head and the flowers. She watched them with intent, a butterfly was just so free, it was beautiful and soft, and it could fly whereever it wanted. The one thing she wished for, the one thing she always wanted, freedom, and butterflies were the perfect example of that.

Nyas snorted at him.
"Uniforms are for military men and pansies." she said, folding her arms behind her head. "Of which I am neither."
She began to walk away. "So, aside from yourself, you know of any pretty girls around? No reason to be waistin' time if you say I'm gonna be zapped. So, I wanna have me some fun."
She cracked her knuckles and draped an arm lazily around Renji's shoulders. He wasn't a bad sort. Even if he did think they could coerce her into wearing a uniform.

"Does that classify me as a pansy?" Renji inquired with a smirk. Not that he took any offense. He'd been called far worse. His smirk became a smile as Nyas slipped an arm around his shoulder, as if they were good friends. Well, she had attempted to rescue him. And they'd shared a jolting. Certainly that had done something to at the very least begin a bond.
As Nyas made mention of pretty girls, his thoughts drifted back to one person, and he blushed ever so slightly.
"Erm...well..there's this one girl I met earlier, who I kinda pissed off. She's pretty....really pretty. Heh, I told her she was butch and asked if she liked girls. It made her hella mad. She stormed off, telling me to go find a lesbian." He pased, and after a second or two turned to look at Nyas. He burst out laughing then.
"Funny how things work out, ne? We should totally go see if she's in her room."

"Well, in that outfit, pansy is quite an apt description, ne?" she said, grinning from ear to ear, not the least bit abashed. "So, you seem to have quite the thing for this friend of yours. She must be quite the rare bit of eye-candy." Nyas winked at him. "Normally I might decline, seeing as she's not my 'type' so to speak, but this one might be interesting."
She looked around in confusion, but did not take out the map that was still shoved in her back pocket. "Which way would she be?"

Renji moved with no real sense of direction. The larger shirt gave him all the freedom the previous blouse lacked, and he felt tons better for that alone. In addition, the effects of the earlier electrocution had faded to an unpleasant memory.
He smoked a cigarette and moved wherever his feet took him. He made small talk with a small group of students, one who teased him mercilessly, two openly admired it, and one kid was just outright befuddled.
He parted ways soon enough, and walked in the directly of the slowly setting sun. He wonderd how Cyn's lesson had gone, and wondered what Nyas was thinking, when he stumbled across Jezz in a relative empty section. She was by one of the many flower patches; Midori was nothing if not pretty. Headmistress Hitsugawa had seen to that.
Jezz was watching butterflies, and it was more than obvious from the unguarded posture andd expression, she had no idea he was watching her. She looked so pretty, sitting in the grass like that, with the sun setting just beyond her. He took a moment to make a mental note, then began to slowly backtrack, so as not to disturb the girl. Suddenly he did not wish to antogonize her. Another idea had come to mind...

Renji slipped out the school, retracing his steps to where he had last stumbled across Jezz. When she came into sight, he started to make as much noise as possible, coughing, walking hard so that the soles of his shoes clicked loudly against the pavement. The last thing he wanted to do was embarass her, catching her in a vulnerable moment.
"Oi, Juaranos-san! What are you up to? Reflecting on the taste of Ariko's spit?" Ugh, again with the smartass remarks. Could he never just turn it off? It was like a sickness with him, sometimes.
