Kari watches Uri anxiously, hoping he doesn't get upset that she doesn't remember what he said. Ten is a lot of numbers, and whatever is the next one is even more..
"Eleven," she repeats, tilting her head a the mention of a hundred, "How many numbers are before a hundred? Is it real big?" Her purple eyes are wide and curious, trying to imagine where along the way another number that doesn't follow the trend would be. Maybe it'd be after tenteen~ assuming there is one, of course!
She watches him drink and then looks out over the water with mild curiousity.
(( :3 It doesn't matter, numbers are fun XD *shrug* Whatever you like! ))

((Okee. whee ))
"Okay...look here, young one." Uri sat up. He'd better use an better example. Something visual, might stay with her better. But all he could think of was - oh it'd mar his perfectly clean fur - but she did need to learn - oh bother...
He moved towards the softer mud and pressed his paws down, squelching ten paw prints into the ground. Disgusting. He'd need to wash that off it looked horrible.
"See, Kari, that's ten. Now, one hundred is like nine more identicle lines of ten again. Understand or~?" Uri didn't want to make a hundred paw prints but he would. Though he was getting more concerned about himself. He was being nice and patient...beautiful and kind? The world was lucky a cheetah like he lived in it, ooooh yes.

Chuakari follows him to the mud curiously, watching him carefully- whatever he does, she has to make sure she listens! The better she listens, the happier he'd be with her, right? Leaning tensely, she watches him make the pawprints.
"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten," she murmurs quietly to herself as he makes the prints, glancing up at Uri when he finishes- frowning to herself at the disgusted look he had. Maybe he doesn't like playing in the mud, and she'd made him do it! Bother.
"S-so-" she looks back at the pawprints, "Nine more tens makes one hundred."
She tries to wrap her mind around this- nine more rows of ten pawprints, with this one row. That meant ten rows of ten pawprints makes one hundred.
"Ten rows makes one hundred?" Kari looks back up at him, hoping she'd gotten it right and he could stop playing in the mud if he wanted to.

"Yes. Ten rows of ten is a hundred." He nodded, looking down at her. Just one more test...he made three more paw prints before nudging her again; curses, more affection!; and going to dip his paws in the water. Easiest way to get the mud off. And less nasty earth-taste.
"You're doing great Kari...so how many paw prints are there now?" Uri /sounded/ pleased with her. Really. Maybe he needn't find a female for her yet...besides it'd soon be dark and he /never/ slept at the meeting place, and maybe she'd like to stay with him.

Chuakari grins when he approves of her logic, having no doubt in her mind that she's right now that Uri has told her it's true. She watches anxiously as he makes three more paw marks in the mud, but looks relieved once he nudges her and then goes to wash off his paws.
"There's ten there from before," she says, "And three you just put. So that's.." She looks down at her own paws, trying to get through the numbers in her head.
"Nine, ten.." she pauses, then sticks on front paw forward a bit, "Eleven-" she puts the other paw forward, stretching out her small body, "Twelve!"
That made two more than ten, but now she's out of front paws to help keep track of how many more than ten she is. Kari resumes a more natural stance, and continues with more authority, "Thirteen." Just one more, that meant the number after twelve. It has to be right. If it's not right, she won't let him get muddy again!

He purred, cleaning away the grime, flicking his feet delicately as he stepped out of the water to help dry them. Droplets caught the light a glistened. Pleased, he came over to stand next to her again. Lowering his head to her level, he offered another one of his smiles.
"You've done well, caught on counting quickly...care to call it a night now and go find other amusements? Whatever you want to do, we'll do it."
Uri prayed - not that he was religious, so it he supposed it was useless - that Kari would not wish to do something silly like...rolling in the mud or going to play with moneky droppings. She didn't seem like that kind of cub, however.

Kari watches Uri come back from the water with a hopeful smile on her face, and then she laughs aloud when he approves of her work- pleased to have learned so quickly, and that he doesn't have to get muddy again just so she'll learn.
"Ok!" she squeaks, trying to think of something fun to do- but she isn't sure what kind of things Uri would like to do with her, and he should have first say, most definetely!
"I bet you have way better ideas than me!" she exclaims, and with a smiles she tilts her head at him, "What do you think we should do?"

"Oh, well. What kind of games do you like dear? Cubs usually like games, like tag or playfighting or hunting or..." He paused, light eyes puzzled. Uri had only really watched the other young cheetah's in his area. There, he's been alone in having an oddly marked pelt and had been bullied mercilessly.
"...so, which is your favourite?" He'd never really played before. The white and dark male shifted slightly, thinking. "And your ideas were probably great little love. You shouldn't just do what I say."

She pays carefully attention to everything Uri says. Tag sounds like fun, playfighting not so much, hunting she hasn't done a lot of.. Kari suddenly sits upright and shakes her head- too much quick thinking! She frowns when Uri tells her she shouldn't just do what he says.
"But- what if you don't want to do what I do?" Her question starts off as a whine, but she quickly checks it and finishes in a more natural tone. It's clear her concern is not just with amusing herself.
Frowning, she stares down at Uri's paws, trying to think of a game he might like. Something you don't have to get dirty for, something Uri might like, and something fun. What comes to her mind is the least likely game you'd expect someone with her fur to suggest.
"What about hide-and-seek?" she suggests quietly, hoping he'd like the idea.

It was really rather sweet how concerned she seemed to make sure they'd both like the game. Uri listened and waited to answer both questions at once - he didn't want to interrupt her, after all.
He couldn't but smile again. Hide and seek? That didn't sound so hard. He'd have an unfair advantage if they were still playing when the sun had finished setting...and really, he'd be able to spot Kari easier for her pelt. It was really rather cute she wanted to play that...it really was the last thing he'd expected.
"Then we'd compromise until we're both happy. Hide and seek sounds fine to me, so long as you don't run off too far. Whose seeking first?"

She brightens immediately after he smiles, but when he answers the question her smile fades slightly and her head tilts. Compromise? What's that? Something that makes everyone happy.. maybe it'd be useful to know!
Kari lifts her ears and smiles again when he agrees to playing the game, glad that she picked something he's happy with. She sways gently as she thinks about who should be 'it' first.
"Do you like hiding or seeking more?" she asks, "And- and what's compromise?"

"A compromise it where you make sure everyone is happy with a decision" - or as happy as they're ever going to be - "By meeting them half way. For example, if we both wished to eat a piece of meat and neither wished to give the whole thing away, we'd compromise by eating half each."
Uri usually liked the sound of his own voice, but oh, so much explaining things today. He was happily surprised to find he was rather looking forward to a game. So much /easier/.
"And I do not mind. I will seek or hide, I like both."

"Oh, ok," she nods, compromises sound good. She will have to remember that, and what it's called, for future reference! Compromises can help make people happy. She does a full circle to get a good look around, trying to decide if Uri should hide or seek first.
Uri'd be good at hiding! But seeking is fun too, because you get to try to find people. And Uri's probably real good at that too.
"Ummm," she murmurs thoughtfully, before stopping and looking up at Uri with a smile, "I'll hide first! If that's ok with you."

"Sounds fine. Just be careful, alright? Night is a wonderful time, but it's also when many hunters come out."
He paused, unsure, before tapping her nose with his white tail tip again. She was adorable. But he shouldn't get attatched of course. Uri mused on this as he walked towards the small tree that grew nearby. Rearing up on his hind legs, he rested his forepaws on the bark and hid his face.
"I'm counting to twenty, Kari, then I'll come seeking you...one, two -" Uri was glad his silly smile was hidden as well.

Kari nods enthusiastically, "Ok, I'll be careful!" She giggles when he taps her nose with his tail, wiggling her snout a bit before watching him go off to count by the tree. With a smile on her face, she watches him the entire time- until he says he'll count to twenty.
"Twenty?" she murmurs to herself, trying to think of how many that is. When she hears him get to two, she gives a squeal of excited panic and leaps off to the side to try to hide. Without knowing how far away twenty was, she is more eager to find a hiding spot in time!
She bounds off towards the water, splashing through a shallow edge of it before rounding back on a small patch high grass nearby. Without paying attention to the noise she makes, Kari crawls into the grass and lays low to the ground- making sure she can see through the grass to where Uri started his counting.
