As she awaited Acting Queen Wema to speak, Zuri who was on the other side of the queen asked if she would stay with her. Seemed to her that Zuri was intent on the words being spoken by the Prince and those near him. Kijani was also listening but for the moment the Acting Queen was the priority.

Kijani didn't hesitate for one moment, in a clear voice she said "I would be honored to stay and assist the Acting Queen. Anything she requires I will assist her" with that she turned and looked over the growing crowd of lions and lionesses that had gathered.

Before Zuri had moved she said to her "If I am needed for the plans the Prince is devising, please alert me but for now I will stay with Wema" with that she turned to check on the Acting Queen before turning back towards the crowd.

She felt something, the air didn't feel right. Sniffing nothing came to her that alarmed her, it must be something else. "It may be my imagination but the air feels off" she said to herself

Kiburi was still fuming when he heard Kemet speak. Turning his head he saw him nuzzle Kicheko softly. His words directed at Kicheko rang in his ears, "We all want answers Kicheko" which were very true.

Watching the other lion nonchalant attitude towards Kicheko made him relax. He seemed to know how to handle her if she got to out of hand.

Thinking for a moment as Kemet spoke he responded by saying "Erroring on the side of caution is a good thing in most cases, but in the few it's not you need to know the difference" with a slight nod of his head.

Looking over to where Moyo was standing with several lions flanking him, the last few minutes replaying in his mind he heard Kemet ask if they should see what the Prince knew first and that sounded like a very good idea to him.

Nodding, he spoke "Yes I do believe we should apporach the Prince and see what information he has to share with all of us" with that he trotted off in a slow walk.

Kicheko's mind was put to some rest knowing that Kemet was here, taking comfort in his affection. Still, she sled him a pointed look which she was certain he took note of, when he spoke of caution. She flicked her tail and was about to reply, when she found Kiburi all but shoving his face into hers.

When he accused her of sneaking in, her narrow eyes hardened and she drew herself up, bolstered by the presence of her brother and her paramour.
"That's a bold accusation to make with someone who has no proof to back his words." She hissed at him. Her ears snapped back when he bellowed into her face and she stook a step back, bumping into her brother. Reassured by his presence, she took three steps forward instead and shoved her chest against Kiburi's a snarl on her face. "You speak of audacity, yet you would all but threaten a pride mate. It is you who should be relieved that the Guards are not here to see you acting like rogue with no sense of decorum, for your attitude is a danger to us all. I will not be daunted by your size, so you can back off!" She spat at him. "You have no authority over me!" She roared - making no efforts to hide her volume. She wanted as many eyes on her for this as she could. She would not let him bully her into submission and get away with it. Let others witness this and talk of it for days to come. She stayed quiet as she watched him interact with Kemet, seemingly suddenly disinterested in her - fine, that was fine. She didn't want his interest, she wanted him gone and soon, after he'd had words with her beloved, he was off, walking away from her and her group.

She lashed her tail as she watched him move over to Wema and Moyo, holding firm in her position until she was certain he wasn't watching her, then she slumped to her haunches, breathing heavily. Fear coursed through her - Moyo had stopped her, wasn't that enough? Who was Kiburi to speak to her that way? She looked up, wide-eyed at Kemet and then to her brother. "I think... I think he would've killed me, if you two hadn't been there. Thank you, both." She dipped her head and butted her forehead against Kemet's chest, her body trembling. "If everyone reacts as violently to the king and queen being gone, then yes, we must tell Moyo immediately. Kiburi and any who share in his feelings should be the ones who are watched by the Guard, in case there are any more outbursts that could predict violence." She hissed quietly, her spirits thoroughly rattled. "Let's go at once, but... can we keep our distance from him? I don't know if I'll be able to go paw to paw with him so soon again." She said, casting worried glances between her boys.

As he started to walk off towards the Prince, Kicheko responded to him and quite frankly it was not what he had expected.

He whipped his head back around to stare at her before he stopped walking entirely. Slowly, very slowly he took a breath. He needed to remember this was a female who is grown. The key word there being almost. The fact she was acting like an adolescent is something he can't wrap his head around.

Turning his body fully around he stood stock still, his gaze on her. He was assessing the situation; she was not alone. She was still flanked by her brother and her future mate if he recalled right the relationship between her and Kemet. Not that he cared one bit about it if he was being honest.

After a moment of staring at her, he decided the best course of action was to speak his mind again and let her know her actions are egregious and would result in swift action from the guards if they were alerted to her plan. She acted young, brash and foolish. If her brother or future mate will not tell her then he must for the sake of the pride. Her actions could have dire consequences.

He moved silently on swift paws until he was within a short distance of her but far enough away as to not seem a threat, which in his mind he chuckled at.

"I have no proof to back up my words? That is untrue and you know it. Kijani was with me saw me take off yelling your name which caused her more than likely to look towards you. his words hung in the air.

"As for audacity, it is you who have the unmitigated gall to hide behind your brother and future mate while accusing me of threatening a pride mate" You speak to me as if I am a danger, which in your opinion I am one" "The only danger I present is to some foolish female who thinks they are above the King and Queen's decree!" with that being said his tail began to swish back and forth. He was getting angry and he knew he must force it down, to fight now would be foolish.

"I don't have any authority over you, very true" "Let's see what the guards think about your antics shall we?" "Think your brother and future mate can vouch for you?" " I do believe the knew what you were up to and it will not bode well for you or them at all if the guards were alerted now will it?" "You can think I am a danger all you want, but quite frankly you are a danger if you think you will sneak into the King and Queen's Den" his words were harsh but spoken in an even tone although it was loud. He wanted others to hear their conversation. In his opinion she thought being loud and drawing attention to their interaction would work in her favor, it won't. If he and possibly Kijani had seen her attempting to sneak into the den others may have as well. It is possible she may back off once she realizes that fact.

"Before I go and I will in a moment think about how far off I was and I saw you, how many close to where you were saw you as well?" "I am positive I am not the only one who saw you, I am the only one who attempted to stop you" "You can dislike me all you want, the fact is I will do what is necessary for this pride, regardless of what is needed" "I know many in the pride are uncomfortable with me and that doesn't bother me, I prefer solitude but I will not tolerate any decree the royal couple has made be broken, especially by a foolish female who is acting like a adolescent" with that he nodded and turned to move away. His words spoken, he felt the need to continue onto where the Prince was speaking to the others.

The young male lowered his large, shaggy head, searching his sister's eyes. No, this wasn't simply one of her pranks. Haha nodded, believing in Koko when she said she meant no mischief. Still he tilted his head at her.

"Sister, would you like it if others bothered you after you'd asked for privacy?" He said gently, sighing at her desire to march up to Wema and the prince with demands, "...Or we just be patient and trust in our King. We'll be fine, honest. We just.. Need to get out of our heads--" His quiet voice is quickly swallowed by the booming voice of this other male, Kiburi. Furaha shrank back a step. There was no need to yell... He glanced around, with everyone talking over one another, doubt and accusations being thrown around so casually. All this was doing was making matters worse. He tried to speak up, raising his head a bit, but his sister jumped in. She was always better with confrontation than he was. He watched, wide-eyed as she stood up to this male and his loud voice, matching his tone with strength of her own.

It gave him courage as well, and he followed her as she stepped up to Kiburi, not quite interfering, but there if she needed him. As he stalked off, Haha pressed his shoulder against hers, "Let's go talk to the prince. See what he has to say. Maybe some order will do us all good, yeah?"

Kijani

With the help of Zuri and Kijani, lady Wema was able to make it shakily to her paws, though not without quiet, muttered apologies for asking them to wait on her. It was quite embarrassing for the royal lady, to be fussed over in such a way, but she needed the help. "Thank you both," she told them quietly as Zuri excused herself to meet with Moyo and the gathering hunters. Wema turned her attention to Kijani, leaning slightly closer to the other female for support. Everything still felt too big and too much, but thankfully most of the attention was now focused on her nephew, who she was quite proud of. The presence of Daaruk was felt more than seen, as Wema was quite use to Daaruk including her in some of his lessons, and she quite enjoyed his quiet calm demeanor. She shifted her gaze to give him a tired smile, feeling more at ease with his presence around her.

Her attention refocused off in a direction around them when shouting voices could be heard. Oh dear... Wema took in a deep breath and sighed, her nerves shot as her legs felt like giving out on her. "Kijani dear, I hate to ask, but would you mind helping me to the royal den? My paws are unsteady, and I fear I won't make it alone." Her worried gaze shifted to the opening of the den atop pride rock, where she, Moyo, her brother the king, and queen Laini usually shared. The past few nights Wema and Moyo had been sleeping in some of the common dens to give the king and queen their privacy, but Wema was weary and the thought of being around even more lions in a communal den unnerved her. She needed privacy if her nerves were going to recover from the stress of the past few days. Quietly she added so only Kijani could hear her, and they didn't catch the attention of the whole pride, "I need to rest and to check on my brother as well. I don't think they've eaten anything the past few days, much less left their den..." she hoped they were okay.

Just as quietly she glanced over to Daaruk, and she offered him a nervous smile. "Please, follow behind us until we reach the den. I don't want anyone rushing in with us," she hesitated slightly as her smile faltered into an expression of worry. "I'm not sure what we'll find, and I don't want to start a panic."

Moyo waited patiently for the pride to approach him, offering a sincere smile to those who chose to do so. "I would appreciate your input, Ikarta," the prince told her, glad that Potopoto beside him had calmed down and seemed more approachable as well. Moyo had also heard the shouting voices around them, and though his ears momentarily flattened against the sides of his head he kept his focus on those lions and lionesses gathering around him. He spotted Zuri approaching him, and for a brief moment he was worried his aunt needed more assistance, but when he glanced over it seemed she had regained her paws underneath her and Daaruk was now at her side as well. Moyo breathed a sigh of relief as he refocused on the task at hand.

"Zuri, your expertise in hunting would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps you and Estelle can gleam some useful information on current herd movements from Ikarta and her scouting? And from there I would appreciate it if the two of you could gather a hunting party to track down some prey. I'll leave the details up to the two of you and your best judgement on the situation," he told them, thinking it wiser to allow the more experienced lionesses to coordinate their own hunt rather than telling them where to go.

Finally, Moyo turned his attention to Potopoto, having to crane his neck upward to look at the large guard sat next to him. "We need to speak with some of the other guards to see what area has and has not been patrolled yet. But in the meantime, maybe Ikarta's scouting will give us some information to act upon. What do you think the priority should be?"

User ImageBrunivald was just returning from a late morning patrol, not his typical time of day for guard duty, but lady Wema had asked him to go so he went without question. He felt slightly grumpy for having done so, as his normal routine for the day was all out of sorts, but he did what he must to help ensure the pride prospered. To his surprise, there was quite the gathering at priderock today, but it only took seconds for him to realize what was going on. Everyone was stressed about the situation, and voices were fighting over each other to be heard. The large guard decided to make himself useful, and so he had been picking his way to the front of the crowd, careful not to step on anyone's paws as he gathered information about what was going on.

Before long and as he made his way forward there were a particular set of shouting voices that had caught his attention. He paused in his step, ears forward as he searched for the particularly heated shouting and where it might be coming from. One large paw partially raised as he scanned the crowd, until his fiery gaze landed on two pridemates screaming at one another. A deep frown set his heavy jaw as he slowly and purposefully stepped forward again, this time towards the shouting.

He recognized a few of the faces amongst that group, but most prominently he recognized his fellow guard, Kemet. Luckily, it didn't seem like they were all shouting, just the lioness Kicheko, and the lion Kiburi. His brows furrowed as he listened to them argue, though he did not approach them further. Brunivald waited until he could catch Kemet's eye and raised a single, questioning brow, wondering if the other guard might need back up in whatever situation he had found himself in.

His ears twisted at the sound of prince Moyo's voice and Brunivald turned his head around to listen to what the prince had to say. Ah. Yes, that did seem like a more productive plan, and Brunivald welcomed the chance to help get the patrol schedule back in order. He gave a final look over to Kemet and his group, just in time to watch Kiburi walk away as the shouting seemed to be over with. Brunivald still had a deep frown plastered to his maw as he studied the little group for a moment more before turning and making his way up to priderock where Moyo was gathering others to start forming a plan of action.

In a single, easy leap Brunivald made his way up the rock and took a silent seat next to his fellow guard Potopoto, just as Moyo had finished laying out the idea of a plan. "The southern border is clear, I just finished patrolling it," he reported with a tired yawn and flash of his teeth. Typically, the dark pelted guard took his patrol duty late night into early morning, just in time to finish up and watch the sunrise, so he was feeling slightly out of sorts just finishing up a patrol midday.

Kijani

Daaruk Watched as Lady Wema got to her paws with the help of the lionesses, which he was very greatful for, it hurt his heart to watch her struggle like this and he also watched as Zuri, one of their strongest hunters departed to go speak with Prince Moyo. He eyes Potopoto only once more to make sure he had settled, before looking back to the lovely Lady Wema who just then offered him a weary smile. His eyes softened and he gave a gentle smile in return, a look that just resonated "Everything will be okay" and of mild-natured encouragement.
He could hear the shouting where he saw Kiburi go and he figured he is probably scolding someone again, That one would definitely be a great asset as a guard in his opinion but he also wanted the fellow Lion to be happy with what he did. As a Teacher it wasn't his place to say either.
However his focus stayed on Wema, especially after asking for Kijani, who was steadfast at Wema's side, to help her to the Royal den, his eyes following her gaze to the opening upon Pride Rock, he too very much worried for the King and Queen. Wema's voice quieted and he couldn't make out what she said to Kijani, but his trust in Lady Wema was deep and he wouldn't pry.
Then she spoke to him, asking for him to flank them and make sure no one followed them or rushed behind. He gave a gentle bow of his heavy head in agreement but before he lifted his head, her next words make his big heart sink a bit. Not knowing what would be found, not drawing attention to what they were doing as to not cause a panic, she was right and it was key. He spoke very gently and quietly to her in response " Yes My Lady." Understanding fully how to go about this. His wide head lifted and he gave Kijani a smile and an expression of thanks and appreciation that she was there though he was a Lion of few words at this time.
Daaruk's posture became more relaxed, letting all the tension and worry seem to just slip away, yielding to a calm and a pleasant expression came over his face. Those that may see or were watching may not be able to hear them, but he became so leisurely in energy that perhaps it would seem not just that all was well, but that there would be no need to have interest in what they were doing or where they were going. He looked about at the others that were present, lions gathering to Prince Moyo, others staying mostly where they were and Ikarta who had came to speak, He waited a moment or two to follow the Lionesses, so there was a relaxed distance between them as to not seem alarmed and to position himself between everyone else and the two.

Zuri

Finally! She could be of some good use and was in a way excited to help, however she remained calm and focused, listening to every single thing Prince Moyo had to say first. As he spoke to Zuri, She made a mental note of what information Zuri and her hunting party would need from her. Zuri was so cool and so was Estelle! Though Ikarta wasn't a hunter, she still looked up to the more experienced lionesses in many ways.
As the Prince Spoke to Potopoto, Ikarta made note of what information she could give to aid the Guards in their patrolling. The Guards were such a valuable asset and anything she could do to help was something she was happy to do.
Brunivald, the fire spotted Guard had great timing as he came up and reported that the southern border was clear.
Before she said anything, Potopoto responded to the Prince.
User Image
Potopotos golden eyes landed on Brunivald for a moment and he shot him a grateful expression on his darker brown muzzle before beginning to speak in his Naturally booming tone. He wasn't trying to be loud, it was just his voice. It was deep but very clear. "I believe while we have her here, Ikarta needs to be spoken to first. Sense we now know the Southern border is clear and I have checked the eastern border.." His head turned from the Prince to Ikarta " Have you seen or smelled anything about the northern or western border?"
Ikarta slowly shook her head in response, her eyes moving from Brunivald to Potopoto " No, but I did just come in from the northern border and took a moment to see if there were signs of anything. Everything seemed in order and I could still smell our markers."
Potopoto then looked to Brunivald, " We need Kemet, Giza and Jua. So we can orient a better coverage of the west and still keep the night guards on the night shift" He stated. Knowing all too well that Brunivald is usually asleep right now and disrupting sleep can cause a lion to miss things.
Potopoto had no sign of his earlier aggression, with him it was like a switch he could just turn on and off an any moment.
Ikarta had given her information to the Guards, and now she turns and completely focuses of Zuri, ready to assist her in anything she needed with an eagerness in her sky blue eyes. She looked up to Zuri and Estelle so much inside was excited to be able to work directly with them! She would even go retrieve Estelle for Zuri if she wanted.

User ImageZuri heard Kijani's words and nodded, turning her focus back to the prince's words. Her eyes wandered over the others who had gathered, her sights falling on Ikarta. She approached her, "I hope you have good news from your scouting," she said, a slight smile on her lips. "I'm eager to get a hunt going." She stretched her front legs out in front of her, raking her claws against the stone beneath them. "It's been too long since I had the thrill of a chase, and a life dangling from my jaws." She laughed lightly as she rose back to her feet. "Of course, I'll be sure to leave some for the rest of the hunters as well." She looked to Estelle when she said that. "Do we know how many hunters we have gathered here?"

Estelle thought about the question and then she said "Perhaps we have too many hunters and huntresses that maybe part of the problem and causing the herds to move further away to avoid the large groups.." She then paused and said "Unless there is something or someone else that is causing problems for the herds and unbalancing the circle of life." She pondered the thought and looked around at the others gathered in the hunter's group. She shook her head since she didn't think the answers would just drop into her paws. "I don't think we have enough scouts and teachers compared to hunters currently."
PostPosted: Fri Aug 29, 2025 10:18 am

Ikarta's light blue eyes were gleaming when Zuri asked her about scouting information, she did in fact have some and when Estelle mentioned the amount of hunters they had going out, it made things make sense. More was coming together in comparison to what she had seen of the herds and the game lately.
She looked to the Beautiful Estelle and nodded, but started to speak to both, her tone was a bit more serious than usual. " Estelle is right I think. I have noticed the herds and prey have been breaking down into smaller and smaller groups. Zebras were last spotted more to the north and in smaller groups instead of the multi harem herds we are use to tracking. The Gazelles have moved just beyond the border to the north, also keeping to smaller groups. I think Estelle is right, we have too many Hunters and we are sending out too many at once. Smaller, 4 to 5 lion groups kept more spread out I think would help some but they are definitely spooked, But one thing is certain, at some point or another, they all eventually need water. *she looked back to Zuri then to Estelle again. "Yeah we most definitely need more scouts. I can only cover so much ground and as is I am away more than I am home and I still only scout pieces of the Pridelands. We live in a really bug Territory. "
Ikarta sat with the two Huntress' she looked up to, her expression was somewhat serious and focused, not letting anything distract her from the task at hand.

As usual, Hamdan was fashionably late. He strolled in with his usual bouncing steps, a smile and not a care in the world. It didn’t matter to him that the king and queen had chosen to seclude themselves away, or that the hunting parties were falling apart, everything down at his watering hole was calm, his fur was clean and quite frankly, the royalty deserved a break every now and again. He didn’t blame them for taking a little vacation.

His fur was still damp but rapidly drying in the hot midday sun as he found an empty spot to flop into the hot stones and stretch luxuriously, as if at a casual friendly gathering and not a tension charged meeting of frustrated lions.

He yawned, eyeballing some of the more angrier lions with an arched brow.

I don’t know what the fuss is about, he said to nobody in particular. They’ll come out sooner or later.

Estelle and Ikarta both had very good points. There may be too many hunters working together in one area. Maybe that was the plan; they should work towards splitting the hunters into small groups to hunt different types of prey. Just as she was about to suggest that, Ikarta voiced the same idea. This pleased Zuri that the other lionesses were thinking the same as her.

"I suggest our strongest hunters should choose a few younger ones to go with them, and then pick a direction or beast, whichever makes more sense," she added. "And of those small groups, appoint one of them to be a scout as well to help in that area."

Estelle listened to Zuri and she nodded "That sounds like a good plan." She knew that things would likely still be hard for a while but she still didn't blame Lady Wema for what had happened the hunters should have realized sooner that there was a problem and sought to fix it. The circle of life was important and not respecting it caused problems. The prey animals had as much right to life as the pride did. She looked to Ikarta to see if they agreed with Zuri's plan. It was important that they all worked together and didn't bother the royals whatever was going on with them.

Ikarta Nodded to both Lionesses, her shoulders relaxing with relief that a plan had been made. She agreed completely about this and gave a small smile to them both, replying in a pleased tone with a slight purr in it " That sounds like a plan to me! If there is anything else I can do to help the hunters out, just let me know. I will keep an eye on the movement of prey for you guys too." She nodded again and with that she turned to either find her next task, as to not take up any more of their very valuable time. They had hunters to gather up and plans to execute. perhaps was going to go scouting or.. Then she saw Hamdan at a distance, leisurely sprawling on a hot stone. She liked how relaxed he was and it gave a good vibe. She made her way over in his direction with an excited expression on her face. She was useful and not to just anyone, but to Zuri and Estelle!! Two lionesses she thought were just the bees knees! AND she got to help the guards too! She felt all kinds good and she just HAD to tell someone about it that wasn't grumpy. As she padded his direction her pace picked up into a trot with excitement and she called out his name. "Hamdan!! You wont believe this!"

Hamdan loved gossip.

He’d been looking rather heavy-lidded, as if a nap was imminent when Ikarta approached. That brightened his right up, his eyes widening with eager anticipation and his mouth curling into a grin. “Oh, do tell!” One paw patted the hot ground beside him, offering a position at his side where they could chat.
