Warnersister They also cut a scene out of the episode with Beethoven, where the Warners make a play of the word "pianist" meaning that he should wash his mouth out with soap. I could've sworn that was originally left in.

I could've sworn that was originally left in. Maybe it was on the first airing, but the one I have taped off ITV (probably from "What's Up, Doc?") doesn't show it - though they do refer to him as Mr Potty Mouth later. Maybe it just doesn't show them bigging it up so much... DW

Then I probably caught a later rerun. ITV went through a stage of cutting Animaniacs down to make room for more commercials. They did the same with Quack Pack. In fact, I distinctly remember editting together a complete ep of Quack Pack out of 2 different reruns. Blasted ITV! And now they're getting rid of their children's department entirely. If only that meant a diet of non-stop decent cartoon reruns...
TV Cream has certainly noticed a distinct lack of original programming on 3...

TVShowsondvd.com has this to say on the subject of the performance of the Animaniacs boxset and the release date of the next one. My countdown clock will shortly need resetting to December 5th (just as soon as I've got my Darkwing release date out of the way!). DW

Terrestrial channels're turning into more of an intellectual ghetto of gardening, "reality" TV and makeover shows by the day.

We do get the odd spot of decent drama, and the fact remains I still find more on them than most of digital. Nontheless, as you know, there's a reason why I live happily without tv.

At least *Warners* aren't cutting stuff. See the Disney thread for my rant...

Well, I got the Animaniacs volume 2 boxset for my birthday and have just finished watching it. 5 discs, with 1hr 45 of Animaniacs on each, plus a half hour session with the writers at the end of the last disc, hosted by Maurice "The Brain" LaMarche - so *that's* what Sherri Stoner looks like.
The episodes are getting funnier, which is as I remember it - I always preferred the later ones where they were particularly manic. There was a trailer for the DVD I was watching which featured, as far as I can tell, clips from not one single episode that was actually on the disc - they were all the later ones, some of which I expect to see on volume 3. Things like "Star Truck" - "We're Kling-ons, get it?" smile
Some cartoons on there that I thought I might never see again - including "Windsor Hassle", where the entire Royal Family is thoroughly lampooned, including Diana and the Queen Mother. Anvils are also involved at one point... Also "Critical Condition", where Slappy takes revenge on Siskel & Ebert types who lambast her laser disc. Memorable for the line I only ever saw on the Cartoon Network, after 9pm...
Anyhow, very enjoyable smile Next up: the complete Sonic the Hedgehog...

This may be a new record for me, but quadruple post it is smile
According to TVshowsondvd.com, it sounds like Anchor Bay's abortive attempt to release "The Man From UNCLE" on DVD has prodded Warners into action. Since they are the ones with the rights (apparently - and this makes sense since they bought all of MGM's back catalogue when they merged with Turner), they have apparently decided to release the series. They released the movies a few years ago already.
Robert Vaughn was commenting that he'd recorded some new material for extras for Warners (having been paid to do the same thing for Anchor Bay smile ) - and David McCallum had been doing the same thing! Yay for Illya & Napoleon!
No news yet on a release date, but here's to a $2 pound when it does come out...
