The ref ran over and slid across the mat, ready for the pinfall.

An early kick out, but one that showed Drako had the control back in this match. It was also worth noting that kicking out of a pinfall attempt also took energy; that same energy that might be needed in the long-run of this match.

Nuke definitely seems to be back in fighting shape, something Drako intends to test heavily as the match goes on. In the spirit of keeping things old school, he aims to wear him down some more as he attempts to sit Nuke up for a reverse chinlock hold

Drako continued to show his expertise as the chinlock was put into place, causing Nuke some definite discomfort.
The ref came around to make sure that there was no tapping out here, as Fusion grit his teeth.
It was, however, pretty locked in at this point as Drako resumed control.

sometimes the old methods are best. Drako keeps the hold in, intent on wearing down his legendary foe right here. The younger generation may not utilize these all that often, but Drako is almost twenty years into the game. Sometimes one has to go for the simple and effective

That chinlock was in nice and well, but Nuke gritted his teeth and clenched harder, trying to activate his core.
He pushed upwards with his body, aiming to see if he can transition onto his knees.

Nuke is getting some movement in, which isn't unexpected. Drako at this point is aiming simply to keep the pressure on and force him to exert as much energy as possible if he wants to escape

If Nuke were to say this wasn't affecting him, that would straight up be a lie. He felt tightness, pressure, and pain across his entire skull at this point.
Slowly but surely he was trying to get to a vertical base.
Once in a position to do so, he would aim to twist his body slightly and aim a couple stiff elbows to the ribs of Drako.

Drako is rocked by elbows to the ribs. Nuke has really pointy elbows and each one forces the Soaring Dragon to release him from the chinlock and back up a step

Nuke twisted his neck to try and get some feeling back in to that area, before turning to face Drako.
He aimed to step forward and bring his knee up into Damone's gut, which he would them aim to follow up with a downwards elbow to the back of Drako's neck.

a knee knocks the wind out of of Drako and doubles him over, only for an elbow to the back of the neck to drop him down to his knees, instinctively clutching his neck

Nuke has Drako on his knees now, and an opportunity to grind him down in return.
Fusion aimed a hard knee to the side of his opponent's head, aiming to knock him over.
If successful, he would aim to mount Drako and start throwing strikes down at him, a little MMA-style.

already kneeling, Drako is easy prey for the knee to the head, knocking him sideways to the mat. The fun doesn't stop there as Nuke mounts and starts raining down the blows. Not exactly the good time Drako was looking for as he has to cover up from the blows, all he can manage for the moment after the knee knocked the sense out of him

The ref began a count to get Nuke off Drako but, at this point, he was just trying to get some good strikes in.
Before he was disqualified, Fusion would move his body and aim to get down low and get Damone in a headlock.

from mounted strikes to now a headlock, the Soaring Dragon definitely seems to be grounded. Too many shots to the head leaves him in the headlock just aware enough to make sure one shoulder is off the mat to avoid a pin

Which was exactly Nuke's next move, as he looks to move the lock and push Drako's shoulders to the mat.
Could he steal the win here?
