I've used critical analysis most recently in my chemistry class last semester in order to understand why each step of the process is necessary, and how each chemical reaction produced the result.
Outside of school, I tend to use critical analysis in my everyday life. Whether it be in conversations about the environment, current events, relationships, religion/culture, and how all of these factors shape the reality that we live in, or when making informed and efficient decisions throughout the day.

I would say I am mostly comfortable with writing essays about literature. Although I enjoy connecting ideas and sharing my input on certain topics, I can get a little distracted. My philosophy of "everything can be improved" can make it a tad difficult for me to complete an essay.

I am reading Call It Sleep by Henry Roth and Gaia Alchemy by Stephan Harding. A couple of comics I read here and there include The Eagle and The Snake by Angel Tovar, Marionetta by Miriam Bonastre Tur, and One Piece by Eiichiro Oda.

Overall I gravitate toward novels and comics that feature themes of survival, dystopia, and action.
When referring to a specific piece of work, It is hard to pick just one... I will have to go with Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi as my favorite. When I found out that Persepolis became banned from the public school curriculum after I graduated, I gave my copy of the complete memoir to my younger cousins who are currently in high school. I believe that this book is important to the growing minds of young minds (especially girls) and by not assigning these kinds of books to new generations of kids, our education system is doing them a huge disservice.

What is your most recent experience with critical analysis and critical thinking?

My most recent experience with critical thinking was when I was conducting a meeting at my job. I am an office manager at an ophthalmology office in Scarsdale NY and we were having a team meeting. I had to adhere and respond to team members often passionate suggestions and then offer honest, realistic, and constructive criticism, while keeping my own potential biases and opinions out of the decision.

This is an intensive writing course. What is your comfort level with writing essays about literature?
I currently am not too comfortable to be honest. I have not been exposed to many different forms of literature and poetry, but I am willing to try.

What are you currently reading?
This forum...LOL JK...I am actually currently reading the bible. I am currently exploring my faith and reading the bible.

What is your favourite creative text -- such as a novel, memoir, poetry collection...?

My favorite novels I have ever read were Harry Potter, when I was younger. I really like fantasy novels and movies and these books were so detailed and graphic that I felt like I was there.
