“Yeah, it’s heavy enough you can probably get some pretty good blunt force going on,” she said. “Better range than my staff, too. And, like, I wouldn’t have even thought about trying to choke someone with it. That’s creative.” She was glad that he would have more of a chance to be able to protect himself or to take down some bad guys, now.
“And if you break it and use the shards to, like, take someone’s liver out? That would be a power move.” A moment passed, her nose wrinkling. “Kind of a gross power move, and probably a little much, so,” she shrugged. War was war, but torture especially made her skin crawl and her wrists itch. “Yeah, maybe don’t do that one.”
Honestly, she wasn’t gleeful about any of it. She wasn’t a pacifist like Pendour, she understood the necessity of violence and stuff sometimes, but she didn’t like it. That was why she tried kissing people, why she tried whatever other options she could think of.
“I mean, hopefully you don’t have to do any of it that much, but when it comes down to it, I’m glad you can, you know?”

At being called creative at being able to choke someone out with it, he actually shot a grin at her. “Thank you!” Honestly, combined with the distance he can get on the weapon that she had pointed out, it could be a great way to make sure that he could cut people off in their tracks. Swing the weapon over his head, grab someone by their neck, suddenly have them feeling a weight they couldn't deal with–
Knights didn't seem to get typical weapons, but they certainly had ways they could deal with it. Perhaps the ways he was thinking of were ways that were making her uncomfortable though. He saw the way she seemed to be squirming, and the fact that she called it a gross power move, especially when he pointed out that he could definitely gut someone if he could break his clay beaker the right way. Promethei rubbed his neck.
“Well, how's this. I’ll only go for that if I have to.” And that was true! Going for harsher moves tended to be messier anyway. He mostly just wanted to make sure that people stopped ******** with his friends or his students.
He didn't think that was too much to ask.

“But, yeah, only if we have to, right? That’s kinda how we have to think, with war and everything.” She still probably would’ve tried to talk him out of trying to cut someone up with a dull piece of jug clay, but there were going to be times where you couldn’t be nice. “We hope for the best, and we get ready to beat people up if we have to. And, like, I should probably work on my fighting stuff more, if I’m gonna lay off on the kissing Chaos boys for a while.”
At least, the Chaos boys that weren’t Cryolite.
“Oh, and, like, speaking of fighting and getting powerful, I figured out how to do this thing,” she said. “Or, like, I made a magic friend, depending on how you look at this?”
She held up the arm with the butterfly bracelet on it, focused, and the ethereal butterfly popped out, flying around them.
“It’s Flutters!” she said.

“War sucks like that,” he noted, grimly. Promethei had unfortunately already gotten used to looking at this as something he was just going to have to do at some point. He had already nearly killed one of his husbands. There was no telling what was going to be required to protect them and himself. If he was going to have to actually try and gut someone with pieces of his clay beaker, he would do what he would have to do.
But hopefully it wouldn't come to that.
“That being said, I think laying off the kissing the Chaos Boys is a good idea.” But if she kept kissing Cryolite, he wouldn't say anything to her brother. It would stay between them. And probably his husbands.
He was a gossip through and through–
Promethei's eyes widened when their conversation shifted from war to magic butterflies of all things. “Oh hey! Where did you get them?” Had it just been hanging out in her little bracelet that whole time? Magic was wild-

The little butterfly kept fluttering around them. When Nikki held her hand out to it, it landed there. “I found the bracelet on my Wonder,” she told him, “And the Code piece, like, activated it? Maybe it’s like a signet ring or something, you just have to look around.” She shrugged and then let the butterfly dissolve into sparkles again once it had been sufficiently shown off. “It’d be cool if you could find one, too.”
She hoped it would be a leopard. He deserved it.

There was a part of him that wondered if her finding it so easily was an element of her having just founded her Wonder this generation. Promethei University had been around before him, and honestly from what he understood it seemed like it had been around before Dr. Felix as well. Wherever his own little magical creature was, if he even had one, it was likely to be somewhere else.
On his wonder of course, but easily findable? He wasn't so certain of that. Unless it was in his office like the code piece was, maybe he made everything easy on himself and just kept everything relevant in one spot.
That would be convenient.
“Maybe I'll look around for it next time I can make some time to get up there.” From the way he worded that, it didn't sound like he made it up there very often. And considering the impending beginning of the semester, his time was probably about to come even less. He'd figure it out.
… Maybe.
Nectaris seemed interested though, so maybe he'd try. Or he'd get Emain Ablach to try first. That seemed easier-

His phrasing about his Wonder made Nectaris narrow her eyes at him a little bit. Like, did she care if people avoided space? Not really. She wasn’t, like, her brother, trying to pressure people into that kind of thing.
Promethei specifically had made her a deal, though.
“Wait, so you have time in the next couple weeks to go after my wayward Chaos boy, but you don’t have time to go hang out on your Wonder for a little bit?” she asked, and then she scooted closer to him, nudging him with her shoulder again, playfully this time. “‘Cause, you promised me that we would go hang out in your magic lab, remember? And, also, I really need to get my mind off of things, you know?” She fluttered her eyelashes, giggled. “And I could help you look for magic artifacts or whatever.”
He was strong now, but what if there was even more he could do?

… Ah, s**t.
Right.
He had mentioned that, and now she was angling the fact that he had also mentioned the fact that he was offering to help her with the chaos boy issue as proof he did have at least some time. At least for her. To show her a space lab. And also to keep distracting her from things. Like the chaos boys. Or at least the runaway coward chaos boy that she was definitely no longer kissing.
“Alright, alright, you've made your point,” he swatted up flippantly, crossing one leg over the other as he nudged her back in turn. If it would get her mind off the runaway a*****e boy, he'd do what he had to do.
Even if it meant going to his other university in space.
… At least this one didn't have imminent needed syllabi, admittedly.

She’d made her point? Nikki smirked. She was interested to see what weird science stuff he had up there, and anyway, she bet he would have fun if he actually bothered to go up there and visit. After all, he’d seemed to be having the time of his life poking around in her space lab.
“Okay, so it’s settled, then,” she said. “Our next gossip sesh has to happen on Mercury.”

“I'll warn you,” he snorted, “it's just kinda cold. Big a** university. Looks like you put DCU in space basically but made it colder and glowier.” It was conceptually pretty interesting that he had always been so deeply connected to academia, but he was still connected to academia. Space science was cool but he also had current science and maybe he could go talk to the astronomy professors…
But he had promised her before. And it would be a good distraction.
Maybe her chaos boy would be interested in space, too. Maybe getting introduced to some other things in space would make him more interested in actually leaving.
Couldn't hurt, he supposed. The hell was an agent actually going to do on a frozen planet millions of miles away?

As Promethei kept trying to downplay his Wonder, Nectaris started clapping her hands rhythmically on her thighs. “Space lab,” she chanted. “Space lab. Space lab. Space lab.” She was gonna be hyped about it, even if he wasn’t. Had he just said it glowed? What wasn’t cool about that? Her wonder didn’t glow.
Once she felt like she’d sufficiently hyped everything up, she slid up off the bench and stretched, leaning side to side first, and then backwards. “Thanks for coming out to talk to me, though. I feel, like, a million times better now.”
Would she cry again tonight? Yeah, maybe, but then she’d wake up and she’d have space labs and bar jeopardy fashion to think about.

She was admittedly more hyped about the concept than he was, but he would let her have it. Considering she had the whiplash of her third showing up with her boyfriend and then said boyfriend ******** just teleporting way entirely on them both as her only counterbalance to that, her being hyped over his space university was fine.
He would still say he did warn her it was that interesting though--
When she jumped up and grinned at him to show that she was, and also that she was feeling a bit better... Well, at least it was worth it. Promethei was in no rush to get up, but he did resolve some of the mess by simply shoving it back into his subspace pocket. He'd deal with that... Later. Probably. Before his husbands needed something out of it and he couldn't ******** find it--
"Of course." Promethei shot her a grin from his sitting position. "Got you any time, alright? You know where to find me. Or any of my husbands, really. You know where any of them are."
Though he knew that there were specific topics that the two of them shared, and perhaps those were the easiest to help her distress in the wake of ... Well. All of that. Whatever worked. She had helped Teegan out so much that he felt like he should offer the same in turn.
Plus, he liked her, anyway.
"See you around, Nikki. ...And that potential chaos boy, of course."
