Kerberos nodded, firmly. “Between all of us, I think we can do it. And, if worst comes to worst and it’s too much for you, Ida? Cosmos has never not come when she’s called, in my experience. No matter where you are. When she came for me, we were on a Wonder in space, so hopefully coming to your asteroid will be no problem.”
But truth be told, Kerberos didn’t believe they would need her. He was firm in his certainty: Ida would be able to do it, especially with all the help they were providing. She was a Senshi whose world loved her, who had connected with it deeply enough to Transcend. Surely it would aid her in this.
“And you will really be glad to have a cat on hand,” Kerberos said. “I had to get lucky finding one to help me out—but Mauvians can do so much for us.”
It felt like the moment was fast approaching. Like all would come to a head, soon.

Okay, well………apparently, Reiki had not actually broken everything by having incomplete knowledge and making assumptions based on thinking that Ida was great and could do anything she set her mind to.…… That was good, Reiki thought. But Kerberos had no reason to lie right now—every reason to do the exact opposite, really—and for all he said that you could purify two people at once, he also said that even Miss Alpha and Omega Supermodel of the Cosmos got exhausted by doing it.
Purify Volterra first instead of me, ne deserves it more than I do lingered on his tongue, but Reiki couldn’t make himself say it. Whether that came down to selfishness or simply not wanting to jinx all this
“Yeah, a phone would be nice,” he huffed, pulling out his Mirror-compact. “I don’t think I’ve ever shown either of you this, but look at it.” Reiki held the stupid thing out for them to see more up close. “This is what we’ve been working with in the Mirror. All they do is call or leave messages for other Mirror senshi, which is like ‘Okay, fine,’ except it only rarely gets used by anybody. The person who uses it most mostly just sends the compact equivalent of weird-a** group-texts that most people probably don’t read—which is fair enough? Hybris of Eggplants is kind of an adorable, terrified purse dog of a person, and *I* like him, but most people likely don’t have time for his ramblings about how some youma made him run to protect his starseed, and running was like work, which was so unfair to him personally because he doesn’t enjoy doing work.”
Idly, Reiki wondered if Hybris had run into Achird of Aubergines yet. Personally, he hoped not. He wanted to be there when that confrontation happened, because it would probably be really funny (and if someone needed to step in and tell Achird to go pick on someone who could actually fight back, well. Reiki could do that, then).
A tiny pop! noise snapped him out of wondering about that for too long, instead bringing Reiki face-to-face with a sheet of very familiar stationery bearing the image of Hello Kitty dressed up like she fell on the sale rack at Hot Topic.
“Another reason why I need the phone,” he grumbled, snatching the paper out of the air and scanning (but not reading too closely) what seemed to be (as usual) a very kind and sweet message that kinda made him feel bad for being annoyed by its existence in his general vicinity. “Kaifeng of Saturn is fine? He’s always really sweet when he sends these out of nowhere? But the ability to message him back like ‘Hey, I’m busy right now, can you please wait’ or quietly ignore his message until later? Would be great. Instead of having it happen where I’m trying to deal with a youma and suddenly, his Goth Hello Kitty stationery demands my attention.”
(There was also the issue that Reiki would have preferred to be messaging Kaifeng’s significant other. Being able to just text Helene without needing to involve Kaifeng sounded awesome. He harbored no delusions about being able to entirely avoid Kaifeng while trying to befriend Helene, but still, Reiki felt like an Order senshi phone would give him some ******** space to talk to Helene without Kaifeng being a middleman or a weird third-party presence.)
“But……we can burn that bridge when we get there.” In the spirit of Kaifeng, can you please not, Reiki shunted the message from Kaifeng into his subspace. With a sigh, he looked around at Ida, Kerberos, Yuki, and Cersei one last time (though in the last case, she seemed too blissed out on having So Much Attention to notice that she was being looked at by someone who had several things in common with Her Person but felt like he fundamentally was not Her Person). “I should get going before Volterra gets antsy and comes to drag me off by the ponytail. Ne can’t get to Mirrorspace without me, and I’ve got a date with some deepfake b***h who wants to make me stay.”
