Belmont, Squire of Jupiter
Belmont was not at his most graceful right now, which was a good reminder to work on footwork if he was feeling up to it. He’d prioritized speed over stability and he liked to think he could have made it across if he hadn’t instead found himself worried about Connie being carried downstream.
Instinct demanded he should just go in after her, no matter how prepared or capable she was–but she was in all that fabric! What if it got snagged on something?
Perdita had done better than he had; when he landed, he splashed a bit and felt his boots stick to the mud. He hadn’t bothered to try catching himself; his arm was already protesting enough from the last time.
“Are you good?” he asked Perdita as he trotted along the water to try and help Connie before she was totally swept away. He was back in the water and stretched as much as he could so he didn’t wind up totally soaked; he held out a hand to her so he could try and help pull her out.

Dering, Squire of Lysithea Total: 4
Reims looked like he knew what he was doing and Dering was paying close attention to everywhere that he stepped so he could repeat his path. He never had any doubt that Reims would have made it across–if he hadn’t been hit by tumbling children.
Dering yelped and stretched his hand to try and catch the page but his fingers brushed only air, and despite his best efforts to hurry after him. He was spared the worst of the current, and though he was covered in water and mud he was in one piece. And, hopefully everyone else was, too. The little girl seemed safe, and she was already being helped out, so Dering stumbled to get to Reims.
He didn’t care that his clothes were sticking to him or that he was a bit of a mess, he was just worried about his friend. He held out a hand to help him up. “Are you okay? Can I help you up?”

Quote: 3-4: You slip off a rock, but towards the edge of the water where you’re able to dig your heels into the creek bed and not get carried off. You’re still wet, but at least you didn’t lose too much time. Total: 4 Knight Tanais of MarsWhile arm wrestling had been the main draw of this whole thing, there was an appeal to the obstacle course. A chance to show off, though she wouldn't admit that out loud. Or hopefully, anyway. Still a chance she could ******** this up royally.
Tanais shook herself out as she approached the marked start of the course, swinging her arms and rolling her shoulders to loosen up some of the tension that came with the anticipation and excitement. She could do this. She just had to stay focused and pay attention to the path ahead of her. No distractions, no detours. Just the quickest way over each obstacle. Yeah.
Crouching down, she nodded at the guy holding the stop watch, and then she was off and running, legs pumping. The water came up fast and she was on it before she had much time to think about, trusting her instinct to take her from rock to rock across the water. Her confidence grew as the other side got closer, until a patch of something slippery and green caught her foot and she slid. Water fountained as she splashed down into it, sticking dark strands of hair to her face and shoulders while her cape dragged at her, caught in the current.
Struggling to the shore, she was out of it quickly enough, but now she was wet and her boots squelched as she took off running again, pushing to make up for time she'd lost with her dunking.

Quote: 3-4: You jump, and grab the top of the wall just by your fingertips. You pull yourself slowly up. You did it! Total: 8A wall loomed ahead, tall enough to block out the view of the rest of the trail. Tanais picked up her speed as she charged it, counting her steps as it grew closer.
With a shout, she slammed both feet into the ground and leaped, surging upwards to catch the top edge of the wall in her hands. Straining, arms flexing, she pulled herself up in a smooth motion, snagging the top edge with a foot when she'd gotten enough height. Easy peasy. She grinned inwardly as she threw herself down the other side, landing hard in a crouch before she was off again.

Quote: 5-6: You’re a natural at this, or maybe you’ve just been through a lot of ropes courses. You whiz through everything in a matter of seconds. Total: 13Her boots grated on stone rather than dirt as Tanais left the wall behind, her pacing slowing only a little as she took in the crazy assortment of ropes strung up ahead of her. Were they in the circus or something? There was far less confidence in her this time as she jumped to the first rope, grabbing for the hand holds above as everything swayed.
Just keep focused. She could do this. Her balance was good, as long as she didn't let herself get distracted.
The knight paced along the ropes as quickly as she could push herself without losing control of her balance, her whole body straining to keep her stable as she moved. One foot, then the next, slide her hands along... Navigating through each tree to the next proved a greater challenge, but she kept tight control of herself.
Then suddenly she'd reached the end and jumped for it, landing hard before she pushed herself into another run.

Quote: 1-2: It takes an embarrassingly long time to get the rope off from around the tree. It’s just giving you a hard time for some reason. Once you’re zipping, you’re fine, but you lost some time there. Total: 15Of all the things to go wrong, right at the end of a good run...
Tanais skidded to a halt at the zip line and... found herself struggling with the damned rope! Someone must have knotted it extra tight, because it was defeating every attempt to unravel it. And the more she struggled, the more frustration bubbled under her determined surface, making her attempts more and more clumsy. Still-wet fingers did not help.
"God damn it!" She barked as she jiggled the knot, finally easing enough give into the whole thing she could tug the rope free. Gripping it tight, she jumped for the zip line and held tight, riding the whole contraption down to the end. Landing with a hard thud, she darted for the finish line and blew past it in a rush, stumbling to a halt past the blue-haired man and bracing hands on knees to catch her breath.

Deep Space SelinuirComing out of the water soaking wet, and nicely chilled, the blond was more excited than he had been going into this. He felt better now that he was cooled off, because his uniform had always been too warm for him, he understood it was protection against the elements but he'd never liked it. It was far too warm for him - too many layers. Continuing down the path he soon found the next obstacle - a wall to climb.
It wasn't a tree, which was easy to climb, but this shouldn't be too hard either even if it was a stright verticle climb. Approaching it at a run the ancient senshi leapt up at the last moment in the hopes of getting to the top. The tips of one boot touched the wood as he sought to push himself up to the top. His fingers touched, and curled around the top of the wood, as he hung there for a moment. Using his feet he was able to get his other hand on the lip of the topmost plant of wood. It was slow but he was able to haul himself up and drop down on the other side. It was more effrot than he'd planned on it being, but it was done, and now he had another task to face. Taking a few moments to collect himself, to even his breathing, he took a moment to look around to see who else he saw.

Super Sailor YmirSurtur spoke to another senshi and Ymir’s stomach plummeted. He had hoped to avoid others, but that would obviously not be happening now. Surtur was far too friendly for his own good. Ymir gave his hand a brutal squeeze to indicate how displeased he was that Surtur had purposefully drawn attention to them.
“I’m fine,” he mumbled—quiet, unsociable, and unwilling to accept the concern of a stranger. His shoes were wet. His pants were, too. His pride was intact, at least, but his enthusiasm for this course (if he’d had any to begin with) was quickly waning.
Ymir failed to introduce himself. He knew it was rude not to, that Beira probably didn’t deserve such a cold reception, but Ymir didn’t have it in himself to be welcoming. No doubt Surtur would make the introductions for him. Surtur was better at carrying a conversation, in any case. Ymir rarely had anything relevant to say to anyone.
He turned for the next part of the course, making a running jump for the wall. He didn’t clear it, but he managed to jump high enough to grab the top and hoisted himself up with only minimal struggle.Current Total: 8
