Zoicite blinked in confusion, the nudge throwing him off as he tried to figure out what she was pointing at. Once he figured it out though the teen let out a flurry of bubbles as he started to prey the little attachments from his clothing, shaking his head to try to free himself of any additional ones that he had missed. As cute as they were, he wasn't looking for any accessories today! The only things he wanted to collect were the pieces of the reef that were in the sand, the teen moving to pick up a few and tuck them into the satchel that was tied to his belt. He showed a few pieces to his sister, the vibrant oranges and yellows especially catching his interest, and then tucked them safely away so that they could continue through the reef. So far no big creatures had shown up, just some various fish and smaller creatures peeking towards them through the coral and seaweed, but Zoicite was continued to keep going forward to see if something would appear soon.

DeeDee couldn't help laughing at Zoicite's surprise, and reached over to gently pluck off one of the little riders for him. She nodded with approval at the pieces showed to her. They were going to have quite a wonderful collection to take back home!

A small opening in the reef caught her eye. The entry was only slightly bigger than her arm, and seemed impossibly dark. Something interesting must have been in there! She slowly reached into the depths.. only to almost immediately bump into something pitch dark. She had just enough sense to quickly yank her hand back while the darkness shifted and quivered. A row of shape, narrow teeth under a set of beady eyes suddenly appeared to snap where her fingers had been a second ago. She yelped and kicked back from the hole as a long and thin creature zipped out by her. It slunk away through the reef with irritation while the teen pressed a hand over her chest. Scary!

Aww. Nanami covered her mouth to try to hide her expression. As bad as she felt for Gin Ae there was just something adorable about his reaction. "Hmm...looks like another tide is coming in. How about a final round before we go to that tidepool?" She asked lightly, taking a step back so that her children could have a final attempt at shells. Nanami crouched as if ready to grab at any shells that showed up even as she knew that she wouldn't actually be trying to grab more than one this time around to give both children a better chance. But it didn't hurt to look serious, just as motivation for them to get more involved with the challenge.

"Re-really?" Kailani beamed with pride at her catch before her expression dropped at the sight of Gin Ae's own disappointment. Oh....the girl frowned, preparing to reach into her own satchel to retrieve the shells that she had just placed away, but then their Makuahine was talking about another wave and a second chance. So maybe this time! Kailani's gaze brightened as she looked over at Gin Ae and gave a nod. "You got this." She encouraged him as the water came rushing forward again and left behind a good haul of shells and other various things from the ocean.

Kailani did rush forward to try to grab a couple of things, but like Nanami she wasn't intent upon completely snatching everything since the girl was more concerned with Gin Ae having some fun with them than actually winning. "Two..." She mused lightly as she picked a rainbow shell from the ground, a twisted version like the little crab from earlier but thankfully empty without any occupants. Then there was a closed shell, one that maybe had something else in it if they could pry it apart later. Those were her two prizes that she held onto tightly as she took a step to the side to give Gin Ae plenty of room to go for whatever he wanted until the next rush of water took everything away from them again.

Part of him just wanted to retreat from any further attempts. He'd already embarrassed himself once, so he was sure to just do it again! He peeked up at his twin's encouragement though, and peered at Nanami as well, and felt a tiny smile rise. Maybe...

Though still hesitant with his lip caught between his teeth, he looked down at the incoming water. He stooped down and scooped up whatever he could reach. Even though he'd seen what he had grabbed, it wasn't until he opened his hands for display that he relaxed and smiled. "Five! Just like your first one, Kailani!" he chirped happily. And no clinging crab either!

Kailani smiled at her twin's enthusiasm. "Nice." She praised him as well, moving closer so that she could peek at what he had gathered. "Do you like this shell? We might have to crack it open later and see what's inside, if you're interested." She offered quietly, showing Gin Ae the sealed shell she had found. If there were pearls then maybe they could split them, and if there was only one then maybe it could be traded for something else if any of her siblings were interested in it. She twisted the shell another moment before looking at her mother and nodding, the offer of the tidepools enticing her to take a few steps closer and away from the next approaching wave. If they found all of this just from the shoreline then what treasure would be lurking in the tidepools? So far Kahi was full of surprising things and Kailani was eager to see what else they could discover on the beach today.

As the coral gave way to a somewhat clearer stretch of sandy bottom, DeeDee took a deep breath of contentment. Now that she'd gotten that scare out of the way, the rest of the day was sure to go well. Her heart was calming and the resulting playfulness took over. She gave her brother a grin and started rolling and flipping as she swam along. She reached out her hands with each roll and swept her fingers through the sand below to idly sift for treasures.
