Never it be said that Sodalite wasn't a team player. Although when it came to pinata bashing it turned out that while it was technically a team sport there was only one victor. And that was the person who eventually burst open the paper mache creation to get at all the loot inside. So when it came down to finding out that a hastily erected pinata had been installed in the corner of the Thanksgiving Feast hosted by General Aquamarine, of course it would draw the attention of the lieutenant. It was basically in the shape of turkey but other little additions had made their way onto the pinata and Sodalite's only reaction to the wig, crown and sign was to hastily jerk a thumb over his shoulder as to ask others in line if this was an actual representation of an enemy?
When he got the reply Sodalite once more scrutinized the creation that was Turkeymede before simply shrugging. If he ever came across the real person behind this maybe he'd show her images just to see what her reaction would be like. That was actually a good idea. Taking out his tablet Sodalite snapped a few pictures of the pinata's appearance and those that stood in line waiting for their turn at smacking the s**t out of Turkeymede. Heck, it was even better with video as one could record the sound too. When it came to his turn though Sodalite ran into a little problem, one could not record themselves and the action at the same time. Finding a little stool though provided the perfect recording angle and once Sodalite had found a prop to set the tablet against did Sodalite willingly step forward, accepting the stick they were using (really, was this just a discarded broom?) before taking his turn in line. Giving his tablet a mock salute did the lieutenant accept being blindfolded for his turn. After being spun around a few times did Sodalite then step forward to take a first swing at the turkey. The stick managed a decent strike but as there was no reaction from the crowd of participants he knew nothing had happened. He wasn't surprised to find its durability was stronger than it looked. It would really have stunk to have the thing burst open immediately because well, even those that were at the bottom of the totem pole in terms of status here had enhanced strength. Some of those that looked like they were willing to have a turn could have even been at a higher level. So considering everything just hitting the thing was a feat in itself.
Once he'd taken three swings at the pinata did Sodalite pull down his blindfold and collect the tablet he'd put down for his turn before reviewing the video. Satisfaction with how he had managed was evident but there was a little voice inside speaking of how he could have improved his chances at striking Turkeymede. Watching as others began striking the pinata more squarely had Sodalite making observations about where it was that he could try to strike next should he get the chance. The line of participants had not grown in the meantime, but neither had it shrunk at all. Taking more video than was probably necessary Sodalite began to feel a mild surge of amusement at everything. It had been interesting at first to take pictures that would tell a story, but to actually demonstrate just how vicious those of the Negaverse could be to a pinata gussied up as one of their highest threats was worthwhile to record. Once the line thinned and it became clear that he would indeed get another turn at trying to break the pinata open did Sodalite once more attempt to prop his tablet at the right angle that would see either his success or failure at attempting to smash Turkeymede to bits and pieces: to see the stuffing knocked clean out of the interior. He snorted at the mental imagery before once more consenting to be blindfolded for the three tries he'd get at hitting the pinata. Feeling hands spin him around in an attempt to disorient did Sodalite wait for things to settle before he breathed in deeply. There was a certain logic to his actions now. The best thing would be to ignore everything that was going on behind him in an attempt to refocus all his available senses to where the pinata was located. As he brandished the stick and inched forward at a snail's pace did the lieutenant bring the stick up in smooth gesture before believing he had found the place that he needed to swing for. Whirling the stick around did Sodalite feel the solid impact of his strike reverberate down the shaft of the pole that was being used before grinning suddenly. The idea now was to repeat that move two more times in order to do the most damage. Once more did he shut out the distractions behind him in order to refocus on where the pinata would be swinging above him. Bringing his arms up once more did Sodalite swing mightily with all of the strength afforded to him and felt a mild satisfaction as once more the stick made contact with the pinata.
I'm allowed one more hit this round. I think though this little homage to Ganymede is ready to burst open though with one more good strike. I should make it count.
There was a moment in which Sodalite adjusted his stance, taking on the appearance of someone who was at bat in a baseball game before his brought the stick up in a position that was indicative of what sort of approach he was going for in this last swing. He focused on only the sounds that mattered before inching forward a step or two before bringing the stick around in a powerful swing that made a solid "thwak" with the side of the pinata and not only did Sodalite feel a difference in the way that the strike had felt but there was a sound of the pinata breaking free from its mooring and hitting the ground. When Sodalite removed his blindfold he could observe the damage that he'd caused for himself and smiled grimly before retrieving his tablet to zoom in on the carnage that a downed and cracked open pinata had created. Various candies had burst open and littered the ground and instead of focusing on gathering some up did Sodalite merely sigh before turning to put the stick aside. In reality, none of the candy that had spilled out was to his liking, but it had still been fun to take turns at destroying Turkeymede. He watched stoically for a minute longer before turning of the video record function before making his way back to the spread of the Thanksgiving feast before helping himself to what seemed like a bountiful round of seconds.
