Lorelai let out a breath of relief and started towards the dinghy quickly. At the edge of the boat, however, she remembered her manners.
"Ah, yes, sorry, I'm Lorelai." Her tails moved quietly behind her, and gentle pink eyes fixed on Masamba. "I - I appreciate you letting me go, the idea of getting wet, goodness, I'd rather fight snakes." She cleared her throat and looked around at the other maikitsu and extended her introduction to them, "Pleasure to meet you all. I think I'll also search the beach with my new friend here. I'm not very sharp with my transformation magicks yet, but I can search well, I blend into the shadows, and.. um.." she pulled her ears back and tails against her sides, making herself appear much smaller, "I'm a good fighter, actually," she whispered.
"Anyway!" Lorelai unfurled from her diminutive pose and leaped for the dinghy. "See you all ashore!"

Shine nodded at the sailors words, their yes parking up when they heard the word swim. Shine loved to swim, and having the smell of salt water on their fur gave them a euphoria they couldn't quite understand.
”I shall swim to the island to save space for those who wish to stay dry.”
As they finished their sentence, they checked to make sure there was nothing else that needed to be said and made a flying leap into the water, their tails and legs pumping their body to the shore.
Tadashi got settled in the dinghy and got ready to help catch Lorelai as she claimed a spot on the dinghy. "I've gotcha." He said, "Very nice to meet you Lorelai. There's an empty spot just in front that you can take." There was just enough room for one more Makitsu to squeeze in if anyone cared to take the dry route to shore. He'd wait a few moments longer before taking up the oars to paddle them to shore.
((One more person can join the dinghy and my next post will be the update to move on and start the search in the Shrine. As a note while you will be able to look at the beach some, Tadashi has already searched it and hasn't found anything besides the footprints and the lack of masks. The main focus of the searching is going to be in the Shrine grounds during the day and night))

Mezcla had listened intently to all that Tadashi had said as their group finished arriving, moved onto the boat, and sailed towards their destination. He was uncharacteristically quiet as he mulled over the information. At some point everyone had started polite introductions so he added his own. "Nice to meet everyone, I'm Mezcla." He said to the group as a whole, taking note of everyone else's names as they were said. His tails were flicking around as he continued to mull over Tadashi's information. He wasn't much of a planner, so he was more than happy to go wherever the group decided they needed him more. Once given directions he was great, he would follow them to the letter, but the actual planning portion he wasn't as useful as he wished he could be. He was pulled back to the present when one of the others...Lorelai right?, had said she preferred to ride the dinghy. He nodded encouragement to her to hop on, personally he was excited to try swimming. The mechanics were pretty straight forward and he was hoping he wouldn't make a huge fool of himself. He watched as the pretty blue one just launched themself into the water, leaning his head over the boat to watch them start swimming. He could do that. He could absolutely do that. With a grin he readied himself to follow Shine. "Well here goes nothing." his voice was a little shaky, but full of excitement as he stood on the edge of the boat. He tensed up and dove into the water, letting out a gasp at the sudden feeling of water over his entire body. There was no way he could describe the way it felt and he had to shake his head to clear his thoughts before he started kicked his legs, nose pointing towards the shore as he marveled at the effort this was taking. It had looked easier, but he was going to be short of breath by the time he reached the shore and he looked a little goofy but he was managing.

The sudden luching of the ship took Kokonoi by surprise, but his pride demanded that he hide that fact. "I'm okay with groups. I promise I'll play nice. I'd rather check into the shrine, though. Might as well make use of my skills, ya know?" he chimed, completely sure of himself.
When the boat finally arrived at the island and came to a less than gentle stop, he was more prepared. While he couldn't completely stop the slightly stumble from the sudden shift in momentum, he could at least make himself look less like a fool. That was until it was said that he might have to swim.
Koko looked over the side of the boat at the distance he was expected to swim. It wasn't far, he could surely manage if he wanted to, but the thing was, he didn't want to. The thought of his pelt soaked through with water and sticking to his skin made his fluffy ears pin back with distaste. "Er, I'd prefer to go with Tadashi too, if no one is opposed?"

Amia heard as Sea Shine introduced themselves and she gave a smile in reply. It seemed everyone was on board for helping with this, at least no one decided to leave, as had been offered. It seemed Shine even had an idea of a few of them going into the Shrine in disguise, then whoever was stealthiest going in even quieter when the time came. It wasn't a bad idea, but they definitely would need to have back up, in case something went south. They could not take any chances, not if they could help it. Then Tadashi said he would pick them up in the morning, giving them about a day to check the temple area and see what they would learn. Then he headed off to get their journey under way, so she looked back to the others.
"I think I can help with the disguise and looking around. I like doing so, to learn more about others,"she admitted. As the ship got under way, she had to brace herself as the ship began moving. She waited with the others as they traveled, listening to anything the others might say about things. She wondered what they would learn, if anything at all. She hoped they would all be alright and learn what they needed to know. Her mind was on all that might happen and might be at the Temple.
Soon, they had arrived and Tadashi warned them the wind had been in their favor and it might be a sudden stop. Even with the warning, she skidded a bit as the ship lurched to a halt. She then heard that most of them would need to swim and two had wanted to take the dinghy with Tadashi.
"No, I am alright swimming,"she assured, seeing the two join him. She didn't mind swimming, so she got to the deck of the ship and climbed on top of the railing. to head into the water.

Getsumei listened to the ideas the others had about how to gather information. He knew he was pretty stealthy but he was also good at illusion magic. He could easily take on the form of a human and pretend to be interested in the True God. He nodded to himself. "Alright I can go with the group pretending to be human then." He readied to hop off the boat and go to shore once they arrived. "I don't mind the swim over either," he said with a smile, allowing the others to use the dingy.

Lorelai readily accepted help from Tadashi in getting down into the dinghy, "Thank you! It's a pleasure to meet you too." She spoke softly, barely audible over the waves lapping against the boats. Without hesitation, she took up the position that Tadashi had suggested. Once there, she turned and looked back up to the boat to see who else might join them.
"Pleased to meet you Mezcla, and thank you for.. " she was cut off as he dove into the water, "Ah! For.. um, volunteering in my stead." Lorelai watched him paddle towards shore wide-eyed but with no shortage of admiration. "Goodness, I could never," she whispered under her breath.
Shortly after, another makitsu voiced wanting to join on the dinghy, Kokonoi. He looked a little ferocious by Lorelai's estimation. Maybe it was the protruding teeth. As he approached, she pulled all her paws together and her tails around her front. "O-oh, yes, of course, please join us. You're um," she tilted her head thoughtfully, "I don't think you mentioned your name?"
Tadashi watched as some Makitsu jumped into the water and swam for shore. "Ah they pleasure is all mine Lorelai." He replied to her. It wasn't long before another asked to join him on the dinghy. "Come on down. You've got the last spot." He waited for Kokonoi to come down and get settled before taking up the oars. He began to paddle taking them over to the shore. Once the little dinghy hit the ground he jumped out to pull it up on the shore so it didn't float away.
Once everyone was on shore Tadashi moved over to a ring of rocks. "This is one of the spots I normally find masks at." It was up further on the beach where the water wouldn't touch it, "I also find them up by the path that leads into the island and to the Shrine. There's a little rock alter there that they would show up on." He began to walk towards a spot where a dirt path between a tree line could be seen. Just at the edge of the tree line and the sand from the beach was little rock alter that was currently empty. It is here that you can see some odd prints going up towards the path. You assume it's a foot print but it's definitely not a human foot.
"Now I will say this.... stay on the path when you go to head to the Shrine. It'll lead up to another one, dead ends into so you have to go left or right. Don't go left. You'll see a couple of trees with Shimenawa around them and a rope between the two. That's the very last boundary before the Island will claim you. The same thing will happen in the trees here. You'll see a few with Shimenawa around them here too. Means the forest isn't safe and anyone who ventures off the path will be lost and never seen from again." He explain, "So you want to go to the right. You'll pass under a Torii and then you'll be on the outskirts of the Shrine. The Shrine is huge with lots of buildings that you probably can't get into during the day. There's also gardens, places to relax and rest, food stalls, and of course the main hall where people can offer their prayers. It's real touristy these days from what I hear. Anyways good luck and I'll see you all here tomorrow."

((Now for the out of character stuff and quotes. Searching is only done in the Shrine as that is the only place Tadashi can't search himself and would be where you could find items or information. The Shrine is huge with the main hall building being towards the middle back of the area set by the boundary (think of the boundary space as a giant rectangle), and other than that and the basics in Tadashi's post above there is no set look/setup for it. If people want a basic map just let me know either in the main thread, the discord, or in your reply post.
You can find these rules on page 1, fourth post but here they are too.
Daytime Search Rules and Results
You may roll once per day unless you land on a trinket win, then you may roll again. You are rolling 1d100 die. Please do not use the random number generator but the dice one. You still need to do some sort of rp reply, doesn't have to be very long, a couple of sentences, but don't just roll and make no reply. If you land on a non trinket win, wait until Blue responds with what you found as it is either a special trinket or piece of information. Blue will be responding at least once a day in the evening but will try to do multiple responses in a day if possible. Special trinket win numbers are listed and require you to quote Blue to make sure she sees that you won a special trinket so she can figure out which one you found. As a note there are currently a limited amount of special trinket wins but more may be added to the prize pool. Daytime searching should last at least a week but more time will be given if people need/want more time to find things and rp. Reminder that your character should be either hiding and stealthily snooping about, unable to enter any buildings at this time, or in an illusion (human, animal, inanimate object, etc). If you win an Ofuda please keep track of it in your rp posts going forward (you may have multiple) as they may come in handy.
Results
1: You find a special trinket! Quote Bluedemonwolf to see what it is. 2-10: You smell something delicious and discover that there's a priest selling some food from some nearby food stalls. Take 1 food trinket 11-20: You get a weird feeling. Wait for Blue to reply on what's going on. 21-30: You listen in on some people. Wait for Blue to reply on what you hear. 31-40: You find a priestess selling good luck charms over to the side up near the main hall. Take an Element Good Luck Charm. 41-49: You get bored and decide to take a break for a while 50: You find a special trinket! Quote Bluedemonwolf to see what it is. 51-60: You listen in on some people. Wait for Blue to reply on what you hear. 61-70: You hear something loud nearby. Wait for Blue to reply on what it is. 71-80: A priestess offers you an ofuda saying it's a protective charm. Best hold onto it for now. Take an Ofuda 81-90: It feels like you've been here forever and decide that now is a good time to take a break. 91-99: You get a weird feeling. Wait for Blue to reply on what's going on. 100: You find a special trinket! Quote Bluedemonwolf to see what it is.

When no one complained, Kokonoi took that as his go ahead to take the last spot in the dinghy. He climbed down and made himself as comfortable as he could in the small space. He turned his confident grin toward Lorelai when she spoke. "Oh, no, I guess I never did, huh? I'm Kokonoi. Nice to officially meet ya."
The ride to shore was short and uneventful, for which Koko was grateful. Once they landed, he was quick to depart from the vessel and make for solid ground. He waited for Tadashi to take care of the boat before he followed him over to the ring of rocks. He listened intently to the human's explanations, ensuring he memorized the instructions they were given. Don't go left. Easy enough.
"Alright, see ya tomorrow! I'm heading off!" Koko offered a quick farewell to Tadashi and headed up the path. Although he had initially agreed to go with a group, that wouldn't stop him from taking the lead. After all, they wouldn't accomplish anything by standing around on the beach.
Chloe jumped off the boat and started sniffing around, she was hiding and slowly looking around. she got a feeling there was something below so she dug.
The sand ground against the inflatable vessel as they landed. Lorelai managed a brief farewell to Kokonoi before he was off toward the shrine. Was this a race? She swished her ears back and forth thoughtfully, recalling everything Tadashi had explained. No left, and there were markers on the trail. Left was a place where one would be claimed by the island. I wonder if the masks were claimed...
Lorelai sighed as she realized that it would be best to be disguised to wander among the shrine and the tourists. She summoned up all the magic she could muster and pulled together the illusion of a human form in plain, traditional garb. She walked leisurely along the path, taking in the sights as a tourist might. Tadashi's directions were impeccable, and soon she found herself approaching the shrine.

Amie had swam to shore, it was a nice journey through the water and she knew her fur would dry. When she got there, she waited for the others, before following Tadashi over to the ring of rocks. She listened as he explained this was one of the areas he would find masks, then explained also near the path and on a rock altar. She followed as he led the way to a spot where they could see the dirt path between some trees and saw the altar that was mentioned at the edge of the line of trees. She noticed the weird prints that had to be footprints, but didn't seem to be human ones. She filed those prints into her mind for now, figuring they may be important later. Then came some instructions, which she paid close attention to, making sure she didn't miss any part of what was said. She gave a nod of understanding, before saying a farewell until tomorrow to Tadashi.
Once ready, she concentrated on a human form, before bringing up the illusion of it. As soon as she was done, she followed the others to the Shrine area, making sure to follow Tadashi's instructions to the letter. Once there, she made sure to look like someone interested in all she was seeing, while keeping an eye open for anything.

As Amia entered the Shrine's boundaries, a few priests and priestesses were moving about finishing up preparations for the opening. They didn't pay her any attention as they rushed about. A loud noise that sounded like a horn could be heard from the southern, middle portion. It sounds like the first ferry with pilgrims and tourists had just arrived meaning there would be more people to blend in with. A sharp pain on one of her paws would draw her attention down. There, a broke piece of porcelain was poking her paw. It was mostly white with some silver on it. Perhaps this was a clue for Tadashi to check out tomorrow, best hold onto it for now.
