Salem's head throbbed and ribs ached, breathing hard as he was pulled up into a seated position! The audience continued booing Rex, incited by his disrespectful behavior as he slammed a knee into the back of the Gypsy Savage's head and sent him back flat against the mat! "Rex adding insult to injury, attacking a man after he was jumped! This makes me sick!"
"Don't say that too loudly, J.R.! They might come over HERE!"

Rex, continuing to soak in the boos dropped to the mat and to continue his mocking of his opponent, would attempt to hook a leg and go for a pinfall, not truly caring whether he won at this moment or not.

Salem was stunned by the knee, but he still had some wherewithal about him! Rex covered lightly for a pin, but still enough to force the referee to count it out! Recovering his wits, Salem waited until after two before shouldering up, using the couple seconds to try collecting himself! "Salem kicks out at two! It's not over, folks! The Show's not over!"
"I thought Kobra had him there, J.R.! I'd have just played dead if I were him!"

Rex stood, pleased that he at least made Salem exert himself somewhat by kicking out. Not wanting to waste too much time, he would back up a few steps before charging and attempting to deliver a senton to the downed Salem.

The crowd fed into Rex's ego as they continued booing his smug demeanor, Salem still aching on his back as Rex got up to run the ropes! But their jeers turned to cheers as while Rex was in mid-air, The Copperhead coiled away, rolling at the last second towards the ropes to avoid the senton!

Rex arched his back and rolled onto his side as pain rocked through him, obviously having misjudged the amount of fight that was in his opponent.

Fans were clamoring now for Salem to recover, standing and hollering words of encouragement as "Showtime" gripped the bottom rope and started struggling to pull himself up in time to seize the moment! "Listen to these fans, King! They believe in Salem, and he's gonna fight to give them something to believe in!"
"I believe he better hurry up before that Kobra starts standing again, J.R.!"

Rex started to slowly get up as well, his back throbbing from pain of the missed maneuver. He had been on a roll but now he felt it starting to slip through his grasp again.

Salem knew he'd have to go big if he wanted to regain momentum, aware he needed to continue pressing the advantage for what little time he still had it! Getting to his feet against the ropes just as Rex recovered, he'd charge to try and level Kobra with a Clothesline!

Rex had just enough in him to duck just at the right moment as Salem attempted his clothesline so that Showtime would continue to run right by him.
JR: What a reversal, King.
King: I know. I'm almost surprised that Kobra was able to duck it at all.

Rex dodged the attempt, forcing Salem to hit the set of cables behind him! Rebounding from the other side now, "Showtime" tried a second time, looking to lariat Rex down!

Once more, Rex was ready. He stepped forward and ducked under Salem's arm again laughing as he started to turn around and face his opponent.
JR: Another reversal.
King: Salem is going to have to step it up if he wants to connect with the wary serpent.

Salem missed again, but as he continued running he was building speed and momentum, ricocheting off the ropes a third time towards Rex! As he approached with a full head of steam, "Showtime" would fake the Clothesline and instead hit his patented Bicycle Kick, dubbed "The Showstopper"!

Rex was ready for another clothesline and that was his problem as the kick connected and the big man was sent to the mat in a daze. Ramona started frantically slapping at the apron. If she could scream she would have been doing it as it looked like Rex was out for the count.
JR: You are saying, King?
King: That's what I was talking about

The crowd popped louder than they had all Match as Salem nailed Rex with his signature move! Almost collapsing atop Kobra, "The Copperhead" would hook a leg and try a cover, hoping it was enough!
