Kauff nodded at the cashier, quickly thanking her for bringing around her collection of wares as he handed over their money. "They are. I don't want to say I don't like it, but... I don't." He smiled, removing any real seriousness from his words. "I'm glad they're independent though. I guess we must have done something right."He led them outside again, strolling toward the selection of eating establishments nearby. "So, what do you feel like?"

Xariy grabbed the bag and settled it onto her shoulder, looking over at the food stalls Kauff had pointed out. She didn't have anything too exciting in mind but was just happy to be with him. There was a bread store she'd been curious about, but they couldn't just eat bread for lunch. "Well I'm up for anything. It all sounds really tasty, and honestly a little longer away for just the two of us would be fun don't you think?" Xariy smiled, reaching over and squeezing his arm. "Though I promise to behave myself."

"How about... that one?" Kauff suggested, pointing out a stall selling meat and vegetable wraps. He was in the mood for something savory, and it seemed like the option with the least mess. "This has been fun, so yeah, we shouldn't hurry back. And... you don't have to behave yourself," he said with a laugh.

"Is that an invitation to frisk you in a corner?" Xariy teased, pressing a kiss to his cheek and wandering over to the stall Kauff had pointed out. It smelled amazing and her stomach grumbled in response to the enticing food awaiting them. She quickly picked up the pace, making sure not to jostle any of their purchases as she eagerly made it to the stall. "Want to share or get a bunch of everything and just eat as we go? I'm sure I can handle a considerable amount of meat."

"It might be." He grinned and shook his head as he followed close behind. "A bunch of everything. I have to make sure you're telling the truth." Kauff looked at the selection of food in front of them. Sausage rolls, ribs, skewers, cheese wrapped in fried... something, the grilled legs of some bird he didn't recognize. He almost started picking things out before belatedly deciding that continuing the banter would be more fun. "No, wait. On second thought, I'm already well aware of what you can handle."

"Of course you are, dear," Xariy winked as she once more turned to the food. She had saved up for the trip out so she was pleased to be able to get anything her dear husband wanted. They didn't splurge on themselves often, most going to the kids after all. She took her time choosing things, throwing flirtatious comments around as the vendor gathered their food. "What's something you would like to do? Something we don't get to often. While we're out we may as well have a little fun to ourselves."

His immediate thoughts veered toward watching Xariy steal or finding a sparring ring for a fight, but the kids were still of an age that he didn't want to have to explain coming home all bruised for no reason. "We could... watch the poscutas run around at the tamer's cart?" He never suggested it when Linnea was around so that he could avoid being convinced to get a new pet.

"How tame of you. I was sure you would wish to get into more trouble without the kids around," Xariy grinned, wandering over to the poscuta cart. She wondered if they would end up with a new pet. Kauff wasn't exactly one to avoid a poscuta if he found it cute, like father like daughter. Maybe Linnea would end up with a whole army if they let her. "See one you like? If you want another one I won't say no." Xariy watched a particularly chunky poscuta waddle by, grinning at its obviously overstuffed form.

"Just a few more years and I'll throw tame out the window," he joked. Kauff watched the animals scamper—and waddle—about, smirking at their antics. "I think we have enough, for now. I'll leave it to Linnea to fill the house with pets."A few minutes later, he added, "I did think of sparring first, but unless you can figure out a way to fight me without leaving any marks, I don't think that'll be the best example."

"You know the kids are a bit older now, we could just explain it to them. They'll need to learn how to fight themselves eventually," Xariy reasoned, turning away from the poscuta stall to focus more on Kauff. "I don't think they would be so shocked by us working out some energy. Maybe stealing something from you like old times."Sometimes she did miss their more messy times, wandering around Tendaji causing havoc and taking things. But the stability was nice too.

He grew silent, giving her words some measured thought. It had been difficult for Kauff to deal with just about every stage of development the kids had gone through, and he could already tell this would be no different. It barely felt like any time had passed since they had been born, and now it was time for them to learn how to fight? Yeah, probably. He didn't want Linnea and Layn to get hurt, but that didn't mean they couldn't be eased into combat gradually. "So, let's say I agree... do you wanna spar?" He chuckled. "I mean, I don't like the idea of the kids getting banged up any more than they already do, but you're right. It's a good time to bring it up."

"Of course I want to spar. It's always an exciting thing to do with you, love. Though if you're scared you can always back down," Xariy teased, tugging him along. It would do them both well to brush up on their combat skills, especially if one of the kids did want to fight some day. Not that she particularly thought they would, but always better to be prepared. Smerdle Can't remember if this is good to wrap up or not lol
