Her father would be so aghast that she was going along with this, but at the same time…well she was already here. Zira tried the chocolates, her gaze widening as the truffle simply melted in her mouth. “It’s so delicious.” She managed after swallowing and cherishing a final bite of the delicacy. “Still, I think I’ll pass on sampling anything else for now.” Even if Ixia seemed comfortable with it, Zira wasn’t and she didn’t want to make trouble. “Should we go ahead and find an area to practice in? If I can borrow a spear or even a staff I can show you some of my fighting style.”

“If you say so.” Ixia shrugged, content enough with the few pieces of candy and popcorn that she had taken. Admittedly she knew that she shouldn’t get her hands on too many things, especially before opening night but it truly didn’t seem like a bad idea to sample a few pieces. She could always make it up to the others later. It wasn’t as if this was her first time taking a few snacks. Still, the reminder of the spear and fighting demonstration perked her right back up. How had she forgotten so easily? Her mothers did say she had a bad habit of getting distracted easily ... .Ixia made a face at the thought before nodding. “Alright, this way.” She led Zira past the other empty stalls until they came to a tent towards the edge of the enclosure, one that was set up right next to a caravan wagon since her mothers preferred traveling separately from the rest who shared wagons as they journeyed across all the different countries.

“This is your family’s wagon?” Zira asked, curiosity pushing her to move forward. She had always wondered about how performing troupes traveled and it was interesting to see the wagon simply sitting there, the covered thing bigger than the small wagon she had rode across the valley in when arriving at this village with her father. “Must be bumpy going across the country all the time in these things, no?” She could see the attachment and figured that the quhar grazing nearby probably pulled the wagons along whenever the troupe moved to a new location. And perhaps she was asking more questions because she wanted to procrastinate a bit more now that they were actually at the point where she was going to have to perform soon. Ixia was super nice and all…despite being a bit suspicious at times with her actions…but Zira didn’t know how she felt about performing with someone else’s belongings. Would she really not get in trouble?

“It’s not too bad, minus a few rough spots.” Ixia answered as she continued past the tent and went towards the wagon. “If you’re nervous there’s no need to worry. My mothers are out and about preppin’ for tonight.” She explained as she pushed through the heavy curtain that blocked out the room inside of the wagon itself. The interior was surprisingly cozy with a small table and chairs secured to the floor, some chests, a lot of blankets, pillows and such with even another curtain dividing the sleeping areas. Ixia actually had a hammock up front while her mothers shared a larger bed that was built into the back wall. “Plus, it’s not like we’re takin’ the weapons far.” She added as she continued forward towards the right side where there was additional storage. “You can show off your moves right in the front here so the weapons don’t leave our campsite.”

Well, she was making a good argument at least. Zira nodded as she listened to Ixia, her gaze skimming over everything in the wagon. It did seem cozy with all the pillows and blankets. It almost made her think that they opted to sleep in here more than the actual tent next to the wagon. There were some cabinets even built into the walls and the furniture all seemed bolted down which would make sense considering how much the wagon was constantly moving whenever they were in the middle of performances. Zira had heard stories about how performers kept moving about, so she did always wonder about their lives on the road and this was honestly interesting for her to see. “Alright, go ahead and grab me a spear. We made it this far so I may as well show you something. Would be a shame to eat those treats for free.” She teased lightly as she lingered near the doorway, waiting on Ixia to pick a weapon for her. “Something light will suffice.”

“Got it.” Ixia moved a tapestry from the wall. It was fairly obvious that there was a weapon rack tucked beneath but for some reason her mothers always felt better just keeping that hanging over the array of spears and hunting knives. The tapestry itself was a favorite one of her Elarian mother since it had a depiction of Elzira surrounded by blooms. Still, she traced a finger across several of the spears before deciding on one that looked fairly light and not as worn down as the rest. She knew that her ma preferred really sturdy and heavy spears, the Elaria was a bulky and hard to move fighter as a result of constant weight training so it only made sense. “This one should do it. Let’s go.” She held up the spear before turning and urging Zira back outside into the clearing that was around the wagon. Thankfully the rest were pretty spread out because of her mothers always wanting privacy and for once Ixia didn’t mind it.

Zira eagerly followed Ixia outside back into the clearing. It was not as if she minded being inside of the wagon, it truly was cozy after all, but she also didn’t want to be inside for whenever Ixia’s mothers returned. It would be too cramped and well even in the jungle she felt like she had more breathing room than inside of that space. It would also be a lot harder to escape in case of emergency….not that Zira wanted to think of running away. “Okay, whenever you’re ready.” She held out her hands, eager for the spear so that she could show off some fighting moves. Perhaps Zira wasn’t quite as good at relaxing as her family wanted. It felt so much better to have a weapon in hand than to simply laze about. Despite risking the wrath of Ixia’s mothers, Zira was more than eager to have a weapon in her hands again.

“Ready as you are.” Replied Ixia with a playful grin, her excitement growing because she noticed how Zira had brightened up at the sight of the weapon. Hopefully this wouldn’t turn into some sort of disaster but she was confident considering how innocent the other girl appeared. She hadn’t even wanted to take some snacks earlier, so why would she run away with a spear? And so Ixia handed it over, taking a step back to give Zira plenty of room to perform.

Her fingers closed around the wooden handle of the spear and Zira immediately felt more at ease. There truly was just something about holding onto a weapon, even if it wasn’t the particular one that she was familiar with, and she had no trouble taking up her normal stance after a quick couple of stretches to loosen her muscles. “Alright so let me show you a tornado kick and some other moves with this.” She began, her body easily slipping into the movements that she had missed since taking a week away from training. Zira moved with ease and experience, her motions fluid as water as she demonstrated several moves for Ixia. All she could do was focus on her breathing, the feeling of the breeze as it brushed across her skin and the familiar weight of the spear as she twisted and moved around it. She truly had missed having a weapon in hand after all.

Oh, wow! Ixia knew that her earlier movements had impressed Zira but the movements that Zira demonstrated were impressing her! Maybe she should really talk to her new friend about considering joining the troupe? A grin crossed Ixia’s lips at the thought as she settled in, cheering Zira on and asking questions in between attacks. Eventually they would have to put the spear back up before her mothers returned and in time for Zira to return to the village to prepare for the show, but for the moment Ixia was just enjoying life and watching the performance of the other Aishan hybrid who had caught her interest.
