“Fair enough.” Katori laughed softly before wincing at the pain the action brought her. “I…I think I can manage.” She nodded before slowly slipping down from the stool, reaching out to use the counter to keep balance as she stretched out her sore legs. Even if her back had taken the brunt of the damage from that fight the rest of her body was still fairly battered and bruised.

“Here, let me help you.” Talisia pocketed the cream and moved to support her daughter. “I haven’t seen you this wobbly since you were a toddler.” She teased quietly, trying to find some humor despite her concern. Still she pulled Katori closer, wary of her injuries, and had her lean against her as she guided her towards the stairs. “You really should have taken a guest room.” She stated with a frown as they approached the grand staircase that twisted away from the dining hall and up towards the second floor.

“My bed is far more comfortable.” Replied Katori quietly as she hobbled alongside her mother. “I spent my first couple of sick days in the first guestroom, you may as well call it a sickward, but I wanted the rest of my stay to be in my own room.” She acknowledged as they slowly but surely started to go up the stairs. Each step was pure agony but at least she could manage it unlike the past few days when she had been stuck in her actual room after her cousin had carried her upstairs.

“You’re stubborn.” Just like her parents. Talisia let out a soft sigh as she helped Katori up the final few stairs and down the hallway. Katori’s room was kept towards the end of the hall just before the master bedroom that Talisia shared with Eresin. Across from it was the room that Taaru was sharing with Nasrin while they worked on renovating that farmhouse and the rest were empty save for the one by the stairs that Zyphire had claimed for his stays. At one point the whole place had been full with her children, Kain and Rhonnan with their boys and Zyphire as well. Now it was hit or miss how busy and loud the place could be though there usually was at least someone else living there besides Talisia while the others traveled or went on with their lives. It was peaceful at times because of that but admittedly it did get a bit lonely considering how much she was accustomed to having so much family nearby.

“I know.” Katori replied as Talisia helped her into the room and onto the bed. Laying down was a relief, her whole body sagged into the plush bedding as she spread out her arms and laid face down so that her mother could tend to her back. “How bad is it?” Surely it was healing somewhat, right?

“It’s getting better.” Talisia acknowledged as she pulled up her daughter’s tunic and started to carefully tug away the bandages. “I just need you to never dive in front of an angry chiavi ever again.” She sight quietly as she looked at the long jagged scars, the edges still red despite healing and the mixture of cream and everything was just…well not the most pleasant to look at.

“I’ll try my hardest.” Katori promised quietly. “I would rather not be stuck in my room for a week like this ever again.” She hadn’t even been grounded in her entire childhood for such a long period of time! All of their punishments had always resulted in chores, not being stuck within a room. Unless of course she had to transcribe things for her father, but then again that was a completely different type of punishment on its own.

Talisia shook her head as she took off the final bandages. “Just stay still. I need to grab some water to rinse away this mess.” She stated after studying the wounds for a moment longer. Walking down the hallway into the washroom she grabbed a bowl of warm water so that she could carefully dab at Katori’s back. A little bit of soap to help disinfect the wound some more and her fingers carefully slide over the stitches to make certain everything was in place. “Nasrin should be able to remove the stitches for you tomorrow.” Talisia promised as she finished up cleaning the skin there and started to apply the ointment with a careful hand.

“Gotcha.” Katori did her best to not whimper at the pain as her mother tended to her back. Despite her bold attitude about everything there was still a lot of healing that needed to happen before she could return to her previous self, if that was even possible. At least her ribs didn’t ache as much anymore and her arm had its full range of movement back minus the pain in her back stopping her from doing too much with it. She would heal just as she was certain Finn was healing as well from the attack. Katori was just thankful that her family had been able to help them. There was no other place that she would rather be in the moment, especially as she relaxed against those familiar pillows and allowed her mother to finish applying ointment and begin wrapping new bandages across her back.

“Almost finished.” Talisia whispered even though she knew that Katori was slipping away. She’s exhausted again. A soft sigh left her lips as she finished with the bandages and tried to get her daughter to drink some medical brew to help her with sleep. Even if she hated taking medicine it was for the best, after all. Talisia waited until Katori was fully asleep before placing a light kiss on her daughter’s forehead and slowly turning to leave the room. Perhaps she would make some more stew tonight so that everyone could rest up and take it easy for the day, thankfully the sanctuary was peaceful for now and Talisia could spend as much time as necessary to help out her daughter and her strange, feral friend while they both recovered.
