“I did too,” Sonia agreed with a nod of her head as they made their way towards the long check-out lines. Each one was no less than seven cart lengths long but the employees here were known to be efficient and they all appeared to be moving impressively fast given that some people had carts that overflowed with enough good that she was sure their bill was in the upwards of eight-hundred dollars if not more.

“Thank you for coming with me, Jane. I hope the books you found earlier will help.” Today was a day of exploration and it felt like her friend had made leaps and bounds in trying new things and rediscovering, not necessarily who she was, but more so who she is now.

Soon enough they had reached the front of the line and after putting their food on the conveyer belt and paying, the two got in the next line to have their receipt checked at the door before heading back to the car again.

It had been a day full of errands but with Jane here it felt less like a chore as opposed to a good time in the company of a pleasant person. Hopefully, with time they’d become better friends. But for now, Sonia would do her best to keep an eye on Jane, to make sure that she was acclimating well to her living situation and that her needs are met as Reed had asked her to do.
