"It's better than hearing someone say none exist, right?" Replied Eudom with a shrug as he watched the foreigner's expression change. The Yaeli closed his current book and pushed it back towards the pile. "Sometimes you have to actually explore the area. There's plenty of forest near my home that could have potential leads." Far better than any markets. Eudom frowned after a moment, the realization of his words slowly sinking in. Not that he had meant to offer anything but it was better than leaving her feeling hopeless. Grump or not it didn't settle well with him but surely she could form some sort of plan, right? He could grab his books of interest and then finally head back home too which would he nice.

Vepkhia nodded her head. He had a point. A slim chance was better than none at all. Vepkhia couldn't help the spark of hope that flared in her chest as he mentioned the forest around his home. "You think? But is it far from town? I'm not exactly the most adept adventurer and roughing it in the forest probably isn't the best option for me." At least she was being honest right? Oh what had she been thinking, perhaps she was an idiot for not listening to Kresimir and just trying to continue the training regiment she'd had in place before traveling.

"You would probably need to find a place to stay. It's a few hours from this area but there's a small village nearby." Replied Eudom almost absent mindedly as he browsed through another book. The Yaeli focused on a picture of a particular drawing as he spoke. That plant was something he had seen before around his own place too. "The forest surrounds the western area by the village where my farm is." So it surely wasn't that bad of a walk from the village, even closer if she was near his farm.

A line appeared between her eyebrows as she thought about that. Mentally she started tallying up what she believed things would cost versus the amount of money she had left. Vepkhia pursed her lips, "I suppose I probably can do two days max before I'll have to leave if I want to ensure I have enough for the trip home." She tapped her lips with her fingers. "Would that be okay with you? Do you think you could try and help show me around the forest area so I can maybe make the most of my time?" She asked hopefully.

"Do I look like an inn?" Eudom replied bluntly before pausing. There wasn't really an inn at the village, just a small tavern with maybe a storage room or something and anyone would definitely overcharge a foreigner just for using a spare room. And now that he had brought up the forest it felt like her blood would be on his hands which would definitely cause the goddess to curse him somehow. The last thing he needed was a curse, especially with the farm doing so well now that he had poured so many resources and time into it. A sigh left the Yaeli's lips before he finally nodded. "Sure, but instead of using your coin if you're willing to help work around my farm then I could spare a room for you." It would save her money and give him more time to roam the forest if she was actually useful with chores at the farm.

"No! No no! That's..." Panic was written on her face. "That's not what I meant..." Her volume decreased as she continued until she trailed off, unsure how to explain herself but he continued. Her voice was quiet as she spoke again. "I just meant I can afford a couple of nights at the nearby village. But I will willingly help you at your farm in payment for your time showing me around the forest." Her fingers idly flipped pages of the open book in front of her in her nerves. Vepkhia hadn't wanted to offed Eudom but she felt like she had and she really wasn't sure how to proceed.

The foreigner was definitely talented at making him feel guilty. Eudom suppressed a sigh before shaking his head and standing. "If you're already going to be helping at the farm then it makes sense for you to stay there and save your coin. Don't worry there's plenty of room and I'm not the type to bother anybody." If anything he was the one that got bothered by others! Still, he didn't have the heart to chase the girl off not when she already seemed so distressed. Gathering a few books, Eudom tucked them into his satchel before glancing back towards Vepkhia. "If you're wanting to tag along then I would suggest we head out now. I have to pay the owner for these books and get back before nightfall." It was already early afternoon and it would take several hours to get home even with his mount and wagon that he had brought along. Thankfully he had gotten all of the trading finished before coming to the bookstore, if anything it was almost fateful hat his timing had brought the Shifter into his path in the first place. Truly the spirits did enjoy messing with him, didn't they?

Vepkhia looked up at him hesitantly but it seemed like he had made up his mind. Giving him a small smile in thanks she said "If you're sure then thank yo very much." She quickly stood and gathered up her own notebook and returned it to it's place in her bag. "Just give me a moment to put these books back, I don't want to leave a mess when they've so kindly let me read them. I actually need to grab my small bag from the inn as well so if you would be okay with waiting maybe five more minutes I will meet you outside?" She asked, hoping she wasn't asking to much of the man.

Just five more minutes. Eudom suppressed a huff but nodded his agreement. "That's fine. If you're later than that I may start on ahead." He added with a frown before making certain to grab all of his belongings and going downstairs. It seemed today's trip to the market was not quite the simple experience he had been hoping for. Eudom just prayed that this would be the last surprise the gods gifted him this year.

Nodding quickly, Vepkhia scrambled out of her seat to make sure she put all the books away in the appropriate places. As she ran out the door she said a quick thank you to the store owners before running to her room at the inn. Since she had already paid her room fee she simply grabbed the bag of things that was always ready to go and made sure to tell the inn keep that she would not be back for some time and expressed her gratitude. By the time she made it back to the store front of book shop she was quite winded but also sure she had made it in time...right?
