[Lioe 16]
The pair was essentially a blur as Lioe watched, still backing away from the mess he had caused. Was it alone? Did witu travel in packs? His eyes darted around for any sign of another.. but how would he be able to tell until it was on him? And the other one kept lunging for him, held back only by Uzumati's brute strength. Lioe didn't have any of that. He didn't have any weapon either. All he had.. was the man's bellow echoing in his head among the growling.
Move!
What else could he do? He moved! The burning caught up with the rest of him, and his legs went into action.. running the opposite direction. Fear kept him from feeling anything beyond the need to run now that his legs were finally carrying him. Was he going toward town? Was he going toward home? As long as it was away from the witu! At the least, maybe him leaving would make the witu lose interest in fighting with the leafling man!

A sigh of relief left Uzumati's lips as he watched Lioe running towards safety. As much as the teen could have considered being heroic by charging back into the fight the warrior was more thankful that Lioe had opted to move away instead of complicating matters. And now he didn't have to worry about Padma's kin being murdered behind his back which was another plus. Since Lioe was safely out of sight and hopefully still moving, Uzumati decided to be more reckless as he fought with the witu. A few more risky moves, some more growling and clashing of man versus beast and then finally the pair separated for what Uzumati hoped was good. The witu's coat was covered with blood, a mix of its own and Uzumati's, and its sides were heaving as it panted with exhaustion. A low whine left its throat as Uzumati blocked its path once more, his own body covered with fresh scratches, blood and dirt from their rough tumble along the lakeshore.
Still, Uzumati stood tall as he squared off against the witu once more. He was ready to continue if the creature was but thankfully it was young and recognized that the man before him was not willing to give up easily. This was Uzumati's territory in a sense and he was going to make certain the witu knew it. Or rather was Lioe.....eh. Uzumati shook his head. He would not be going about claiming Padma's family as his own. He would defend them certainly but he was not close to any of them....he just didn't want Padma to be upset. A sigh left his lips as he watched the witu finally turn tail and head off in the opposite direction. It still wouldn't settle well with him to simply leave without making certain Lioe had gotten safely away without attracting other dangers and so Uzumati turned on his heel and started in the direction of the teen, his hands working to tear his tunic so that he could better wrap the fresh wounds along his arms and upper back.

He wasn't quite sure how far he had run, but Lioe's legs eventually gave out and he collapsed against a tree. Panting heavily, he grit his teeth against the pain emanating from the gouges on his back and the scrapes on his hand. He should keep going, but he was so tired. The scare at the lake had been more than enough excitement for the young man's usually underwhelming lifestyle. With this on top of it, his whole body was exhausted. He curled up against the tree, and wiped his arm over his eyes.
Was Uzumati okay? The guy was special to Padma... He should try to find his way back to find the man, but he was so tired, too. If he just closed his eyes for a minute, he could go look~

Ah. Uzumati let out a breath as he finally caught up to Lioe. The man had been worried at first as he walked circles through the trees trying to spot the teen, but now that he saw that Lioe was alright the worry started to fade. It seemed quiet enough and another survey of the area made him relax more. Uzumati let out a sigh as he plopped on the ground next to Lioe and patted the teen's arm, almost a reassuring gesture in a way. Thankfully he had chased the witu away for now and he doubted the creature would try anything again soon....at least that was his hope.
Now it was more a matter of just catching his breath and making certain Lioe was ok.

Lioe 18
The approaching footsteps made Lioe's heart skip a beat. Was it the witu? Had Uzumati-? He tried to curl up tighter, too tired to try running again. He flinched away from the touch against his arm. Instead of fangs though.. it was merely a rough hand. His eyes peeled open with effort, and he let out a sigh of relief. The man's shirt was torn into makeshift, bloody bandages. Uzumati was injured. "I'm sorry," he murmured out almost immediately. There would be no excuses he could give, and he was too worn down to give much of a straight thought anyway. "Can we.. go now..?"

"You're fine." Replied Uzumati though his gaze was gentle as he slowly nodded and stood. A slight wince was the only acknowledgment he gave to his wounds before glancing over Lioe again. Would the teen be okay to walk back towards town? Was that even where they needed to go? He pursed his lips thoughtfully before gesturing around them. Which way did they go from here? He was ready to let Lioe guide them back towards wherever he was staying...which once again made Uzumati even more confused. Why wasn't he across the ocean and in that other country?

Lioe 19
His eyes followed the big man's movements, but his body couldn't follow. "I.. don't know," he murmured. Even if he hadn't been experiencing the fog of blood loss and adrenaline, the running had gotten him completely turned around. He was no forest dweller. "You know where, um, the doctor?" He pressed his lips and gestured at Uzumati. "You're.. hurt. My back.. hurts, too." He shifted to try getting up, but had as much success as he had earlier. "We need someone."

Uzumati's lips pressed into a tight line before he nodded once more. He knew a doctor and there was always Padma...but he didn't want to worry her either. So they would have to go to town. Uzumati braced himself before moving so that he could pick up the teen bridal style, positioning himself the best that he could to not hurt Lioe more.
"Stay still." He instructed in his typical gruff manner before starting to move forward towards the direction of town.

Lioe 20
His only response was a tired sigh. He couldn't move even if he'd tried, much less be upset about being carried. Instead, Lioe let his head rest against his again-savior's chest. "Don't tell them," he managed to say, foggy thoughts worried about worrying his family. He hoped Uzumati understood. Once that was done, he stopped trying and let his mind wander into whatever dizzy daydreams it felt like.

"Mmm. Uzumati just gave another nod as he focused on getting both of them to the town so that they could be patched up. Thankfully for Lioe, Uzumati wasn't one to really go on huge talking sprees. All he wanted to do was safely get the teen to town and go home to his own forest. It had been more than enough excitement for one day after all.
