Pyper was actually doing relatively well, ignoring the nearby food for what seemed like quite a bit of time. Though now she could no longer resist, as her tummy rumbled a second time. She let out a small cough, “Ahem, sorry about that,” she said, apologizing for the noise.
“I do hope these are for everyone to share,” she quickly added, picking up one of the small taiyaki in her mouth. She bit down, and grinned. “Mmmm delicious.” It didn’t take her long to make a swift snack of it. Once it was gone she licked her lips, and nodded in thanks to Itsuki. “You’re a lifesaver by the way.~” she purred. “I was staaarving. I’ll be sure to find a way to repay you.~”
She paused, realizing she was getting entirely off topic. She shook her head as if to clear her thoughts and turned back to WG. Right away, she made a mental note of how he had described the way to properly assess whether or not a person was meant for awakening. Ok, talk to them when there’s no one else around. That shouldn’t be too hard. And having a certain sense? A feeling about them? She muffled a laugh as WG pretty much compared it to indigestion. “Heehee…” she nodded at their leader, showing she understood what he meant though.
“That’s all fine and dandy, buuut….” As the others conversed, Pyper began to get worrisome, and she frowned a bit. She decided to question WG further on the topic. “WG..err Ra, I assume there is a reason you're bringing us all together now. Since we’re reviewing, and with the talk of managing more senshi… does that mean… something is about to happen?” She was basically reiterating what others had said, but she wanted to be sure. Because it definitely sounded like something was up.

At some point during all of the talking--it was hard to say when, but at some point between the introductions and the meeting well and truly starting, Broderick managed to find a comfortable spot half tucked behind a box, where he could see and listen to the meeting but also wiggle in and get comfortable rather than have to sit at attention and stress out about eyes potentially being on him, or being called on and potentially saying the wrong thing, which would make him look like a pretty poor candidate to awaken or look after any senshi, or--well, suffice it to say he liked the spot he had found very much indeed.
In fact, once he got settled into it, he found that it was really quite comfortable. So comfortable that it was growing hard to keep his eyes open. The voices of the others rose and fell around him, questions being asked and answered in a range of different tones and levels of interest. He really ought to be paying better attention, but he really was quiet comfortable in this spot, and if he curled his tail over his nose just right, he could almost pretend he was burying his face into a soft, comfy pillow...
It was shortly after that realization that he started snoring. Fortunately (or unfortunately, given how many Mauvians were gathered here and thus able to hear one of their own snoozing during an important meeting), the noise was enough to wake him back up, and Broderick popped back to his feet with a speed that belied his bulk, blinking dazedly and trying to look more alert than he actually felt. "I'm--I'm awake!" Oh no. Oh no, this was much worse than saying something dumb. Had he missed something important? "I'm awake, I swear, what were we talking about?"
"Ra-san, then! Ra-san, I'll make you and obaa-san proud! I pro--"
Sing's paw smushed his face and shoulders, eliciting a giggle from Itsuki. He dutifully followed behind her but tried his level best to keep out of the way while she was addressing the fluffy tuxedo. Sing knew more about the world than he did. Sing was wise and worth listening to!
"Obaa-san, Shureilia-san might not have a nice bath like you do!"
Posted: Sat Oct 16, 2021 9:20 pm
The sympathy of Sing made Shurelia's ears go flat, and she let out a small, pitiful, noise. Of course as she tried to pull her head back without moving her body, her eyes crossing as she leaned. "I know," she agreed, "But it feels so vile and nasty, I can't help it."
The Outside was disgusting, and tragic, and Shurelia had no desire to be out in it- even less desire now that she was a proper Mauvian, and knew better. But she was still a creature with pride, and standards of cleanliness, and her fur was NOT to be so... bedraggled, and filthy; she was Shurelia Chamberlyn, not some common little street beast.
Her nose was wet and there were little tears in the corners of her eyes. Her paw was taken gently from her mouth.
"My bath tub is fine!" she cried to Itsuki, in despair. "It's just NOT HERE! And I'm DIRTY!"
Did it answer her question? In a sense, Arianna wanted to disagree. Comparing the important notion of a Senshi ready to be awoken to indigestion seemed a bit farfetched but she guessed that the truth of it was until you felt that sensation yourself, how did you put it into words? Thinking back to the humans she had been around, honestly she couldn't say if she had ever considered the odd feelings as important or just an annoyance.
Making a note to experiment a bit more with this, she looked to Ra to answer only to find her thoughts broken by the events behind her. With a roll of her eyes, Arianna cast one of her 'annoyed' glances towards Etta before looking back to Sing and Shurelia.
She wanted to focus on Cuan and Sumi and Pyper as they asked important questions that the answers could really shed some light on some things. Even the young and energic Itsuki seemed very aware that this was important. This was why they were here not some...
But the cry of despair from Shurelia ended her composure.
"Then GO HOME." The solid white Mauvian felt every ounce of fur on her body stand on end as she heard the cat whine. Rising to her feet, she turned around to look at tuxedo. "If you are more worried about being dirty than fulfulling your duty as a Mauvian...as a Guardian...then why are you here?"
For a second she watched the tuxedo and then looked around at the other Mauvians. "We are more than cats. The word Guardian means protector, defender, keeper. We are responsible for the safety and well-being of our senshi. And if you aren't willing and ready to give your all for that no matter what it means happens to you, then maybe you should consider going back to pretending to be a normal house cat."

There were questions coming as some of the 'newer' Mauvian piped up while others seemed to continue quietly observing. Cuan asking about assignments and Pyper asking whether or not the rising number of senshi over the years meant that something was about to happen -- she asked in fewer words, of course, but that was what they were getting to, right? A storm was brewing.
More than one storm, it seemed...
Somehow, in focusing his attention on those who were actually attentive he had overlooked the trouble that was brewing amongst those who were easily distracted. Somehow it had gotten to the point where the only other solid white Mau amongst them had seemingly seen enough red that she'd felt the need to take the 'podium' instead. Not that there was a podium. "Stars and stones, I should have brought a Power Point," he muttered to himself, expelling a deep, weary sigh before intervening before it could continue on any further.
"Enough!"
He waited until he felt twelve sets of eyes on him and when he had the last Mau's attention he soaked up the silence and took one moment more.
"Arianna is right. We are more than cats." His voice started out strong, stern, commanding the attention of those around him with the authority of the one who had been chosen to carry the mantle that came with the title of 'Watchful Guardian'. "We are Mauvian. We are above average. We are, each and every one of us, unique. What we bring to the table in our individuality is something more than anyone else can say... But for right now I need all of you to stop thinking about what has been left behind in your home to come out here tonight. Think of a world without comfort. Consider a world without television, without your favorite cushion. Imagine a place consumed by that feeling you get when you realize that someone has eaten the very last crunchy treat without replacing the empty container."
He took the opportunity for theatrics now that he had it, sitting up on his haunches and holding a paw to his chest as his eyes wandered once more towards the sky. "Is that the kind of world that any of you want to live in?" Without waiting for anyone to answer he dropped back down onto all fours again, blue eyes bright with determination. "I certainly don't, and that is why I have called you here, why we have all been drawn here. I am trying to make sure that you can work together. The forces we're going to be going up against are organized and by all of my calculations no matter how many Sailor Soldiers we have they win if we can't keep our collective wits about us long enough to endure a single in person meeting."
Then, idly, after taking one more brief moment to pause he tipped is head in Broderick's direction with a vaguely amused look. "Did you catch all of that, mate?"
Etta's mouth formed a thin line, brow creasing in mild concern as she caught the glance from Arianna. What followed went almost entirely the way she had anticipated it would -- something like watching a fireworks display towards the end where the loud ones went off in rapid succession and then there was a solid bang to signal the end. She blinked slowly, sighing as WG attempted to motivate them through what was quite possibly one of the most depressing pep talks she'd ever been privy too... And considering she spent a fair amount of time hovering around highschools and sports teams in hopes of locating new Sailor Soldiers, that probably said something.
"I believe that covers the 'State of Affairs' section of tonight's meeting, WG. Forcast is cloudy with a spot of doom? I know it's October, but do we really have to go on about the horror? Why don't we get back to the costumes and disguises, hm?" Her whiskers twitched, that bit of sly amusement returning to her eyes as she glanced around, spotting a few more faces she hadn't taken note of initially as she'd been drawn into conversation. The loud ones were always easier to get to know. The quiet ones, however...
There was another largely round cat (Hadaya) that hadn't made a peep even as he'd arrived. His golden brown eyes at least seemed to be open, from what she could tell, so he at least hadn't fallen asleep. Another one, a bright-eyed grey kitten (Etoile), that had also kept to herself... Well no wonder, with as loud as everyone else was. She expected they must have been relatively new and maybe it would have been nice for introductions just the same. She wandered just a bit closer to them, her own voice dropping low as if inviting the two to join her in a conspiracy. "A few of us are fairly certain that WG was once a barn cat, given his manners... My name is Etta, and the two of you would be?"

Sing froze for a moment, and this, before Watchful Guardian Ra chose to speak. There was a muted -something- in her strange eyes, that flew wide for a moment before she lifted her chin slightly, narrowed them again, and gave a -huff- a sound that carried with it heavy disapproval.
“There are choices we all make…” She intoned but continued no further, whatever else she might have said was lost as she slowly, deliberately removed her paws that had been helping her focus on Shurellia’s face.
She turned away with the same measured steps she had taken to approach, if a little more stiff-legged, and with her tail tip twitching like a metronome.
“Thank you, Ra.” She said with a bob of her head… “Arianna.” She added with another vague bob of her head towards the sound of the other white Mauvian’s voice.
She moved back to the base of where she’d been sitting before and chose this time to take up a seat near Sumi, bumping lightly against him with another huff rather than climbing up again, and wrapping her tail primly around her feet.
She turned back towards Etta, tipping her head as she listened, and then added.
“Well, we look like house cats, we’re just infinitely more… educated? Functional? Capable of utilizing our… thumb? I think that’s a marvelous ‘costume’ at least, it seems rather befitting the ‘spooky’ season.”
She looked amused, the flick of her tail tip less agitated now.
“I myself currently dwell with an actual cat… it’s, been a change since I…” She waved a paw and rolled a shoulder in a shrug.
“Back to the subject at hand though… someone over….there..” She waved in Pyper’s direction. “Asked if we were specifically expecting something to happen, is there something specific we should be aware of? or is it timing? And… “ She paused thinking… “I believe it would have been Cuan, asked if you’ll be assigning us Senshi. I believe most of those of us who have been awake ‘a little longer’ have run into a few already, but perhaps haven’t specifically pulled them to us in any official capacity.”
Etoile, largely, was following along with the meeting to the best of her ability, though her attention was starting to wander. While she, personally, hadn’t been the one to awaken Lepus as a senshi, the tiny Somali cat did like to think she had a grasp on how to awaken a senshi- why, she could probably do it in her sleep, even! Maybe. Possibly.
Well, at the very least, Etoile had the general concept of what to do memorized, and if any of Alise’s friends happened to be senshi in need of an awakening, she liked to think she was prepared! Especially if there was candy involved.
Oh, but it seemed that the conversation was getting derailed, and the Watchful Guardian was getting very angry at them now. Should she say something? Except then he was telling them to picture a world without… television??? How horrible! What would she do without her favorite shows? Etoile didn’t think she could go on with life without tv or candy, and oh, she probably should have listened to the rest, but she had started to tune that out again…
One of the other cats was addressing her, and Etoile tilted her head up to look up at them. “Oh, hello, salut!” the little cat chirped cheerfully, “My name is Etoile.”

Ra's bellowing voice silenced them all, including Arianna who did her best not to let the wince show when his word echoed in the alley. Any human who might have heard that would have thought someone was trying to skin a cat. Maybe they were?
Looking back at him, she met his eyes for a second before shooting Shurelia a single glance. He was right, that was enough.
Nodding once to both him and Sing, she turned and made her way back to her spot by Etta. Not a word was said when her butt plopped down but what more needed to be said? Ra was doing a great job with the theatrics and after this, she was sure Etta would either scold her or tease her about losing her cool.
Grey eyes followed as her friend went to greet two other cats, well, more like kittens but who was she to judge. After that display, she decided sitting back silently might be a better course of action. So wrapping her tail around her paws, she glanced up at the sky before looking at Ra.
Maybe he should have brought the power point.

Hadaya was listening, or mostly listening, to what was going on around him in wonder. He was not exactly shy, but he also knew that sometimes there was just more going on than he could hope to keep up with. He was a simple creature, mostly focused on food and cuddles, and with the world around him expanding so rapidly he was having a little trouble keeping up.
But just a little.
On the other side of things, he was excited. Moreso than he had ever been before. I finally felt like he had something he could do, something he could contribute to. Something he could be GOOD at.
He was filled with determination.
"My name is Hadaya!" he said, when Etta spoke to him directly and he could no longer exist in his daze of voices and confusion. He looked at Etoile, finding himself purring as she introduced herself, as well. It was not hard to make him feel comfortable, at least, and he was perfectly happy listening to everyone. He might have been fairly 'new' to all of this, but he was eager to show what he could do. No matter how complicated it sounded, and no matter how many new things he had to learn, he would do everything he could to make everyone assembled here right now, and in the future, proud of his efforts.
"He seems a bit on edge," he said, looking over at the 'Mauvian' that had just yelled at them all. He frowned, but not in disapproval. More likely, he was just worried. "Do you think he's hungry? I should have brought some more snacks..." They might have survived the trip, if he brought enough. maybe.

The white feline brought a paw up to rub at his face, regretting his outburst. There was more of a chance now that their meeting would be interrupted by someone who heard caterwauling in the alley and he still had information to cover. He was going to have to work a little harder to finish securing other accomodations, but in order to do that he needed to not be so needed out in the field. He needed the others, these Guardians gathered here with him, to be able to confidently do the job that they were meant to do.
Dropping his paw back down to the ground he nodded at the wisened siamese Mauvian, Sing. There were questions that had been asked... And maybe it would be best if he just used this time to answer those first.
"Etta is only partially correct. My tirade only covered a part of the State of Affairs. Answering Pyper's question should cover the rest." He moved from where he'd been seated, wandering closer to the other Mau so he wouldn't need to raise his voice quite so loudly to ensure that they all heard him. "Over the course of the past five years we have been tracking the movement of four agents of Chaos. All of the data that we have compiled says that they have been searching for something and whatever it is, whatever information they've found, has lead them here to Mayet. Normally we would have infiltrated their systems, tracked emails, looked for something that would give us a clue as to what they're after, how large of a force they've amassed, but they caught on rather quickly and they've shut us out entirely. All we know right now is that they're here and we have to be ready."
He turned slowly towards Cuan so he could address her question. "Which brings us to assignments and whether or not I will be assigning the existing senshi to the lot of you." He drew in a deep breath, releasing it slowly. "The short answer is yes -- if I have to, I will be handing out assignments. In some cases it might be easier. In others... Well, you know as well as I do that cats choose their people. I would like to bring everyone together so that we can make proper introductions -- introduce ourselves to the lot of them, introduce the lot of them to each other. If you think that you're confused imagine how they must feel. They thought they were just normal humans and that's far less interesting in the long run than being an average cat, if you ask me." A wry grin curved the corners of his mouth as he tried to slip a little humor in to lighten the tone, even if just a little.
"Some of you, after talking amongst each other, might realize that you work better together and instead of handling a team of Senshi on your own you might want to team up. I can make suggestions based on my observations, on who might best suit one another, but some personalities just don't mesh and that is a recipe for disaster." He shook his head once more, slowly glancing around again. "Let's skip ahead to the Q&A. Maybe we'll touch on some of the other things we have to review that way.... Who else has questions?"

[ OOC:
On the topic of assignments: As stated previously, for all that we are using the word 'assigned', By Moonlight will never force someone to take on a senshi or work with a player that they would not be comfortable playing with, but there are some expectations that players be flexible and willing to branch out if and when they can. It will be up to players to decide what might work best for them in the long run, although we will do our best to help facilitate connections for those who might be otherwise anxious about reaching out to one another.
In the first post of this RP we provided a list of how long each Guardian Cat has been awake. We have compiled a list of Senshi and how long they have been awake as well:

Prior to starting the RP for Sailor Soldiers we will be including this information in a post for everyone to see so that anyone who would like to plot backstories between their characters can do so. Backstory plotting CAN INCLUDE plotting between owners of Sailor Soldiers AND Mauvian so that if you'd like your cat could have awakened their senshi instead of WG while still keeping in mind the information that was posted in the approval of their application. Along those lines if any players have questions about how an awakening might have worked, what kind of communications there might have been as far as touch bases, etc, please feel free to ask!
We want all of you to be able to do as much plotting as you'd like to do because that is part of setting the grounds for a great story. heart ]

Sumi was tempted to untuck Sing's tail just so he could lay on it, almost 90% sure he could get away with it, but got distracted by everyone else talking around them. He was also a bit distracted by the idea that food might be involved since they were at the back of a restaurant. The Guardian wouldn't make them starve or anything and there had to be a reason they were back here.
Speaking of the Guardian. When the white cat asked for questions Sumi stuck his paw up again. "Oh! oh! Me! I've got a question ... questions." The small feline grinned until he had the Guardian's attention.
"Okay first are they really that good at hiding their trail? I thought you could keep track of everything? We don't even know where they are other than here?" Sumi did try to keep up with everything and the information that the Guardian had but sometimes it was a lot of words and he couldn't remember what all of them were. There had to be more than that though, right? "And second ... are there gonna be snacks?"

Pyper’s ears flattened, and she made a face of displeasure as WG raised his voice. Her tail flicked back and forth a little in irritation. But the feeling quickly went away as noise levels returned to normal. She gave a tiny sigh, but kept listening as her question was then answered.
Agents of Chaos?! This was definitely concerning. And how were they able to keep under the radar so well? “Hmm,” she pondered things a bit while watching the other discuss the topic.
What would life in Mayet be like without comfort and joy? A place where everyone could enjoy life, and not have to worry about being consumed by the feelings of sadness or hopelessness; like when the last treat in the container had been eaten, and there were no refills in sight. It was a depressing thought really. There had to be a way to make sure the treat container of life was full! And of course, insure the safety of everyone in Mayet. She nodded firmly to herself.
A Q&A? Did she have any other questions? Of course she did! Like what were the agents of Chaos even looking for? Though WG had already said he didn’t know. Maybe some sleuthing would be involved in the near future. But where would they even begin?
Oh! But she did have one important question, “Hey umm, a thought occurred to me. If they shut us out. That means they knew you were investigating them right? Then doesn’t that mean they might have come to the conclusion we followed them here? Which would mean they could come after us at any time!” She suddenly looked rather uneasy and glanced over her shoulder as if she were double checking to see that they weren’t being watched.

There were several things going through her mind as she listened to Ra continue to speak. The first was the completely expected: What were the agents searching for? Logic told her that if they knew that piece of information, they wouldn't be here. Which meant quite a bit of guesswork was going into this meeting and Ra's entire deminer. But something was sending the 'Watchful Guardian' in a sense of panic and that didn't sit well with her.
The second thing going through her mind was in part what the cat, Pyper she believed voiced. If they had locked him out, that meant they were on to the fact someone or something was trying to get in.
"They might not know who was trying to get in." Arianna offered, her own tell flicking as she spoke aloud. "There are ways to protect oneself when doing such actions and I'm sure Ra took those precautions." But her statement was as much a question as anything. "Because who would believe a cat was trying to access their system."
Her ears twitched a moment and then she looked back at the guardian.
"How much do you know that you are just waiting for the right time to tell us?"
