Sakura protects Sasuke and Naruto, but when the sound ninja attacked, she seemed outclassed. Luckily, Rock Lee was nearby and he used the primary lotus attack in order to try and stop the sound ninja to no avail. Now the sound ninja are attacking. Nearby, Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji are watching.

Knowing that it is up to her and that she has to quit being so weak, Sakura defended Sasuke and Naruto with all of her might, but sadly was no match for the sound ninja. Luckily Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji stepped in to help Sakura out. and, it looks like Sasuke is about to wake up.

Neji and Tenten show up just after Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji give their hands a try to beat the sound ninja and fail. But then, just as Neji was about to do something, Sasuke wakes up and he is not himself or so it seems. The curse mark has done something to Sasuke.
Sakura tells Sasuke who hurt her, more like the enemy admits who hurt her, and then Sasuke goes after Zaku who was the guilty party. Sasuke dislocates Zaku's shoulders and was going to kill the other guy who hurt Lee, but Sakura told Sasuke to stop. The guy who hurt Lee from the sound village surrenders his scroll to our heroes and leaves with his teammates.
Naruto, in the meantime is dreaming of Sakura with a big goofy grin on his face. Shikamaru and Choji want to wake him up by kicking him for a reality check.

Akamaru had been shaking for half a day and for good reason. He had Kiba's team watch a scene that was ghastly to see. And yet, the sand village ninja Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro made it to the tower first in 97 minutes.

Naruto wanted to look at the earth scroll he has even though its forbidden, but Kabuto stopped him just in time. He journeys with them towards the tower, but they get ambushed by rain ninja.

Naruto uses his shadow clones to trick the rain ninja and then beats the rain ninja until they are down. Then, Naruto searches them and finds the scroll that they needed. Thanks to Kabuto's help, our heroes made it through the second part of the chunin exams.

Iruka tells team 7 the meaning behind the heaven and earth scrolls as well that they had passed the second part of the exam. At the start of the third part of the exam, there was an explanation behind its meaning. And that these exams should not be taken lightly for they are a life and death type of test.

The prelims of the 3rd test are about to begin and this is so that they have a balanced number of students participating. The adults know about Sasuke's mark and although Sakura wants Sasuke to quit, Sasuke won't. First match was Sasuke against Yoroi. Yoroi works for Kabuto and Kabuto works for Orochimaru. It already doesn't look good for Sasuke because if he uses any special moves that curse mark will activate and the match will be stopped.

Sasuke beats Yoroi, but Kakashi insists on sealing the curse mark once the match ended. While in a private room, Orochimaru slithers in and makes some snide remark to Kakashi egging him into a fight.
The second round of the prelims to the 3rd part of the exam was Shino Aburame aka bug man vs Zaku aka Sonic wave dude.

Shino beats Zaku by using his bugs to plug up the sound wave holes that Zaku has on his hands. Ororchimaru leaves claiming to Kakashi that Sasuke will seek him out due to the fact that Sasuke is an avenger and that the seal that Kakashi made will not hold.
Kankuro the puppet master will face of against the second cronie who works under Kabuto.

Kankuro beats the cronie by having the puppet fight and then he finishes the cronie off. Next up was Sakura vs Ino. Sakura and Ino had been both friends and rivals ever since they were little girls. Ever since they both had a crush on Sasuke, their rivalry only got more and more intense. At first, during the tournament, the fighting was like child's play. Neither Sakura or Ino wanted to seriously fight one another, but then, they realized that if they really wanted to impress Sasuke and to show just how good they really are, they are going to have to get serious and so for round 2, the kid gloves are coming off.

Sakura and Ino knock each other out and they both lose, but what was interesting was that because Sakura has that inner voice and partially thanks to Naruto's loud-mouth cheering, that Sakura was able to regain control of her body when Ino took it over.
Next to fight is Tenten of Guy's team, and Temari from the village hidden in the sand, Tenten is a weapons summoner and Temari uses wind power. (Oh how I wish she would have pulled a Naruto and farted as part of her wind power, but she uses a hand fan as her source not her butt)

Naruto, Neji, and Tenten are sent on a mission to the land of birds where a ghost in the appearance of a white warrior has been attacking the lord that lives there. The ghost is said to be on a vengeance mission trying to kill the one who killed him.
