Lumikani smiled wistfully at the thought, "I was chasing a dream..." She replied slowly.
After a long moment of silence, she turned to Enya and continued, "There was a young mystic...someone I promised I would protect who decided to go with the Matron. Her decisions were her own, mine were to serve what I saw was the future of our tribe."
She sighed at that, "I didn't believe in everything the Extremists said, but I wanted to prove myself. I was young...and reckless."

Enya stretched her legs out in front of her and tapped her big toes against one another while she listened. Chasing a dream? It was such an idealistic thing to say for someone so...unromantic in her thoughts? Not that the older aishan couldn't have dreams, she certainly had to have them, but Enya wasn't used to hearing them spoken that way.
"I've heard bits and pieces about the Extremists..." Horrifying tales of violence and hate that made it hard for Enya to believe they were even part of the same tribe. "I've never seen a hybrid or an earthling before, but I have met Kahikians and I can't imagine hurting them just for existing. I'm glad things have changed."
Looking at Lumikani, really looking at her, brought Enya to reaching over and grasping her hand with a smile. "I'm glad you're not like that. Or...now I guess? I don't think I want to know the full details, but...I'm proud of you. Of where you are now because we can have moments like this."

"Me too, little one."
Lumikani often preached about her thoughts around hybrids. Having been a small Aishan, she always was passionate about how every bloom was valid and special, no matter it's source. She was just glad that many sisters finally began to accept it.
Lumikani laughed and patted Enya's head, "We all can change, but do not worry. I was never a true extremist. I simply was young, reckless, and wanted to charge into my own destiny...I left a lot of my family behind...family I haven't seen since that day."

"Have you thought about going back to see them? It's been so long that I'm sure they would be happy to see you no matter how you left." Enya couldn't imagine holding a grudge for that long so the thought of her grandmother's family not being happy to see her simply didn't exist.
She liked to see her laugh, to see her smile, and certainly liked it a lot more than the woman who had broken up the fight.

It wasn't that simple, but Lumikani didn't want to get too into it. This wasn't really about her, it was about Enya.
"It's been a long time. Lifetimes ago. Time makes things difficult. Which is why, Enya, you must be honest with your mother. Even if she 'loses it'. Pyrrha isn't unreasonable."
"Now do some stretches before we keep moving, and before you stiffen up like a tree."

Enya couldn't help curling her lip at the thought. Being honest with her mother was going to be hard and she just..didn't want to do it. Pyrrha was normally such a sweet woman - an enigma, one who even Enya didn't entirely understand- which made upsetting her all the harder. "I guess..." She couldn't outright tell her grandmother she wasn't going to do it.
Groaning, the teenager stood from her comfortable seat and bent down to work on some stretches. Naturally as soon as she did her body protested and she couldn't help hissing. "Can't I just swim it off instead?" Enya whined.

Lumikani knew that Enya would make her own decisions, and as always didn't push too much. There was no point. She learned as a young mother that pushing her children often resulted in more pulling on their end.
As she watched Enya stretch and groan, she shook her head.
"While swimming is nice, you need to stretch this way too. It helps you become more flexible, which will help you because more agile."

"One of the girls in my group can bend all the way back and touch the ground without ever moving her feet." If she tried something like that her back would break or she'd surely fall over. She was fairly flexible as it was just nowhere near that level.
"Are you going to be leaving again soon or are you here for a while? Because I was thinking that if you were going to be around maybe you'd like to go fishing sometime."

Well that was a bit much, but that girl probably would be able to do flips at some point...which are both helpful and a big distraction. Lumikani just rolled her eyes, and scoffed a playful "showoff".
"Hmm, I will most likely be here for awhile. With your aunt traveling I am going to take some of her tasks while she's gone."
The comment about fishing had her laugh a bit, "You are a much better fisherman than me, but I would be happy to join you and help you clean up your haul."

That was something Mama Pyrrha had talked about too; how things were going to be divided out now that her Aunt and Nayyara were gone. She was going to have to step up to take on some of her older cousins duties, split with her twin of course, but still Enya was ready for it. Despite what she'd shown earlier she wanted to let others know she could be counted on.
"Seriously? That would be great!" Enya threw her arms around Lumikani and gave her grandmother a hearty hug. "I can't wait to show you how good I've gotten with spear fishing!"

Lumikani let herself relax into the hug for a long moment, grateful for the moment with her granddaughter. She was proud of how Kanika and Pyrrha raised their girls, and adored them both immensely. She knew both of them would grow up to be the best sisters they could, because already they were growing.
Sure, Enya had a little scraps, but who didn't in their culture. It would take time, and hopefully Enya would learn to choose her battles. But for now, there was no point in forcing a lesson she'd need to learn on her own.
"I can't wait to see." She replied warmly, "Now let's get home, you still need to talk to your mothers about what happened today."
Even in her old age, Lumikani wasn't one who forgot. Actions had consequences, and Enya would learn that lesson today.
