So roughly two-thirds of the assembled group were budding artists, good, that made Mathias mildly bemused. He'd never really been the artsy type until he'd reached his teen years - but that had blossomed out of a deep well of spite. He hoped these kids would and could be able to enjoy their art out of joy - which is now where he found himself as a semi-professional artist.
"It's nice to meet all of you," He said, giving the young man a nod. "And that is a fun subject to draw Warren, I've done one or two action hero pieces myself - they can be very inspiring. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Mathias, and you can all thank Ms. Sita here for helping set up this very impromptu lesson..."
He took a moment to let that sink in before he said. "Granted, I'm no teacher," He said with a smirk. "There won't be any quizzes, no homework unless you want to keep drawing of course. I'm actually more interested in what you all can teach me."
He moved to an open spot at the table, being mindful of the space he took up, before picking up a pencil and a sheet of paper and then looking back around the room.
"I want everyone to think of something that makes them... Happy," He said gently. "It could be a memory, a favorite thing, a person, a place - anything. There are no wrong answers when it comes to these things."
He took a moment, and putting pencil to paper, he started to layout a sketch, just rough shapes in the moment, his hand moving with easy, but quick motions.
"Then take that happiness, that feeling of warmth in your chest - and let it flow through you and onto the paper," He said, looking up from his own, his hand still moving even though he wasn't looking at the page. "Even if it's just a tiny feeling - it's still good."
