Day XV A Night-time adventure
Aria was settled into her bed, her diary on her lap and a recently aquired laptop on the bedstand. She had been researching different herbs on the internet, because it was rather hard to experiment on something that was alive, especially because both she and her daughter couldn't bear to hurt an animal. A soft wind was blowing around the building and Aria had been trying to get Melody to settle down. Recently the young Second had been busy trying to attract a young boy's attention- the boy being one she did not like nor would accept as even a gentle friend of her daughter. Like most "parents" Aria did not like a boy who inserted himself into her daughter's life wearing symbols of death and destruction, having small black magical abilities and many other aspects of his attitude showing her that she should defend her daughter from his manipulation. However, Melody had not been listening to her mother for a while now, since Aria had neglected her for some time to take care of herself at home while she traveled to another world looking for an extremely rare herb that could only be found there and only in the most secluded areas. Melody had been left with plenty of food, water, and as an apology for not taking her daughter with her, a laptop and plenty of musical instruments that she had taken an interest in. There were music teachers who were supposed to help hone her musical abilities, although Aria suspected that Melody's musical talents were more than just notes to be played, but something.... something more. Melody was sulking from the argument that she and Momma had gotten into earlier. It was about that boy, who seemed so cool to her, but momma didn't understand. Her mind replayed the conversation from earlier.
4 hours earlier "I don't want you around that boy. He's bad news Mel!" Aria had pleaded with her daughter. Melody didn't want to listen. She only wanted to fight, her mom had left her alone for a while. She didn't care, she didn't love Melody, not one bit. Aria had left to get that rare herb which took quite some time, a month. During that time she had met Houdini, who enchanted her, came over, played music which enchanted her though it was hauntinbg and dark. "Mom, he was here when you weren't!" Melody had shouted at her mother. Aria had fallen silent, upsight with the accusation there. She had known that the world where that particular herb was located was extremely dangerous with many, many creatures that would love to feast on the soft flesh of either one of them. "Mel, I had to get it to heal that child in town. The one who would have died without it, having a rare disease. Please listen to me, baby..." Aria had backed down a bit, feeling the sting of a knife in her back, coming from her own daughter accusing her of something she did not mean. "So? You could have taken me with you!" Mel retorted. She felt betrayed, abandoned. "Mel, you know that you would have been in danger if you went with me! I'm home now and I'm your mother, listen to me. That boy is dangerous, he is not on the right side of whatever magic he practices." Aria tried to get through. And on and on it went, discussing the bad merits of Houdini, round and round screaming and finally ending in slammed doors. Melody was waiting on that very same subject to arrive outside her window. She'd be going out with him tonight, to go into the woods and just spend time together, and maybe even get her first kiss. It wasn't long before the black clad boy appeared at her window, knocking as soft as a bird fluttering into the tree. She moved toward the window and unlatched it, slipping out with a quiet smile for him. He smiled back, his eyes a deep blue while his hair was the color of black that can only come from a bottle. the headed into the woodlands that were always nearby. He reached over, his pale hand almost glowing in the moonlight, taking a hold of her hand. Together they walked away from the house. He whispered lies in her ear, telling her that it was obvious her mother didn't love her as much as she said she did and in general helping increase the rebellious feelings that were already growing. Aria, unfortunately was still asleep, even when her daughter returned in the middle of the night, a secret smile around her lips, her first kiss and with some signs that she felt a little older than she did before. She had not been hurt but only time would tell when Aria would find out and when she and the boy would come head to head over her daughter. He was full of lies, if only she knew the secret meetings at night had been going on for a while now.
