Pendour dropped her caulk right there on the floor.

Now that he was bigger, Pendour wrapped her arms around Soleiyu a little tighter. She was quick to nuzzle her forehead against his shoulder, and she stayed there for a while.

“Your tail is so nice,” she murmured, her voice soft as soft already and then slightly muffled by his clothes on top of that. Then she pulled away, at least enough to blink at him. “Sorry, if that’s a weird compliment or something?”

She knew there were some body parts that it was more socially acceptable to talk about, but she had no idea how that extended to Mauvians. At least Soleiyu wasn’t one to judge too much if she broke social rules.

“You give good hugs, I mean, and better compliments. I always feel better about things, after talking to you,” she said.

As she stepped back and picked up the caulk again, she smiled at him. “I wouldn’t change anything about you either, by the way.” Not that he needed the reassurance as much as her, but he deserved to hear it all the same.

"Oh!" said Pendour, brightening and looking over her shoulder as she finished up the last little section of caulk.

"I was thinking about that, actually. Not you looking human, I didn't know you could do that, but my next mission if I can get the water all fixed was to bring up some beanbags, or cushions, or something cozy for cuddling on."

Well, maybe just for sitting most of the time, since some people seemed to prefer a bit more personal space, or for sleepovers that wouldn't rely on dusty, millennia old mattresses. Still, Pendour couldn't help but hope that she'd get to use them for cuddling sometimes.

"You can come help with that, too. Um, testing, and everything." She gave him a soft smile as she turned all the way back. "Although that'll be a few weeks. I'll have to wait for this to set before I can turn that water on, and then troubleshoot from there."

Pendour blinked three times in a row, because that was a concept she’d never really considered.

“Oh,” she said. “Maybe I should get ready for the next project while I’m finishing this one up. We could start it, um, today, even. Go back again and look through some home goods websites. That way I could make sure you approve.”

She wasn’t actually in a rush to bring up any cushions. She wanted them, yes. She thought about them often. Still, she’d want to have her little setup in the knight’s chamber, and that meant redoing Irving’s space, and that was something she could easily slip into procrastinating on for months and months, years and years.

Right now she wasn’t thinking about what her ancestor would have to say, though. She was thinking about having her friend by her side for a little longer, maybe curled up next to her on the couch and pawing at her laptop.

“We could even do it now, unless there’s something else you want to do up here?” She nodded towards the stairwell that led up to the rest of the Wonder. “I think we’re done with the work for today. That magic really sped things up a lot.”

Pendour tucked her empty tube under her arm and held her own long fingers out in front of her, making a little show of looking them over. "Hmm. I might have just enough energy to make sure your fur's all nice," she said, smile widening.

It was funny, the way he called people needy and then went like this. Not that Pendour minded. She wanted to be there for him, even if he was maybe milking things a little.

"And get, or course. You're right, we can make a whole evening out of it. There's a new takeout place down the street with good reviews. Palestinian, or something? We can try that if you want."

She stepped forwards as she went on about possible plans, and she took his hand in hers, enjoying his presence in this way during those last few seconds before they'd be off back to Earth.
