She noticed that he held his hand out for her bowl and passed it to him. She could have dried it herself but she didn't want to argue with him over something so small. Instead she smiled at him. "The way you talk about them all shows how close you are. Its amazing. I barely know my adopted siblings. And I know nothing about my real one." Truthfully she was a little jealous.

"Well I am glad she decided that, it gave me a chance to meet you and saved me from being lost in the middle of nowhere." Alright, so nowhere might be a bit of a stretch. Hearing about the alkidike mom he had was interesting too and it made her happy to know her mother wasn't the only one that treated earthling kids as her own. To Masika his family sounded perfect. "That's impressive. To know you were raised with no difference. She must have really loved you." She'd been taught how to fight as well and was decent at defending herself if it was needed but her dainty frame didn't pack the same punch that and Alk did.

"Are you doing what you love now?" Masika was curious to know if he'd gotten to do what he wanted. It was important to follow ones dreams and wishes. Wants and desires were important to people.

"Alright so rescue is a strong word." The hybrid chuckled at herself. "I found her on the shore and she has no memory of her past. I couldn't leave her there so I took her in. I left her with my mother to go shopping for things while I went ahead to find lodging. I'm hoping to find her family."

It was a little strange to think about, considering how spaced out his family was now, but Eurig had to admit he'd been pretty fortunate growing up. He'd had three parents looking after him, three siblings, an Aunt who loved him and a grandfather who in his sternness had taught Eurig much. Things hadn't been easy all the time, but they certainly seemed a blessing when compared to what she'd gone through.

"I always wanted to ask her how it was raising a baby boy. I'm sure she'd seen a full grown earthling male before me, but it had to be a steep learning curve." Eurig had to laugh a little thinking about it. Still, if she'd had any hesitancy she'd never shown it, at least that he could remember. The fact that he was so much smaller than Subira may have been the thing to throw her off more than his gender.

"I...no, not really?" Eurig admitted awkwardly. "I'm still trying to figure that out. I just knew that I wanted to get away for a while." In all honesty Eurig didn't know what his dreams were he just knew he'd been suffocating at home. At a certain point he'd just needed a break.

Once the bowl was properly dried he sat back, keen on letting it sit there for a moment while they talked. "What are you planning to do if you can't find her family? If she can't remember them then it may take years for you to come across anyone who knows her."

Raising a boy. Masika hadn't thought about that. For an Alk to raise a full blood earthling boy might be strange to them since they are an all female race. The thought made her bring a hand to her mouth and hide her smile. "I can imagine it might have been a bit interesting." Certainly had to be an experience. The size difference alone might have enough enough to shock his Alkidike mother. She must have been very gentle with him as a baby.

"Oh." She nodded some. Many people she knew were still trying to figure out what they wanted to do. Masika had been fortunate enough to realize her love of sewing early on and her little talent with magic had given her a bit of an edge. The training she gotten from her mother also meant she had basic self defense. "There's nothing wrong with still figuring things out though. I met a few people that still don't know." Her head gave a nod to show she wasn't judging.

At the question of what she planned to do if she couldn't find the little girl's family she had to pause for a second and really consider it. "Well I can't just abandon her, that would be cruel." And while the child wasn't hers she didn't see anything wrong with taking care of her until things could be righted. Her own mother had taken care of children that weren't hers. "I suppose if she were okay with it then I would let her stay with me. I don't have a significant other that she would take time away from so I guess I am ideal for her needs at the moment." By now she was looking at the ground with a finger pressed to her chin in thought. Eurig had posed a question she hadn't even thought a possibility. The hybrid had just assumed she would find the girl's family and that would be that. "Its not like anyone has even shown the least bit of interest in me anyways so it wouldn't even be scaring someone away." Her cheeks flushed a little and she laughed it off before turning away to make it back to the log so that she could sit, suddenly interested in brushing some imaginary dirt off her dress.

The thought of being in charge of a child overnight was daunting. Of course he sympathized with her; there was just no way he could let the child go, especially as things stood. And yet...How confident would he be in taking care of one? Even as an older brother he had his mothers to fall back on for the twins primary care so while he had experience it wasn't enough for him to feel strong in raising a child.

She certainly had more gusto than he did.

"I wouldn't worry over it too much. You've got a kind heart, Masika; you won't stay single for long." His words may have been steady, but the healthy flush dotting his skin said otherwise. Talking like that was...well, it was just embarrassing even if it was true. He'd seen plenty of shrews with families so for Masika to even worry was laughable. In the span of neither looking at the other she'd managed to sneak away and by the time he looked back she was already closer to the log.

"I was thinking...even after I show you to the closest village travel might be dangerous for you, especially if you take another detour. If you'd like a body guard I could make sure you get to your mother safely."

Being told that she wouldn't stay single for long brought about a blush of her own. Masika couldn't help avoiding eye contact after that. It was embarrassing to hear that from someone else. "I don't know about that. In Oba no one showed any interest in me other than my dress making skills." Of course she stuck out like a sore thumb down there. She was blue and had antennae. Even if the Matorians shared her color she was still very different from them. And the Obans certainly had no interest in her.

She coughed then moved over to her beast companion. "I'll get that fabric now.." Before she forgot about it she figured it would be best to get it out. Then Eurig surprised her with saying that he would guard her until her mother was around. "Y-you would.." Now she had stopped and turned to look at him again, this time with a clear look of surprise to go along with the pretty blush. It would certainly make her feel better to know she wasn't in danger all the time. "If it wouldn't be too much trouble I would appreciate it. I don't think a detour would be in my best interest unless I have someone who can lead the way." An embarrassed laugh left her. "My body guard Eurig huh? How much would you like paid?" Surely he wasn't going to offer such services for free.

"Then you should go somewhere that isn't Oba," Eurig replied with an easy smile. "The worlds a big place, and everyday you're alive you can go somewhere new. So, it's bound to happen one day. Besides, Obans tend to be- No, I shouldn't say that, it's too rude." The leafling shook his head with a sardonic smirk. From what his mother told him Obans tended to be a very opionated, traditional sort that either really loved something or hated it without reason. After spending so much of her teenage years in the desert she'd come to the conclusion that Oba just wasn't the place for an outsider to be.

"You said yourself that you aren't much of a fighter. You've got your janarim, but what if something happens and...Well, it's just better to have extra protection." Sending her off just didn't settle well with him at all. It tugged at the pit in his stomach, the one that told him he'd be better off seeing this through.

The topic of pay brought him to a halt. It truly hadn't occurred to him that he should charge and for a moment his mouth drooped, brow furrowed in confusion before he closed his lips. "How about...you just make sure we're stocked on supplies when we see a vendor and we'll call it even."

She looked around at the scenery that surrounded them. "Well, I'm here.." Masika gave a small giggle at that. She doubted the wilderness was what he meant. As he mentioned something about Obans she gave a silent smile and looked down at her feet. "Tend to be stuck up?" She offered. Her dressmaking skills were good enough but she wasn't.

He had a point. She was no fighter. She didn't have the muscle or the endurance to do much. Masika wasn't even that fast at running. "Good points." She moved over to Edaj and dug around in the bags before she found the fabric she'd mentioned. As she pulled it out she made sure to close up the bags again. Mention of her being the one to make sure they were stocked up made her nod her head at him as she turned and unfolded the fabric to show how much there was. "I can do that. Anything specific you would like to eat?" Masika would make sure to get something he liked.

Giving the fabric a firm shake she walked back over to him with it. "Here we go."

Something about the act of carrying fabric on one's person instead of information on the area they were traveling through spoke volumes. She could have spent the coin she payed for that cloth on a decent guide. Eurig thought wryly. Wisely he chose not to say it out loud for fear of upsetting her, but it lingered in his mind all the same. She might have made it just fine out here, but then again Masika's many skills didn't translate well into life on the road. Don't short change her; she might do just fine.

And yet...

"What can I help you with?"

She looked at the fabric in her hands with a slightly worried looked. "I picked this up to make some clothes for Shui.." Masika hadn't gotten around to it yet because of getting lost. But it would serve another purpose. "If it gets ruined I can just find something else." The little girl had clothes already so she wouldn't be missing anything.

When she looked at Eurig again she smiled but it seemed sad, not quite reaching her eyes. "Sorry. I guess I shouldn't worry about fabric that much." She then pointed to his tent. "Should we hang this up before it gets too dark?" If they got it set up before then then they wouldn't have to try to fix things when they couldn't see.

"It's lovely and I'll be sure not to get anything on it that could stain." So long as they treated it as delicately as it looked then Eurig was sure she would be able to use it again. Picking himself up off the ground, Eurig brushed off his pants and set about getting the camp ready for sleep. Even though they likely wouldn't tuck in anytime soon she did have a point. The faster they could get everything set up the better off they would be.

"...I don't think it's a bad thing to worry about the fabric, especially since it's for someone else. It's a kind gesture, but I think she would much rather have you there instead of new clothes." At least, he hoped that's the way the child would see things. Honestly, with kids, it was hard to tell. Still, Eurig made his way to the tent and held open the flap so they could get to work.
