The request to meet this miracle worker who had convinced Takeda to undergo medical training--Takeda, who she swore was more stubborn than a cow--was loaded right on the tip of the young woman's glib tongue. However, as her scarlet eyes assessed the situation, she rolled back the words before they were ever released. If he desired to move on, then she would wait, for however long it would take.
"Well, it's probably because I wouldn't want to change~ Besides, who said you were the one who I was worried about?" in a voice more sing-song than her usual cadence, the green-haired kunoichi gave a few phrases of little consequence in acceptance of Takeda's choice to move the conversation forwards. She turned away from Takeda--though, a scrutinizing glance lingered for a beat too long--and her hand waved in a gesture to beckon Nao closer, a signal the end of whatever personal conversation there was because, apparently, medical training fell under sensitive personal information. "Curious how that is the case." "Nao, you can come over now," she called out to the young girl who had been so politely waiting on the side.
As soon as Nao joined, it was time for business. With a light-hearted smile and tone masking the formality of the details she spoke, Kagerou proceeded, "When you give us the signal, use the old number signals we used way back. Remember those? 1-5-5 if you need aid and 5-5-5 if we should immediately retreat. Nao and I will do the same if needed." Fingers flashed through the numbers as she mentioned them, which was, in this particular case, a lot of one-handed clapping due to the proliferation of 5's. "Other than that, I'm ready to proceed on your word."

Once everyone caught up on the number signals and other little bits of the plan, Takeda made the first move to approach the warehouse. There was no deception in his posture, no slack-jawed expression, or clueless demeanor. No, he had the presence of a man who had business in the direction of wherever he went. That's why when he was stopped by a man standing guard right outside the warehouse, Takeda wasn't surprised to see that the man needed a second to compose himself. Halting someone who didn't belong there and shooing them off was one thing, but it was a whole other matter to deal with someone as intense as the new visitor.
The guard was just half a head shorter than Takeda, with lilac eyes and two-toned hair colored brown and blonde. He wore a black hooded jacket with bright red lines and swirls spreading across the entire surface, along with a cloth mask that concealed the lower half of his face. "Hey, don't know who you are, but I can't le-"
He flinched and stopped speaking once Takeda lifted his arm, fully expecting things to turn sour. Once he saw that the man was only showing him something, however, he found himself dreading the circumstances even more.
"I take it you know what this means? I'm here to see Jed. He and I have something to talk about. Tell him there's an old friend that's here to see him." In Takeda's hand was a closed device made of a material the guard hadn't seen before. It looked hard and metallic but the details which formed the sigil he did recognize had a subtle silver glow to it.
There was a pause as tension built between them. As a lookout, it was his job to make sure that nobody made it through that wasn't approved by Jed. On the other hand, it was common knowledge that a Monsoon associated with Maelstrom wasn't to be impeded in their investigations. Especially ones that took place in the water or lightning countries.
"Look, just give me a second, okay? I need to talk to my boss. Wait here."
Once the lookout was gone, Takeda looked back to where he knew Kagerou and Nao were hiding. He didn't even have to give them the signal for them to get the picture. The warehouse had a gate set up around the perimeter, with the only real entrance being from the front, but Nao spotted a tear in the gate from her own time investigating. All they needed was a way to get there unseen without relying on chakra. The pink-haired student gave a silent nod to her temporary teammate and made her way over to the side of the building once she got Takeda's message. From there, it'd be Kagerou's decision on whether or not they'd use the front entrance after Takeda distracted everyone or slip in the back. While the other way in was closer to Jed's room, it would carry its own set of risks.
When the front door opened again, however, Takeda's expression changed for an instant. His steady gaze gave way to surprise, maybe even dread, and the reason why didn't take long to appear. Instead of being led inside where he could create the distraction and draw everyone in like a vacuum, Jed was the one to open the door with his entire entourage following. Thankfully, Takeda already regained his composure by the time Jed walked out, but all sorts of alarms were going off in his brain once he found himself surrounded by several people. He positioned himself off to the side while one after another came out from the door, not wanting to give anyone line-of-sight on Nao or Kagerou. The movement seemed subtle enough to escape detection, but he caught the way Jed's eyes narrowed behind his glasses. Takeda's breath caught in his throat, but he didn't give away anything with his expression. He didn't flinch or twitch, no, all he did was mentally beat himself for not expecting such a wild move. The leader of the band of thugs was never one to stray from an insane display.
Once the last person made their way out, Takeda did a quick headcount and found that at least fifteen people were surrounding him. At most, twenty. Once upon a time, the simple answer would be to fight his way into the room and take advantage of the entrance as a choke point. Moving to combat first, however, could jeopardize things while also giving his organization a bad rep. "Been awhile. Eyesight failing, or are you just trying to look the part of a shady loan shark?" He asked haughtily, refusing to show any sign of submission from the oppressive display of force. His gaze never wavered from the only person he cared about speaking to as if he was saying: "I couldn't care less about how many people you have" without needing to form words.
The response from the crowd was a mixture of surprise and anger. Some moved closer, and others spoke up. One was about to get a bit too close, though Jed waved his hand dismissively just as Takeda's body started to tense up. If one of them touched him, there'd be nothing stopping him from lashing out at that person and starting the fight under the guise of self-defense. Their leader probably knew that well enough. "Ah damn, you're too cool. Know that, right? You're just the ******** coolest." Spoke Jed, with his expression giving off the impression that he meant none of what he said. Sure it was a compliment, but he looked like he wanted to bite the Jiongu's head off. The words took Takeda by surprise. Not only because of what he was saying but also the language he spoke it in. The odds are there were only one or two people who understood what he said based on the reactions of those around him.
"You should know who I am without needing to test me. I haven't changed that much." Takeda responded in their native tongue, crossing his arms over his chest after. That was, of course, a lie in the eyes of anyone except him.
"Takeda. Why is it that you feel the need to butt in whenever I'm waist-deep in business? First with Kirigakure backing you, and now you're tagged by Maelstrom. You're starting to get on my nerves, clan ties or not." The tension in the air completely changed after that. He was speaking in the common tongue again, and the air of: "we need to crush this guy" turned into one of: "So, he knows this guy."
"You're at the wrong place at the wrong time, I guess. Work got involved. It's not like I'd choose to come back here on my own. But enough about that. You know who I'm with, which means you know that all you can do is try negotiating in your favor at this point. Unless you want a full-on raid on your hands." There wasn't any venom in his tone, but there was authority present. So long as Jed couldn't piece together the smaller pieces of the puzzle, he should have the advantage.
There was a silence after Takeda spoke that lasted far too long. An air of unease washed over him, and he found his mind starting to wonder how easy it might be to fight his way through. Just as he was about to speak again, another voice rang out from near the building's entrance. One that immediately sent a shiver down Takeda's spine. "Bring him in, Jed. Just like we discussed." The man speaking was about as tall as the two-toned leader, but with a much larger build overall. He was downright scary-looking, but there was something frighteningly familiar to him too. He couldn't place it or prove it, but the guy gave off something that reminded Takeda of that godforsaken hole in the ground.
"Who is he?" The question came out before he could think about whether or not it was safe to ask. It also hardly came out like a question. It was more like an order. It was far more demanding than it had any right to be. He wasn't even looking at Jed anymore, and he forgot for a moment about the people surrounding him. He felt his hairs standing on the back of his neck, and that feeling overcame anything else.
Jed stumbled over his words for a moment, taken aback by all of what happened at once. Something made him pause, but Jed spoke up once the large man closed his eyes in annoyance. "You need to come inside. Now. We can negotiate, sure, but not out here." It was firm, but there was no way to not sound suspicious with things being how they were.
If Takeda were alone, his fight or flight would have kicked in, but negotiating inside gave Nao and Kagerou the best opportunity to move unnoticed. He knew that, so his instincts didn't take over. Besides, he needed to trust that Kagerou could help him out of a rocky situation if one came to pass. "Fine. Let's negotiate." Takeda said, implying that he knew they'd be doing anything but that. Without another word, he walked right past Jed and towards the entrance with his eyes forward, refusing to give the man standing in the way the time of day. Everyone followed suit until the doors shut behind them, not even a lookout in sight anymore.

With one eye closed, Kagerou returned Nao's nod and followed after the younger kunoichi, pausing only long enough to weave a few hand signs and create an invisible eye that hovered above Takeda's shoulder. They had already agreed on this plan, and up to this point, nothing had changed from the expected nearly enough to warrant that they resort to plan B. Hopefully, then, while the two groups were separated, Kagerou would at least be able to keep an eye on her friend.
While keeping a eye on Takeda, Kagerou slipped in through the back with Nao, cool as a cucumber. She entered with supernaturally silent steps, likely warranting a glance from Nao as the other checked to see if Kagerou was still following along. If such was the case, Nao would be greeted with an amiable smile, as if the two were simply having a pleasant stroll through a park. As far as Kagerou could tell from her preliminary scans of the premises, there were few defenses set in place around this warehouse.
Thus, she could easily divide her attention across two fields, her immediate surroundings and the scene developing around Takeda. Ears kept alert for any advance warnings of approaching hostiles as her eyes filtered through two individual sources of information with trained ease.
"Who is he?" Takeda asked, Kagerou's supernatural eye reading his lips and expression. Prior to this, registering the shiver than ran down his back and catching the subtlest change in expression. Of course, she had also been trying to read Jed's and this new figure's expressions this whole time. The meeker Jed she saw, a figurative tail between his legs when in the presence of the newcomer, was of note. As for this newcomer who had so suddenly stolen the spotlight... She couldn't pin down anything for certain, which was a threat in and of itself.
Kagerou's one open eye narrowed as her supernatural eye read Takeda's lips. A sense of urgency came with the question Takeda asked, but she kept calm. There wasn't anything she could do with the concern she felt, not anything more than what Nao and her planned to do from the beginning, at least, which was to make as quick a work of this infiltration as possible.
Even as the gates closed with an ominous emptiness, without a single man spared to lookout, the green haired kunoichi carried on with her work. After all, if she couldn't trust Takeda, then there was no one she would be able to trust outside of her family.

โข Kiritani Ghost [200 Members] - Stealth is the bread and butter of the Kiritani. Kagerou's movements, even the most extreme, make no perceptible sounds and her body emits no perceptible scent. At least, none that can be perceived by most shinobi. Those with senses enhanced above and beyond by bloodline, PA, technique, etc. can catch faint traces of her sound and scent. โข Kiritani Ears [Two Year Anniversary] - The Kiritani are trained to have sensitive ears, able to pick out the chords in a song and the sound of a pin dropping in the next room over. Kagerou, having inherited the musical aptitude of her mother's clan and her father's sensory sensitivity, took fantastically to this training and achieved out of this world results. She has perfect pitch and altogether better hearing than others, easily able to hear whispers from the other side of the room and heartbeats of those close to her.
โฐ Kagura Mind's Eye [ Kagura Shingan ] | Rank X [ Learned as B ] User covers one eye. For each rank, the user can examine an additional thread. This reveals anything a naked human eye could witness, but with the benefit of being able to move into aerial positions and through building restrictions. If the user has doujutsu, they are able to perceive through their doujutsu's special abilities passively if they have any. At S+ rank, this can be used to view an entire subforum.

Kagerou & Nao:
The back of the warehouse was silent for a moment, though there was some minor activity. Bunkbeds and futons filled spaces outside of the center area, and closer to the door were two men working in a makeshift kitchen. Nao followed closely behind Kagerou and would wait for her move no matter what, though it was obvious from her movements that she was incredibly tense. She'd been in monster dens and several training ops but things were finally real to her. Before she could take another step or open her mouth to speak, one of the two men ahead spoke up.
"So. Maelstrom guy finally showed up, huh? Not gonna lie, I was starting to doubt Mr. Egawa's 'foresight.' Tch. Guy's a real monster." The smack of a pan followed by a flipped omelet stopped the guy on the left from speaking any further.
"Not good to run your mouth like that. Mr. Egawa isn't some mysterious stranger working on his own. His guys have been in and out of this building ever since he showed up. Put two and two together. All we're tasked to do is rip the Malestrom requests off the board and continue business as normal. His group obviously isn't the kind that can operate publically. If they were, they'd have done everything themselves." He stated, narrowing his eyes and putting the omelet on a plate before cracking more eggs over the hot pan. There were several dishes laid out, almost enough to feed the entire warehouse.
"So what? Think they'll make me disappear if I say something wrong? Heh. With how Jed's been acting lately, maybe they can. But hey, now that Egawa's got his guy maybe things'll go back to normal." He said, grabbing a plate and taking a step back only to flinch in response to the harder smack of the pan that followed.
"That's Mr. Egawa-" A whistle interrupted the cook as multiple people walked by the open door at the end of the room. Looking over, they saw Jed circling his finger above his head to signal them while continuing his path. The cook put the last omelet he cooked on a plate and both of them walked out.
----------------- Takeda ----------------------
Red eyes scanned the rooms as he passed, but Takeda hadn't dropped his guard even slightly. Things were off, he knew that, but he'd play along if it meant that his teammates could have an easier time. "Pretty sure we've passed quite a few rooms perfect for negotiating. Starting to make me nervous." He joked in a deadpan manner, his glare turning to fall on the large man. The one whose name he didn't know. The guy had a smug little smirk on his face but was otherwise looking straight ahead. He was obviously made of sturdier stuff than the others, and Jed was obviously feeling inferior. The usually loud-mouthed bandit was dead silent. He noticed the bandit leader round up people in different rooms and the crowd surrounding him was growing larger with each one. Eventually, there were no more rooms, only a metal staircase leading to the second floor. "That's far enough. Not taking another step until I get an idea of what's going on here." He stopped completely, and the air around him immediately filled up with tension. Sure he was outnumbered, but they knew he was Malestrom. Not only did it mean they had an idea of his strength, but killing him was also off the table. After all, they assumed he was only there to follow through on a Maelstrom contract.
"To put things bluntly, Monsoon, there's no way Maelstrom caught wind of our activities. You're here to fulfill a local contract off the mission board from Himawari. You did have a Monsoon contract, but that's just what led you into the water country in the first place. You'd never come here otherwise, and you always take missions on your way back to the border once you're done." The large man finally spoke up again since the first time at the entrance. In fact, he was the only one to speak openly since Takeda entered the building. Exuding an air of confidence about him, the man extended a hand to the Maelstrom operative. "I go by Mr. Egawa. It's nice to finally meet you, Takeda. Your name comes up a lot in my line of work."
Takeda, of course, didn't even look at the extended hand. The gears in his mind started turning into overdrive and his glare at that moment could melt steel. "Any reason I shouldn't squeeze every drop of information out of you right now, Mr. Egawa." He asked, a small dollop of politeness splashing over the ocean of animosity. If they knew he wasn't on a Maelstrom contract then they knew he was alone, and with him being a Monsoon it meant that it'd be no small feat to locate his body if it came to the worst-case scenario.
"Because I'm willing to answer those questions of yours without this ending in a bloodbath. We can all get out of this in one piece. I just couldn't approach you alone though, so I started working with this group to set up a meeting. They're my bodyguards so to speak, and I'm not speaking without them around. Now, go upstairs." Silence carried in the air for a while after that, but ultimately Takeda settled on the best decision. Keeping them all in a room upstairs made it incredibly easy for Kagerou and Nao to explore the warehouse. Wordlessly the jiongu ascended the steps.

A hand was already preemptively out to stop Nao from moving closer to the two men in the kitchen. The intent was clear, to stay hidden and to wait. Meanwhile, the very individual who advised caution had an easy smile on her own face as she patiently listened in on the conversation. All the while, her one open eye darted from side to side, surveying the alternate routes they could take to their destination.
There was more confirmation that Takeda's arrival had been expected. Although, now it added clarification that they hadn't necessarily expected exactly him in this exact capacity. They had simply set up a circumstance for some member of Maelstrom to arrive in, or so that's what it seemed to be.
"Egawa," Kagerou mulled over the name as she decided that the only way really was forwards. After flashing a brief symbol to Nao to let her know that she should continue holding, Kagerou brought her hands together to silently cast a technique that could hopefully get through the two undetected.
That was when her ears picked up Takeda's voice, faint but approaching. While normally something to be excited about, in this case, it also meant that the large group she had been observing was getting closer with that voice. Well, simply hearing all the footsteps that padded almost as loudly as that voice also told her as much. Wary of any wandering eyes that might catch sight of something they hadn't been searching for, Kagerou shifted to a faster, though less thorough technique to mask both herself and Nao until the group passed completely, taking the cooks with them. Though focused scrutiny may discover them, there shouldn't be reason to scrutinize them, unless Kagerou had already been traced thanks to the chakra she was expending into the Kagura's Mind's Eye and, now, this technique.
With the leaving of the men, Kagerou waited while she watched the proceedings at the stairs, waiting to see how it would advance before she could make the decision to go through the hallway or to make a door through the nearest wall.
Kagerou would be lying if she said she wasn't worried the more she heard. She would especially be lying if, for just a little bit, the thought to covertly take down one of the kitchen workers and take on their appearance so she could follow after Takeda in person hadn't crossed her mind. However, she couldn't be as spoiled as she had been the last time she had been with Takeda on a mission. Both of them had grown, and they had spent entire years taking care of their own selves. She had to trust him, just as she had for those years, to be able to do the same here, even if it was all that much harder to do the closer he was.
The whole thing smelled fishy, and Kagerou grew up in Kirigakure, but this was as far as her good judgement told her it was alright to go. The meeting, or whatever that went on up there, had too high of a chance of being closely surveyed. Withdrawing her astral eye, Kagerou turned and swiped it over in the opposite direction, towards her and then through the walls towards Jed's room, which, if memory served her correctly, should be on the same side of the hallway they were.

Kagerou & Nao: The first room the eye passed through had nothing of any particular value inside. A storage room at best, cluttered with various unimportant things from pots and pans to tools. If anything were to catch the eye, it'd be the small black box with an antenna sticking out from the top. It had a dull red light that would only get brighter the longer her eye remained. The second room, however, was much more interesting. It was an office first and foremost with a futon in the corner. Most of the wall space was occupied by scroll holders and billboards, with very little room for posters and decorations. There was a tacky pin-up poster but it did little to stifle the overall atmosphere of the room. On one side of the room was a desk with a barely organized surface. Filled-up binders and scroll holders threatened to spill over and reveal their contents. There was also a dark red trunk beside it, roughly a meter tall and three wide.
Out in the hall, three people remained on the first floor while the rest went to protect Egawa during his meeting with Takeda. "Well, I'm going back to the front to watch over the place. I suggest you two do the same." The woman among the group said, walking away with a small wave of her hand. She obviously didn't seem bothered by what was going on, but it was a different story for the two guys who remained.
"Damn. I don't know if you felt it, but I thought that guy was going to start a fight right then and there. I thought I was ready for anything, but..." He gave a long exhale and then held a hand to his chest, grimacing. It wasn't easy to admit weakness when you were in a gang, but it was way too much stress for him to handle.
"Guy's Maelstrom, can't blame you. They're already scary but he's the next step up. Being a Monsoon means they trust you to take on issues all over the world, not just Water or Lightning. I don't know why Mr. Egawa wanted this guy specifically, but he must've had some bargaining chip. Otherwise, we'd be on our asses right now." The distinct click of a lighter went off as the last man to speak lit a cigarette for himself to ease his own strength. That could've easily gone either way. If a fight broke out they could try their best to overwhelm with numbers, but if the guy turned out to be some unhinged killer then a lot of the gang would honestly run away. "Well whatever. The worst has passed. Here, want a smoke?"
"No, I think I'm just gonna eat breakfast and lay down for a while. Thanks though." Shaking off the anxiety, he walked into the living area to get the food left out for him. .

A doorway wouldn't do, not when several of the guards remained on the first floor and a red warning light flashed in the storage room between the kitchen and Jed's sleeping quarters. However, it wouldn't be fair to say Kagerou had run out of ideas, or that she even had any reason to deviate from the plans set forth earlier. A mysterious sponsor hadn't been accounted for, but there was so far nothing that deviated from the expected. Even the fight brewing upstairs, though Kagerou admitted she was over-worried for, was not surprising. She simply couldn't shake off the bad feeling she had from seeing Takeda's earlier reaction. The building chill from upstairs that her chakra senses picked up, a feeling she associated with techniques of the hyouton variety, did not help ease the tension.
The Kagura's Mind's Eye was dispersed and while those outside continued to comment on Takeda and this Egawa individual, the green haired kunoichi turned to her pink haired companion and whispered with a relaxed smile, "Can you trust me?" as she raised a hand that had just completed a series of hand seals, "I can teleport you straight into Jed's room. Once there, in the case that I can't reconvene with you, I'll trust you to fulfill the objective and find your own way out. Is that okay?". This was a change of plans, after taking into consideration how the expected escalation of the meeting seemed to be taking an unexpected acceleration, and hopefully Nao would recognize it as such without much fuss or need of an explanation.
Without waiting for an answer, as the technique itself would answer for Nao, Kagerou tapped a hand upon the girl's shoulder and released her chakra. So long as Nao was willing, she would find herself transported in a flash, pretty red eyes suddenly replaced by a pin-up poster that didn't even look half as good.
Once Nao could get the real mission started, Kagerou turned. There was still an omelet in the kitchen, which meant someone wasn't going to let the food go to waste. Sticking her tongue out in displeasure at the mention of smoking, Kagerou waited to get line of sight upon the hungry guard and cast a Demonic Illusion: False Surroundings Technique upon him as he entered. Not a single thing changed with the genjutsu, the kitchen remaining as is. Though, perhaps due to the very nature of the genjutsu, he might initially feel as if something was off before seeing his desired omelet and realizing it was probably just because he was hungry. The kitchen was as it had been and as it should be.
Nothing had been changed, but the illusion, paid with a higher cost to increase its intricacy and thus envelope Kagerou within its trickery, masked the kunoichi's silent approach as she walked up. Without the ringing of her bells, she had little to give her any presence, and like a ghost, she rounded the, if all was going according to her plan, unsuspecting guard. Her hands reached forwards and firmly gripped his shoulders to trigger another genjutsu, the Nemuri technique, to knock him out of commission. Though, ever with an eye for details, before his fork clattered noisily onto the floor as his passed out arm dragged it down, she caught the utensil and silence any racket it may have made.
She may have sent Takeda's student away for her safety, just in case Kagerou needed to act as the second decoy. However, that didn't mean she had given up on completing this mission as a complete ghost.

Relieved from his hunger and ready to be tucked in, the hungry ruffian was laid to rest by Kagerou's techniques with hardly a sound. With beds making up the entire room outside of the main path through the middle it wouldn't be difficult to keep things discreet, too. If there was any noticeable sound, it was the distinct beeping sound from the next room over. Loud enough to be picked up by the Kunoichi's excellent hearing but not enough to catch the attention of anyone standing outside. After a few seconds, the sound would fall outside of its normal rhythm as another one, then five, then over ten more subtle beeps would start up from above her. The second floor. There was only one indication that anything major had occurred, and that was the introduction of an entirely new beast for her sensory abilities to pick up on. Two sharp increases in chakra started at the same time, large enough to narrow down the possibilities to Hachimon, curse marks, or a summoning jutsu. Oddly enough, it seemed to be fighting against something imperceivable. It was like there was something pressed against a running faucet, trying to resist something that had to come out as it burst out around the obstacle.
As if the beeping wasn't bad enough, a cacophony of voices came out in the form of confused shouts, stomping footsteps, and indiscernible screaming. The one thing to cut through all the noise was the shout from Jed, his tone more forceful than it had ever been.
"Everyone back downstairs, now!"
Even though the sound of Nao's exploration of the other room had been mostly silent even to Kagerou's ears, she'd suddenly hear the sound of moving furniture and different drawers opening. Fortunately, she eventually found what she was looking for if the repeated use of the Enclosing technique was any indication. The odds of people walking into Jed's room were slim so she had some degree of breathing room. More than Kagerou did, at least. Around twenty people started descending the stairs, some heading towards the front area while others made their way to the makeshift barracks.
"That...didn't seem right. I get it that this Egawa guy is big, but Jed just let him run everything up there. Also, didn't this guy say there wouldn't be any funny s**t on the first day he showed up?" One asked, obviously taken aback by what he'd witnessed. There were some mostly neutral responses as people seemed to walk on to their destinations, but one of the girls spoke up.
"He said no blood. No blood, no bodies, no baggage, and he's lived up to that. I have no idea how he's going to shut up the Maelstrom guy after that, I'm just worried about how Jed's taking it all. Come on, let's go see what everyone's up to out front."
With people clearing into different rooms, the hallway itself was becoming empty. Nobody went into Jed's office and the strange beeping coming from upstairs was blocking out a fair bit of noise.

After being so nice as to princess carry her victim to one of the beds, she was ready to proceed to step two of her plan, but just as Kagerou straightened her back, hair waving before her face with the motion, her ears perked at the increasingly loud beeping from the next room over. Her attention darted to the door in concern and curiosity, running with the first guess she had that the beeping came from that blinking red signal she had seen earlier. She did wonder what exactly that machine detected. Chakra, she supposed, but of what kind? Before she could figure out anything more, though, additional beeps joined in, these coming from the floor above.
Red eyes narrowed as she cloaked herself in the chameleon skin genjutsu and ducked behind the closest cover, out of the direct line of sight of the horde that soon came running through. As she picked up tidbits of their conversation, hearing the scattering of their footsteps in different direction and some talk of an event happening out front, she honed her senses once more. The sensory eye reformed, and though her natural senses were deluged by the piercing alarms, her supernatural vision provided clarity. First, it slid into the hallway and then around the turn to enter Jed's room where, with line of sight, she created a kage bunshin, a doppleganger of herself. Then, while her doppleganger exchanged pleasntries with Nao, the same eye shot up to the second floor. A different layout covered the upper level, which was important in its own way but not what she wanted. Warning signs galore glowed through different devices, but she didn't hesitate in their presence now. They had clearly all been triggered already.
After some searching, she founds Jed's presence marked the door of interest. Otherwise, she would have not known which of the different corners and entrances would lead her to where Takeda was located. He paced to and fro, looking for all the world like a father to be waiting for the birth of his first child. An entertaining thought tickled her fancy through the serious business: "Who would be the mother? The mysterious Mr. E or Takeda?". While she considered the pros of Takeda's malleable innards for the smooth delivery of a child, her eye fell into pace above Jed's shoulder, keeping him silent company as she considered the door and her options. After all, despite her calm demeanor, she could more than relate to his anxiety. She, too, was very worried about Takeda in that room. However, no matter how worried, it didn't change the fact that he had yet to give the signal.
===
The newly created clone of Kagerou stood in front of Nao and waved a quiet greeting. "Are you ready to leave?" the copy asked softly as its clever eyes swept around the room to confirm the progress Nao had made. With too many uncertain factors, she couldn't 100% predict what would occur, but at least one out of the possibilities she considered pointed towards Nao not having much time at all. If they didn't leave now, they would run the risk of making a ruckus.
===
In the meantime, the real Kagerou slipped from her hiding spot and made her careful way through the barracks and into the hallway, taking caution to remain unseen. No matter how she saw it, this was the time to worry and take initiative. However, no matter what the case, it did not change that Takeda had still not deemed it necessary to call for help. She could act rashly. She had the elbow room to, but in the end, would that help Takeda?
Cutting through the hallway and then up the stairs, footsteps ever so silent, the camouflaged shinobi carefully surveyed her surroundings with both sets of eyes. She stopped just short of where she would be in Jet's line of set as he paced across the room, and keeping her blended body mostly hidden, she peered around the corner to the pacing man. Once he was in her physical sights, she employed a second sensory technique, placing its point of origin not on herself as the technique intended, but manipulating it to just outside the door with her clan's hidden techniques. The burst of chakra relayed to her information on the emotional states of all within 50'. At the same time, she sent her eye through the door to finally survey the truth of the matter herself now that she'd covered her bases.

โข Kiritani Hidden Technique: Song of ____ X [Learned] Type: Manipulation Element: Varies A technique modified by this manipulation changes its point of origin to anywhere within line of sight and 320 meters. In exchange, employing this manipulation takes an amount of chakra equal to one rank lower than the base technique, down to 5 chakra at lowest. When manifested with this manipulation, techniques give a telltale a sign, a brief indication in the instant that they activate. It could be the spark of a building katon technique, a lazily drifting bunch of chakra manifestation leaves to herald a futon technique, or even a deceptively cheery ball of bright energy that hides a harmful eisei technique within. This is a manipulation to a base technique, and so takes zero activations to use. The element/type of this manipulation for the purpose of chakra reductions and the like is determined by the base technique. Multiple manipulations may be used on one technique. This manipulation cannot modify Taijutsu, Bukijutsu, or anything not wholly paid with chakra.

It wouldn't be easy to figure out what to look at first. The room was fairly simple, with all the furniture removed or pushed off to the side and against the walls. A reddish hue illuminated the room significantly as Mr. Egawa stood there, holding his hands up and tearing at the air as if moving an invisible toy around. Floating in the air between his hands was an unfurled scroll, and from its center came a light that pictured an image above. As a medical ninja, Kagerou would recognize that it was a live feed of human insides, and each movement of Egawa's hands was used to explore it without needing to touch anyone. His hands were coated in a thin veil of chakra, alluding to it being part of a technique that allowed the otherwise impossible feat. Of course, she'd also quickly recognize that the insides didn't match exactly with that of a normal human's. Which was only natural, considering it was an inside view of Takeda.
The Jiongu knelt on the other side of the room with one hand over his chest while the other kept him supported. He was breathing heavily, obviously showing signs of exhaustion even if he didn't appear to have a mark on him. There were, however, other abnormalities. There was little black left in his hair, most of it having been replaced with white instead, and the black bands that generally rose to the surface of his skin when drawing on his power were blood red. Not only that, but some of them crystallized above his skin and tore through his cloak. Those crystals would frequently shatter and release chakra particles in the air, giving it the appearance of being continuously burned away. The inside view of his body showed some of his tendrils being burned out without even rising to the surface first to crystallize. They were also red within, almost making him look human. Overall though, from an outside perspective, it didn't look good. He was rapidly destroying himself.
Despite everything though, the strangest thing was Takeda's emotional state. He was alarmingly calm despite the circumstances, which would have been enough on his own, but there was also something deeper. Excitement. Relief. A hint of other emotions that came together to form something akin to slight arrogance. Maybe if he had a big, s**t-eating grin on his face it would seem normal, but he looked pained. Stressed. Angry. Everything he actually wasn't. After being known for wearing his emotions on his sleeve for most of his life, it was quite the change. There was also the matter of hyouton chakra, which seemed to go right over Egawa's head. It built around Takeda like an aura but otherwise didn't release at all. After taking in everything, it would come down to two different possibilities. He was playing Egawa or didn't realize how bad of a situation he was in. It would also be of note that the large-statured man was moving his lips, talking to someone that likely wasn't in the room, considering that Takeda didn't respond to him once.
The second curse mark was still unexplained.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nao nodded to Kagerou, doing a quick once-over of the room herself. "Mm! Thankfully I knew what to look for. This is the only bargaining chip they really had, so...yeah. You and Takeda-sensei can do whatever you need to make sure Jed and his people leave this place..." She kept her voice down, but there was some visible excitement on her that was impossible to keep hidden. Nao knew that they needed to go as soon as possible, but there was one more thing. Standing absolutely still, she bowed to the older kunoichi with all the respect she could muster. "Thank you for doing this...you didn't really have to, but you went out of your way, so thank you."

The clone, blissfully ignorant of the hell that was going on upstairs returned Nao's smile and nodded. Seeing the excitement and gratitude written on the other's eased the tension she had inherited from her original. Rest assured, though she never doubted it, something good will come out of this mission. "It's what we do, Takeda and me both. Now then, I'll use the same technique as earlier to drop you off somewhere safe," the clone explained, hand raising up to offer Nao a place to put her own hand, "You'll appear in a backroom at the Himawari Jobs building. When you get out, just let them know I sent you there for your safety and they should let you out without trouble."
Once their hands came into contact with each other, the clone would activate the heavenly transmission technique to transport only Nao.

Upstairs, the real Kagerou was having a much less heartwarming moment. Though there certainly was a heart out in the open, she couldn't even make a mental joke of it or how Takeda was getting something like a C-section. No, all she could hear was the pounding of her own heart in her ears as information flooded into her mind, each passing millisecond filling her with further dread. The signs of a cursed seal, but one completely out of control. The scene of Takeda's innards in front of Egawa, evidently being toyed with to his needs and purposes. The white hair, faltering breath, discolored and crystallized tendrils that shattered and released chakra out of control. Even Jed exuded worry and regret in his pacing steps, which might have been the most telltale sign if Kagerou hadn't already felt like it was her own chest being rummaged through.
Her hand reached to her own chest, in the same spot Takeda was holding his chest, and clenched at her shirt as she took deep breaths, forcing herself to stay in place. Cold sweat ran down her face, a smile nowhere to be seen. Eyes cast down to the ground as she focused. Focused and recouped, reminding herself that she and Takeda worked as a team. It would do neither of them any good if she broke that trust and rushed in like some sort of savior. With Takeda's broken figure no longer being the only image filling her mind, her mind opened to the information she had previously ignored, the findings that didn't align with the "Takeda in danger" narrative.
Excitement, relief, and even arrogance despite the look on his face being the exact opposite. A little of the smile returned as she understood, "Looks like you've learned how to ninja." She recalled the strange technique Takeda had displayed earlier, back at Nao's house, "And you've no doubt got your own trump cards like any other ninja. Okay then, Takeda, I'll let you play your game."
However, far be it from Kagerou to play the same game. If Takeda had Egawa, then she would have Jed. Eyes darting to her target, she waited for his paces to leave his back open to her and, using his blind spots, shifted silently until she was close enough to wrap her arms around him.
Why? Because that's exactly what she did. Walk up to him and give him a hug from the back. Though, it wasn't so simple as that. Laced in her arms was medical chakra that would stun Jed, even if it didn't make contact, pulsing out in a small burst to cover Jed's whole body. Smiling behind the boss's ear, she asked earnestly, "So, I'm not going to bluff and pretend that I got some hard way or easy way prepared, but I noticed you also don't agree with what your distinguished guest is doing to Takeda?".

"It's meant to be just business. I've known Tak since he was just a kid. Hell, his father taught me how to hunt. There's a lot of storied history there; I wouldn't expect someone he met in a village to know about it." He finished off what he said with attitude but was quickly reminded that he was paralyzed when he tried to gesture with flair to top off his sentence. He recognized the girl, of course. Not only that, but he had more info on her than he did on Takeda, given that the latter was basically invisible for years. While it would have been nice to up the drama with a "so it's you, Kagerou..." or something like that, he was too emotionally exhausted. It wasn't like he was in a position to withhold information anyway. He could give her nothing but the information needed by being compliant. Refusing to cooperate could result in Shinobi tricks being used to harness more info than needed. That was, of course, a red flag in Jed's line of work. Something to avoid.
"Tak's different from the rest of us. There are rules out here, and one of those is that the clan comes before anything else. His clan, gods rest their souls, all died except for him, so he didn't have to worry about rules anymore. I had to provide, and so I did. Year after year, no matter what I had to do, I made sure anyone following me got their fill. We were living comfy some distance away from here, not bothering anyone important. Not until some b***h from horror stories showed up and destroyed everything we had." He would spit if he could. He could still speak even if everything above his neck felt numb, but there was no managing anything else.
"We start wandering after that. No idea what to do until some guy approaches us in a mask. Asked some questions. Where we grew up, what our clan did, and other s**t like that. He's the one who gave us the idea for this operation, then Egawa showed up. He claimed to be a friend of our masked associate, said he needed us to help set a trap for some Maelstrom nobody. He started setting up machines around the place and then taught our guys how to disrupt Maelstrom communications. Then we find out that he's a Monsoon so fighting him is out of the picture. Egawa stays confident even then. Now Tak shows up and everything's clear. There's just one thing I don't get. I had a guy who used to hang out around the Sero back in the day. Said he last spotted Takeda ages ago on the road with a group. They're all carrying supplies and we come to find out it's for helping build up Arashi. Then silence. I never hear of him ever again. Hell, I even hear about you from time to time, but him? Nothing. Then he comes out of nowhere and he's tagged by Maelstrom? As a Monsoon no less? Then that thing he's got going on...I thought Arashi did it to him, but I'm starting to doubt that now."
Then it happened. An explosion of powerful emotion going on in the next room as the entire atmosphere changed within. Terror. Though it was impossible to tell what it was he said, Kagerou would be able to see that Takeda's lips moved. He said something and glared defiantly at the larger man, a smile pulling at his lips despite his exhausted visage. The activation of his next technique came quickly and effortlessly, and any wounds or fatigue started to wash away due to the Genesis Rebirth technique he prepared some time ago. "Jed! Get in here, now!" He called, making a quick step towards the door but the Jiongu was faster. The projection of Takeda's insides went away when he lost concentration, and he raised his arms to block a punch that turned out to just be a feint for a low sweep. Thankfully, his reflexes and fight-or-flight combined to help him jump over the low kick.
Unfortunately, he wouldn't manage to piece together his next move fast enough. As Takeda's body circled following the kick, that aura of frost which built up over time finally came forth as a wave of ice that followed the path of his leg, freezing the floor along with a fair portion of Egawa's body. Suddenly having trouble thinking, he failed to correct himself on his landing and slipped right on the frozen floor, his body lurching into the heel kick initiated by Takeda when he flipped back following his sweep. Normally, such a powerful move would launch an opponent several meters into the sky, but the room was not that big. Instead, Egawa was forced to bounce off the ceiling, the floor, then the ceiling again before being dazed by another one of Takeda's flying kicks. Normally the combination was meant to be finished off with a heel drop to the head, but he was aware enough to know that something like that would knock someone's head off with his current power output. Instead, he grabbed the back of the larger man's collar after he bounced across the room one more time and threw him to the ground.
With that problem handled, he placed a hand on his chest and slowly tried to manage his breathing. The crystallization eventually stopped and the sigils on his body faded to black along with his hair before they returned beneath his skin. Just that small streak of white remained in his hair. A tiny, adorable little omen.

Not a word came from Kagerou. Though, the occasional, "hmm" and "mhm" was hummed from behind Jed to encourage his continued speaking until the mention of a certain "b***h," after which she fell silent. She sounded pleasant enough about it. In other circumstances, she might not have minded, in fact. She could understand where Jed came from, even feel a little bad for him, even if she would never agree to his philosophy.
The problem here was she was also coming from another side, and that side fueled her with the urge to say more than a few words to Jed's explanation. She quelled the unwarranted dialogue, though, knowing that it would be for naught. Better for her to stay silent, listen, and learn because there was a lot to learn from what Jed said. On top of everything, it included that he had been keeping his eye on the two of them, which warranted either a reason or a far more competence for intelligence than Kagerou had initially judged him to have.
With the new respect, her arms slid off of Jed as she separated from him. The medical technique in question would remain on Jed even after contact, now that the technique had been applied, and Kagerou would have more options for self defense with a little bit of distance. She rounded Jed, bells ringing with each step once more, until they were face-to-face and he would be able to see her smile. Her bitter, worried smile. Earlier, when she had smiled upon realizing Takeda's plan, it hadn't been out of relief or security. She'd only smiled because he had surprised her, exceeded her expectation, and it was her way of recognizing he had grown. She was still very dissatisfied at Takeda's current situation, to put it lightly.
Though she expected nothing out of it, she spoke frankly. "Thank you for your information, sir, and I am sorry for what happened to you and your clan, but as I am sure you understand, Takeda and I have our own rules that we follow.
...
You're a good businessman, Jed, if what I've seen of the people downstairs means anything. If you would like, you can contact me through the Himawari mission board. I could assuage your worries regarding Arashi over a spot of tea. Should you have the need, we could also discuss business. It appears to me that Mr. Egawa and yourself are ill suited at working together."
Straight through the explosion of emotions, even through Mr. Egawa's command, Kagerou spoke without faltering. Her eyes remained locked on Jed, not in warning or threat, but just in demonstration that his every movement was being watched and would be properly countered. He already knew her to be on Takeda's side. Surely, he would be able to deduce that she would put a stop to any advance he might make.
As the room behind her gave its final rattle in reaction to the large body being bounced along its walls, Kagerou gave a polite bow, and turned. Her physical and chakra eyes swapped positions. The former turned to the door separating her and Takeda while the latter moved out of the room the door led to in order to keep an eye on Jed.
She hesitated.
So, however long ago, even before now, Takeda had been in Water. A member of Maelstrom, and a Monsoon no less. Organizations she knew little about but recognized as Water-based factions. When he became Monsoon, she didn't know, but it meant he had spent quite a good deal of time in Water without seeing or contacting her. It simply felt like confirmation on her suspicions that Takeda really just wanted to distance himself from his past, or at least the past related to Kirigakure, just like Nozomi.
Not having the heart to step in confidently, she instead gave the door a long series of knocks. A short knock, followed by four longer knocks, and ending with 10 short knocks.

Takeda was in the middle of tying up Egawa's arms and legs when he heard a specific knock at the door. Normally he'd spend some more time to deplete his target of all their chakra and then exhaust them with Iryojutsu, but it being Kagerou made it different. Unfortunately, the possibility of her knocking right after he finished Egawa was slim. He doubted that a Kunoichi who focused on support wouldn't focus on Sensory techniques, so he'd have questions to answer even if she didn't know everything that happened. Once the man was tied up nice and tight, Takeda left him there and walked towards the door. He could notify Maelstrom to send someone down and retrieve Egawa for later interrogation. First things first, he needed to make sure Jed didn't come back.
Takeda opened the door and looked down to see exactly who he expected. A small smile made its way onto his lips in a silent attempt to reassure her that he was alright. After all, she could see that things didn't exactly go as planned back on the first floor. "My side is all taken care of. Thanks for taking care of Jed for me." He said calmly, though he hung on the last sentence for a moment as if he had something else to say. He wanted to thank her further and apologize for not giving her any signs that he was alright. It would have to be saved for after the mission, though.
He walked by Jed and crouched down to get a good look at him, watching his eyes for a moment. The larger man probably expected to be reprimanded, but Takeda just sighed instead. "The old place. It's yours now. If I ever catch you stretching the law over there or getting wrapped up with guys like Egawa again, I'll seriously kill you." It would probably come off as strange to Kagerou from the outside looking in. Sure, Takeda threatened Jed there, but he only did it because of the faith his offer came with.
"Shut the ******** up, you know I can't accept that. It's yours and that's that."
"Does it look like I'm going to be moving back there any time soon? It's your best chance. It has protection, too. So it's either you take it and be quiet or I round up all your men and have you turned in to Maelstrom."
"..."
"Just do me one favor once you're over there. Put their things to the side for me. I shouldn't need to explain much more than that."
He stared hard at Jed, making sure that there was nothing else for the man to say. It wasn't out of rudeness that he brought up Jed's men. No, he knew it was the perfect weak spot to target. Even if they met under the guise of a "negotiation," Takeda was handing him a huge bargain by not kicking him out to the curb with nothing. Jed was wise enough to understand that resisting any further put everything in jeopardy. He couldn't defeat Kagerou and Takeda even if he wasn't paralyzed. Even if all his men were alongside him. It may have been cruel for the Jiongu to rub that in, but it came from a good place.
Standing up, his gaze made its way back to Kagerou. "Can you release him? His men will walk out a lot easier if he's there with him."

Unprepared scarlet orbs uncertainly greeted Takeda when he opened the door. Below them, a missing smile. Though, as Kagerou smiled often, it wasn't difficult to convince the smile to return. She only needed to see Takeda's face and that familiar curve to her lips returned. Albeit, hesitantly, looking more like she was smiling with Takeda than any reason of her own. Something appeared to have been left unsaid at the end of his words, but Kagerou nodded as if she understood and stepped out of the way, figuring that Takeda was struggling with finding a way to say that he wanted to deal with Jed first.
She remembered then what she had told herself earlier. This was Takeda's and Nao's story. She would just help and enjoy herself from the sidelines, and now that it was drawing to an end, she had to say that the story was closing enjoyably enough.
Unhappily burdened with her uncertainty, Kagerou blinked and turned her mind to more useful pursuits. While also trying to give Takeda some privacy, she turned her head to look into the room, surveying the Mr. Egawa from a safe distance. He was given a once-over, a visual check-up that also committed his image into memory. By the time she was done, Takeda was calling for her, and Kagerou felt slightly more settled now that she had let her mind work for a bit.
"Naturally," she replied, the customarily quick recovery of her emotional state apparent in her tone as she turned her head back around to face Takeda with a smile. She stepped to the pair, hands weaving signs in customary shinobi fashion, and unlike her fanciful hug from earlier, she simply placed her glowing hand atop Jed's head. From the point of contact, Jed would feel his circulation open, the adjusted flow of blood reducing his paralysis until it was no more. She turned to Takeda once she was done and asked, for good measure, "The man in the other room, he'll live, but he's likely going to be in pain if he's moved without treatment. Could I tend to him as well? Or will you have difficulty transporting him if his body is in better condition?".
It was the customary Kagerou question, marking the end of a mission's actions and the beginnings of its clean-up. Though, some things worked differently this time around. Egawa, for instance. Once her healing business with Egawa was finished, Kagerou ignored whatever further business Takeda had of the man, realizing in full now that he had his own backing and resources. If Takeda didn't accept her offer of medical assistance for Egawa, then poor Jed would have to suffer her attention, as she meticulously walked him through the recovery of his paralysis, making sure he hadn't taken any lingering damage from her offensive iryo technique and that her healing iryo technique had been applied accurately and in full. If he, at any time in the near future, felt anything was off with his body, then he was reminded heavily to go see a doctor just to make sure everything was alright.
Not a word was breathed on Takeda's condition in the whole while. She kept those worries to herself, citing tact as one reason and quoting the need for the right time and place to pin him down as another reason. The possibility that it might be because she didn't feel ready for rejection wasn't entertained. Besides, even if the possibility was an actuality, she knew it wouldn't change anything. With what she knew of Takeda, she would just regret keeping quiet. He might have been as dense as a brick, but he was also as blunt as one. At least, the Takeda she remembered was like a brick, but the Takeda she remembered also couldn't fake an act for his life. Couldn't? Or was it wouldn't? One or the other. Regardless, he was the type of person to ask earnestly and directly, and she was the type of person who would blame herself for not playing to his beat. Sooner or later, she would bring the question up herself if she had to. It was just that... now wasn't the best time.
