" RYO!" Udo said, capping the noise of a laugh.
We use iiiiit... instead of trading shells, cows, chickens and s**t.""No cows. No chickens. No rice. We use Ryo. They're big, fat flashy coins and printed squares of paper with pictures and numbers on them and they make people jumpy." Udo said as he began to fumble through some of the pockets of his vest to produce a coin.
"Now, uh, that's a mon." He held up a small, ornate coin with a square hole punched through its center.
" It''s not a big fat gold coin but it's still currency. Ryo's the big money. Big value metal bits. And frankly, people get pissy when they don't get something in return after handing something like this over. " A light voice pipes out from the damaged doorway calls out, "unless it's a charity!" The young lady who minds the desk had reappeared as the liaison of the front to the back of Sunrise.
Udo casts a look to the girl, sighs, and stares at the coin in his fingers. His brow arches as he made sense of the Oni's words.
"Huh." He turned the coin with his inspection.
"This, actually is a human thing. Well. Whatever." All the while, the sense of confidence and hope once beaming through our seamster was draining with every word Skaprm shared concerning money.
"What?" Unfortunately, for Iemitsu, the whole money business was bypassing most of Skarpm's agreement to advertise Sunrise's good name.
"Forget it, Mitsu." Udo said, voicing sympathy in its barest form as he turned to spare a hard glance to his brother
"It's square." The situation was tying the Palace officer's hands.
"Unki'll have to eat the damages and the loss. We're already need to close off the street so rope construction out here to fix this massive HOLE in the ground." He spoke tightly with emphasis on the damage, gesturing at the debris.
At the crumbling doorway, the faithful artist Masaji fell to his knees looking pale and just all sorts of sad as the Palace officer writes off this crime to the books.
"See? Hear that? He's ready to settle his debt!" Udo's tone changed for the few, sunny seconds he thought everyone was on the same page. Nope. The surge of energy coursing from Skarpm suddenly made the hairs on Udo's neck rise. A familiar vibe from the former shinobi's history was the air of combat riling an opponent.
"Drop it. Drop it right now, man. The last thing either of us shoulda wanna' do here is fight." The seamster squeaks,
"fight?!" He shrinks suddenly behind Udo as crack in his voice was betraying his composure.
"I am not a fighter!" "You're on our turf. You play by our rules. Can you live by that? Fighting me is only gonna' make this worse. " It was becoming more and more apparent this Oni was certainly a visiting foreigner. Udo didn't have to look like he was
sizing up anyone to know duking it out with Skarpm would be a bad idea. In the city or not, any tussles with a man who could down a behemoth like his sister was majorly, a
bad idea. Udo furrowed his brow and eyed the width of Skarpm's shoulders and his curly horns before squaring back up with his eyes. HIs fangs. Udo was firm. Firm against the fear of that the Oni could do with his innate features and foreseeing the chaos that would ensue in a one versus many brawl in the streets. The "sensible older brother figure" wouldn't be allowed to live any mishap down. Udo remained firm as he stood upright and voiced the ideal path to spare anyone from a massive headache.
"Your best bet is leaving the city with you and your suit intact and out of trouble. Then spreadin' the word about Sunrise. Like you said. J-just ******** the money." Iemitsu, meanwhile, continues to cower behind Udo's back and watches Skarpm over the side of his brother's arm.
"It is a nice suit."Said the seamster as he pokes out his lip, thinking of the horrific imagery of the Tenrikishi guards-people ripping the finery to shreds. Why, the quiet assistant who had been watching from the broken doorway had
finally called out from the sidelines. Looking frantic. Feeling frantic.
"Noo! NO! DON'T ********> THE MONEY!"Udo jostled Iemitsu off his body with his elbow, "get your people inside." He spoke trying to hide the defeat.
"Listen. Iemitsu. Forget the money. Like I said, the affairs of Sunrise is between You and Unki and she's just gonna' have to eat the costs and supplement your losses. He's your walking, talking billboard wearing a suit ya'll slaved over. Just pray to your gods and pick up the pieces. He goes on his way. Everyone lives. " It took a moment but the little doe-eyed entrepreneur who just wanted to pay his employees at the end of the day was finally able to have whole picture sink in. His fear slunk into a sad, reality that was disappointing as he cast his violet sights to the ground and nodded. When Iemitsu's grip wasn't fixed to Udo's shoulder, the blond elder again nudged for the seamster to flee.
"Get. Oh. No. Wait. Business card." The exchange of a business card was quick like habit. Iemitsu stopped sulking long enough to wordlessly extend a glossy, business card with a geometric sun on its face to Skarpm. Certainly, still, unless the miscommunication hadn't been smoothed out Iemitsu and Udo could still be squaring off with an Oni ready to fight.
"Take it. Flash it when you're spicing up your rhymes. More harmless human junk. Stuff in the coat somewhere. It's got interior pockets, right?" Jenni Deer
