It's hard to say. If he had it at the time of the nine-tail's attack, then it wouldn't have been from an accident to show off. Well, it might still be an accident, but he tends to touch it when he's nervous. It's a reflective thing, attached to some powerful amotion or lesson memory, so either he got it being foolish or from the Kyuubi. I dunno which lol
NO SPOILERS HERE! So don't worry to read it.
In the manga we learn some time during the time jump how Kakashi got the scar and the Sharingan, but they have yet to talk about Ikura's scar, ai it might not be that big of a deal after all--or it's been explained through his touching it >.> Which would be hard to define lol
