“I thought you’d like the color,” Rhiyn began awkwardly, looking to Monath. Was this right? “I tried to have the artist match Monath’s color as much as possible with the stone.” He paused and looked again to the dragon. He still seemed to be struggling with knowing what to say.
“I love you,” he said. “When I heard you lecturing your brothers I thought it would be a good time to surprise you. I love seeing you smile.”

"It really does look quite a bit like her, at least as close in shade as you are going to get with this. Her color is radiant, hard to get it perfect, but the artist came pretty close in my opinion. I love you too, I hope you know that. And I definitely could use a smile today,"Demanthra admitted to him.

Rhiyn couldn't help but smile. Demanthra seemed happy with the gift--enough that she hadn't worried about the price of it! He'd been concerned about that, but she certainly seemed to like it. "Of course," he said. He knew how she felt about him but he'd felt he needed to give her a physical representation of that.
He smiled at Monath. "You were right," he said. "Don't let it go to your head, though."

"Just so you know, I am counting this towards this turn's hatchday present, okay? I don't need anything else, you have done enough for me. Actually, enough for mine and Monath's,"Demanthra explained. She was a bit worried about price, but hopefully he will accept this as a good way to make her not worry too much about it.
I suggest you take her terms,Monath recommended to him.

Rhiyn did not agree to her terms.
“No,” he said flatly. He was going to get her a hatchday present, and Monath one as well if he could figure out a gift for the green. He shook his head at Dea. “This was a gift. Not for your hatchday. A because I love you gift.”
Rhiyn frowned towards Monath. “I won’t,” he said.

"Rhiyn, this is enough to count towards both. While I appreciate you giving me pretty things, I don't need anything but you for my nameday. Please, don't keep spending so much for me,"Demanthra pleaded.
You got to remember, sometimes just your presence is the best gift. That is all she really wants,Monath reminded.

Rhiyn didn’t agree. He took a long moment to think and then frowned. He wasn’t sure he understood. Didn’t Dea know what she was to him? He couldn’t put a price on her. He wanted to make her happy, to spoil her.
“My presence?” He echoed, looking to Monath. All Dea really wanted was to spend time with him?
“Alright. I’ll make sure your nameday is a restday,”

Rhiyn smiled. He’d ask about setting that date as a rest day soon as he could. “Alright, we’ll spend the day together,” he said. But he could still get her something small, couldn’t he? Something she could open on her nameday?
He’d have to think about it. “Can I get you something small?” He asked.

The gift would have to be small and cheap, but it would still be good. He didn’t want to get yelled at like he’d witnessed Ionan getting yelled at. Monath had a good point. “Alright,” he agreed at last. “Something small.”

She has a good point, she is pretty simple to make happy. Well, except when I am upset, but it happens sometimes,Monath admitted.

Rhiyn should’ve known. He’d known Demanthra most of his life. Flowers and other small things had always made her smile. But this gift had been different. He hadn’t just wanted to make her happy. He’d wanted to show her how he felt.
“I know, I know,” he said, looking to Monath. “That doesn’t mean I won’t spoil her some of the time.”

"Only once in awhile, I don't need you to spoil me often. Like when you want to like this necklace, that is fine. Any other time, just the simple things will brighten my day,"Demanthra assured.

She hadn’t been upset about the necklace. Once in a while was fine. Rhiyn smiled at that. That was agreeable. “Alright,” he said. Once in a while. He could live with that.
“You’ll have to help me pick her favorites,” he teased Monath.
