It should still feel strange for him to be so readily willing to pet this talking cat, as if it was a simple, base creature, with no higher intellectual processes. That's what pets were: stupid creatures who relied on their owners to feed, care for, and pet them. So it was strange to think that something as intelligent as Arthur wouldn't mind or would even want to let Nataniel drag his fingers lightly down the top of his head, toward the base of his spine... But as he made himself comfortable, that's what Nat did.
Maybe he could even get over the 'talking cat' aspect of it, if Arthur wasn't also a whole entire man. Nataniel's lips pursed into the tiniest of frowns, and his gaze flicked from the cat back toward his computer monitor. He didn't think he'd ever just sat and played a game with a pet in his lap...
His first and only pet in his years had been Dusk, and she was not a lap creature.
"No," Nataniel decided softly. He wasn't usually one to feel awkward either, but the situation seemed to lend itself to that. Though it didn't stop him from rubbing tiny circles at the base of one of Arthur's ears. "It is a lot of information, and it would be impossible to sift through all of it in one sitting. This is fine, for now."

"Okay then." He said, settling into the warmth of the other man's lap and the gentle rhythm of the fingers against his fur.
The talking "cat" went quiet, glad for a lack of talking for a bit.
