Following Shadowsong had created the same pitfall, she didn't get very far before turning around on herself. This time, at least, Fawnbriar was more focused on getting back and caught her self pretty early. Smelling the river that used to bring such comfort, the rockclan shecat picked up the pace to get back to him.
Back to what was home now.

With a burst of speed, Wildflower shot down the rest of the race way, until the distinct and unique figure of Exotichunt came clearly into view. Just feet from the cat, Wildflower called out. "Fancy meeting you here!" she laughed, bending her head down to lean into the final stretch of this direction.

Silverpaw shook her head, she wasn't a warrior but maybe.. just maybe, she could show these rockclan cats what Lightningclan could really do... she ran off, in the direction others had run towards, conserving energy but covering ground as best she could

There was the river, and on the other side her halfway mark. Fawnbriar got a little more life into her as she set her past behind her and started making for the safest crossing she knew.

Somehow this last stretch seemed to take a while? Or perhaps it was just all in her head. Taking a deep breath, Wildflower willed herself to keep going, Exotichunt just about in paw's reach. But it didn't count unless she actually got to the she cat so Wildflower trudged on.

So far she wasn't doing as well as others had so she stopped holding back everything, gave a little more and tried to go faster

It worked, she crossed and kept running not even looking for the goal cat she was supposed to pass. Did he see her? The answer in her heart was it didn't matter, there was only one cat she wanted to see and he was back at the starting line.

Ok, she wasn't moving. Had she burst her speed too hard too soon? Wildflower cursed herself and glanced down at her paws to see if anything was holding her up or if the world really was moving as slow as it had felt to her in those few instances. Glancing up she huffed. "MOVE CAT!" towards Exotichunt, as if that would let her pass.

Is it not strange, that this place had once been so different now felt like home? Even within the confines of lightingclan territory heading back to Brightstar, things felt more like home.

Seeing the cat leap out of the way was enough to cause Wildflower to get her butt into gear again. She'd at least finish the darn thing, even if it left her winded. Consider this training then she guessed. Mousedung, she really wanted to win!

she suddenly realised she hadn't even said anything to timberfall as she'd ran past, well she'd make up for that later, she could almost taste rockclan border, she was close.

Feeling somehow like she had lost all her energy, Wildflower had to take a moment to slow down. Despite her will to want to win she had to admit no good came from wearing herself down. If something really did happen out here, such as the dogs coming back, she'd be useless. So she slowed her pace a bit, allowing herself to catch her breath.
