“They don’t hate you at all.” She replied calmly. “If anything, they adore you.” Especially her mother who seemed more accepting of the proposition. Her father, Derek, was a bit rougher around the edges and although he respected Tristan it did take some time to see reason; but eventually, he came around too.
Hannah was no fool though. If she had found a female roommate they would be more accepting of her moving out on her own, and likely even help her with the process. But the only person in that she could have seen living with had walked out of her life several years ago and, though she was a different person than before, was currently living with Isaac, her cousin.
“It’s the order they believe things should be done in but that model doesn’t really fit our generation.” Housing was not really affordable, especially if you were looking for a place of your own. High rents made it difficult to pay off student debts and for many people forced them to pick and choose which bills to pay. “But this is what I want, for us.” She admitted almost shyly; a bit uneasy by her own decisive forwardness.

He smiled at that; he adored her parents as well, and in all honesty, would hate to disappoint them in any way. For this, though...he would try to convince them if Hannah hadn't yet. "Okay, then let's do some apartment hunting when we get to my place."
He gave her a little squeeze as they went, soon arriving at the correct bus stop. He dusted the snow off of the bench and sat himself down first before gently tugging her onto his lap. "So as far as telling my family, would you wanna tell 'em over dinner or just my parents for now?"

Hannah rested her head against his shoulder and leaned into his warmth. “I kind of feel like we should tell your sister first.” While they would be there together it would be a comfort knowing that Arianne was supportive of their decision; especially if the discussion turned into anything remotely close to the ‘sex before marriage’ or ‘temptation’ talk her father tried to give her. Hopefully, she could help steer the conversation away from that uncomfortable talk.

"Arianne?" he asked, clearly...well, he really shouldn't have been surprised. She was closest to that sister of his, after all, and it made sense that she wanted her support. He slipped his arms around her but nodded. "Okay, we can talk to her first if you want. My parents probably wouldn't be against us living together, but..."
Like her parents, his were still fairly old-fashioned and believed things were supposed to be done in a certain order. His second-oldest had trouble convincing them all those years ago when she wanted to move out so he imagined he'd meet a similar amount of resistance.
"Arianne's probably gonna help when it comes to convincing them. All my sisters would, by the way. They all love you, y'know."

“I know, and I love them too.” Hannah shifted so she could give Tristan a kiss on his temple.
His entire family had been very warm and welcoming of her when the two of them had first started dating. They had even gone so far as to even offer her a job working at their cafe alongside Arianne during her first few years of college. Unfortunately her chosen major had required her to quit and pick up an internship at a clinic, which was thankfully a paid position, as well as put in time at the local hospital.
After having grown up with no siblings of her own and having nothing but male cousins, Hannah had learned that she quite enjoyed the larger family settings; even if it could be a bit more chaotic at times. To actually have someone she could have ‘girl talk’ with, other than her mother or aunts, was actually really nice.
Before she could comment further, the bus they had been waiting for pulled up to the curb and opened the doors to let them on.
Hannah dug through her purse for some coins to pay for both their tickets then took a seat near the rear exit next to the frosted window. “Do you think we should stop by the store on the way to your parent's house and pick something up to go with dinner? Or desert maybe?” Even though she had been extended an invitation to join them on many occasions, it didn't quite feel right to show up without contributing to the meal in some way. Especially since this was short notice.

He smiled at the kiss and gave her a peck on the lips in turn. It had been a comforting thing to know that his family doted on her and was protective of her on his behalf while he was away. He was always grateful that they'd welcomed her with open arms, and that was something he knew he could never fully pay them back for.
Before he could comment the bus arrived and he followed her on, taking the aisle seat beside her. He automatically reached for her hand once they were settled, and he considered her question for a long moment. "We could stop by the little bakery just nearby my house and pick up some pastries if you really want to? I don't think they'd mind either way, though."

Hannah turned to glance out the window at the buildings as they passed by. While their forward momentum made it seem like the snow was falling faster, and harder, than it really was, she had to consider how volatile the weather was being as of late.
"Mmmm." She pursed her lips for a second then let out a small sigh.
"We should probably head to their house instead. Otherwise, we might risk getting stranded." Unfortunately, even with all the snow plows trying to clear the streets, there were many roads that simply got missed; especially those with hills.

He blinked at that, then glanced out the window and took note of the snow before eventually agreeing. "Sounds good to me. They won't mind, promise." He gave her hand a gentle little squeeze before turning his attention to the front of the bus. It wasn't too long of a ride, all things considered, and when their stop came he pressed the button and they got off.
The neighborhood they'd walked into was cozy and familiar and currently topped with a nice helping of snow. The roads and sidewalks, at least, were cleared off and safe to tread on, so he led the way. "So other than apartment hunt what else did you wanna do once we get home?"

“We should probably, while we’re at it, look up tickets for the ski vacation we were talking about earlier. Other than that I’m open to ideas.” Hannah was quite a simple person, it really didn’t take much to make her happy. If he was still jet lagged she would be happy enough to lay down with him for a while and take a nap. Otherwise picking a movie to watch was always a good way to relax.
“I apologize though if I nod off for a bit before dinner.” It had been a trying week so far. It felt like she barely had enough time to take a breath let alone relax for more than twenty minutes at a time before another code was called over the system. That aside, thanks to the weather, she already spent two days stuck at the hospital last week, forced to sleep on one of the gurneys because all the beds were otherwise occupied by patients, and their families, who were trapped inside due to the severe weather conditions.
"I will do my best to stay awake though" Hannah offered Tristan a rueful smile.

"Apartment and vacation, okay." He was all smiles, thinking of the plans they were setting for themselves. They were still young and they had time, but despite being together for years now most of it has been long distance because of school. Moving forward he hoped they wouldn't have to spend quite so much time apart anymore...
"After that, we can just hang out, relax together. It'll just be you and me for a while so we've got time to ourselves to just do...whatever." He waved off her apology, though, and gave her a bright smile in turn. "If you're tired you can sleep. We can even sleep together if you want. I could use a nap, too, jet lag and all."

"I think that sounds like a good idea." Hannah leaned her head against his shoulder as they continued walking down the familiar neighborhood. It would be nice to rest with his arms around her; one of the few places she ever truly felt safe.
