The Captain overseeing the fight for his subordinates' sakes from the small camp setup in a distant treetop would find himself troubled. It was already clear that the genjutsu users in the enemy force were proving to be a thorn in side of their tactics. Sadly, they'd lost too much of their tech to be able to more effectively combat the tricky ninja art of illusions and mental manipulation. Only Ghost and Brute stood much a chance against it, unfortunately. "Keeper, maintain security and assume tactical command. I'm going." His layered, silvery coat softly clanged as it dragged against the air in his hurried departure to the front lines. The barrier surrounding the hidden camp would filter Celeste's auditory genjutsu's chakra preventing it from harming the two agents that were still there. However, the other four who were involved in the engagement wouldn't be so lucky.
Edge's frown lingered as his focused blast only managed to cancel out Shouri's fiery defense. The boy was proving to be quite troublesome to deal with thanks to these illusions that seemed to pop up whenever a fire jutsu was cast. His rifle loudly hummed as he squeezed the trigger, taking steps to increase his odds for winning the next clash. A small switch was flipped with the simple flick of his thumb. Four more shots were loosed with rather poor accuracy as they would whiz past Shouri and his unleashed Great Fireball technique at Edge. It was quite possible that the shots were taken out of panicked impulse. Sure enough, the katon jutsu seemed to burst and spread all over the forest, much like before. Smoke and heat were prominent as Edge's vision was significantly obscured and the overheating sensation would again overtake him. Edge figured the katon technique was still incoming since, despite being very painful, he'd already seen this illusion before moments ago. He turned forty-five degrees away from his opponent in an attempt to brace himself with his cloak. He clenched his teeth in anticipation until a soothing voice cut through everything to incite a soothing sensation. His posture relaxed just as the four shots would turn back on a dime to strike Shouri from behind with blinding speed. Each chakra shot could inflict broken bones and muscular tearing wherever they struck with their concussive impacts. Two of which were aimed for Shouri's calves, mid back, and left shoulder. Edge fell to the ground bathing both in illusory and real flames. The insulated, flame-retardant material wouldn't burn for long given the limited strength of the Great Fireball technique. Still, Edge wouldn't be able to rejoin the fight until he cold be freed of the illusion. He writhed on the ground, choking back his agonized grunts and restrained screams. He didn't even realize that Lahlil's shadow manipulation technique would soon be upon him, and Celeste's calming technique wasn't quite strong enough to ease Edge's ongoing trial of pain.
Vane was annoyed, but unbothered by another otherwise flawless shot which was intercepted by the enemy's remarkable teamwork. Her gut feeling warned her that that very teamwork could be her and her comrades' undoing. She wished that the Captain had heeded her suggestion to pack up camp and finish moving their precious cargo sooner than later. Being so close to the unexplained cataclysm that occurred off shore in the Land of Eddies was bad enough. Regardless, her head remained in the fight right now. The man she was fighting retained his chakra aura as he confidently met her in close-quarters. He skillfully blocked her tool at the base of its blade with the back of his forearm. With his arm lowered to his side it was comforting to have one limb in check for a moment as he raised his other to direct some kind of ramshackle launcher tool at her face. A flash of light gleamed in the distance as Ghost fired an intercepting blast of chakra from a smaller projector that didn't need to recharge between shots. She'd remain downwind of the tiger to avoid his potent sense of smell as she again moved to reposition to the refugee's flank. This shot would be more than strong enough to redirect the man's aimed attack just as he fired upon Vane, most likely damage the launcher to be nearly nonfunctional and possibly even harm his arm if Vane followed up with a counterattack as intended. Everything happened so fast, but that was where their intensive training paid off. Vane had already been in the process of swiftly pivoting clockwise on her left foot away from the man's aimed launcher when Ghost's counterattack would come to her aid. The edge of her sword-like tool would be dragged down across the man's chakra-covered forearm as she pushed off to jump back away from him. This brief interaction would be enough to disintegrate the chakra's shape manipulation and ultimately get rid of the Kaiser Armor just before Ghost's shot would hit its mark, leaving him a bit more vulnerable. Vane raised her pistol-like chakra projector at him as she landed a few feet away, but was brought to pause when Celeste's song instantly clouded her will to fight with but a few sung words. Vane couldn't bring herself to squeeze the trigger and hopefully end the man there and then due to this illusion, and the encroaching shadow jutsu from Lahlil definitely put the shoe on the other foot in this situation.
Even for as far away as Ghost was, she too was caught in the web of Celeste's enchanting voice, causing her to fall short of her mark and fall into the ground far behind the trees that Karuto had just been thrown into. Luckily, she and Brute's chakra suits had special functions that were only standard issue for higher ranking officers. Ghost started to lift herself off of the ground in a half push-up position as the internal chakra filtering system kicked in. The chakra divided her way to cast the calming illusion would be converted into the suit's power supply. However, the forceful removal of chakra, even if it was foreign, was not painless to the wearer. Ghost would keep herself hidden with her still active camouflage while she recovered before rejoining the fight.
Last, but certainly not least, Brute grinned from behind the mask covering the lower half of his face as his opponent praised his attack. Even Brute knew that praise from a high-priority target like Karuto Raiken was a noteworthy honor. Obviously Karuto was far from done with their fight. It would be way too disappointing otherwise. The following insult hardly struck a nerve though. He was used to trash talking, and quite enjoyed the banter almost as much as crushing peoples' throats with his hands. "Hmph." Brute scoffed just before Karuto performed a body flicker to close the distance more quickly than his last attempted maneuver. This made it a little harder to anticipate, but reacting wasn't much of a challenge. The aerial kick was a very ballsy move for the taijutsu master to use against someone who relied on their strength over flashy skills to win a fist fight. Brute raised his arm on the same side as the incoming kick to intercept it with an intense grab, redirecting the force of the kick with his strength and the effective defensive qualities of his suit to facilitate the rest of his defensive maneuver. Brute pivoted in a tight counterclockwise turn to again throw Karuto around and away from himself. He'd take a step in Karuto's direction right after to go on the offensive again, but was brought to a firm halt due to Celeste's song. "Ergh... trickery." Brute grunted angrily in the direction of the moth woman disguised as a frail, but undeniably beautiful woman standing near Lahlil. Like Ghost, the internal chakra filtration system kicked in for Brute, but he could suffer the pain from the process with far less drawbacks than the sneaky sniper. Brute stomped his foot upon the ground, causing it to buckle under his feet. A moment later the ground beneath Lahlil and her summon would explode, releasing rocky shrapnel to bombard them if they didn't evade. Brute mostly just wanted them to butt out of his match with Karuto, but figured it was a fair attempt to break the illusionists' concentration on their genjutsu. He'd look back to Karuto, hoping they were ready to continue testing each others' strength. He was sure that his opponent was as eager to face a worthy foe as he was.

__ Shouri snapped twice and created another ring of black flame around his body. One incineration was created to bolster the other. This protected him from the four bullets that were aimed for his body. The bullets completely canceled out the double flame ring defense. He could tell that Edge was writhing in pain from his illusion of the dark and hot realm of Amaterasu. For now, he was incapacitated so Shouri would stop himself from attacking further.

tab Watching the fight move so quickly Lahlil felt her face flush with an uncharacteristic anger. The attack levied at her she could handle but she had dedicated herself towards wanting to protect these survivors of her home and now someone else was trying to take that away in the same day? Not only that, but she had wanted to protect Shouri from things in the way no one had for her and hell be damned if some strangers took that away here.
As if responding solely to her emotions Lahlil’s sage mode was already active around her, twisting her visage into a demonic bat-human hybrid. Tapping into the connection that her and Celeste shared the two of them vanished from the attack in an instant in a swarm of bats scattering. Both of which reappearing on either side of the field. The cloak of Lahlil's Nara shadows dissipating due to her forced movement, though that didn’t stop Celeste’s own anger at the Brute’s breaking of her genjutsu. It was clear that the loss of a plaything left her struggling to coup with her own vexation. With a pouty tone of voice the mothly-woman revealed herself from the cloak of the illusion and tried once again to seduce him. “Hey… what’s the matter? Don’t you want to have some fun with meee~ “

Kazuto's arm was knocked back when the sniper round destroyed his device. As his arm pulled back he felt the sword user motion ever so slightly to deliver their own attack. To counteract this, Byakko used the momentum of his arm moving back to rotate in that direction. He lowered himself to the ground in order to sweep at the target's legs. Of course the enemy leaped back as he did so, which made his attack missed. When the gun started to gather chakra Byakko knew that he was trapped. He was already lowered to the ground and his leg was extended for the kick. However, it was then that the genjutsu of the bat siren infiltrated the opponent's chakra network. The man let out a smirk as he felt the opponent afflicted. 'Lady luck is one beautiful girl.' He thought as his body pushed off of the ground in a leap. With the momentum of the push Byakko performed a rotating heel kick. Should the attack collide then the woman would be disarmed of all technology and weaponry she had. Byakko personally had no idea how such a thing would occur, but since it detailed it in the scroll which he read, he assumed that it was a thing which would occur.
Meanwhile, the tiger was able to pick up the residue of the rifle when it was used to snipe out his human half. Despite her being downwind the faint trail of residue would not be masked. This allowed the tiger to push off of the tree and make his way back on the ground. As the tiger blended into the forest and trees, he used his animal skills to determine where the elusive entity was. Once his oracle sense detected the camouflage technology around her, the tiger pounced. His awakened godlihood manifested in an aura of human sage chakra. This allowed the tiger to move faster and more efficiently as it went to claw apart Ghost into ribbons.

This brute may have thought he had sent Karuto flying, but in reality the second he let go of the Raiken and turned to check out his new attacker, Karuto had kicked the air with such force that he had been able to almost step off of the created pocket. He propeled himself back and straight towards the dude, flying forward with his arm cocked back "ARGGHHH!" He called out as he let a powerful punch fly forward at the man's chest. More then that, this blow was augmented by thousands of hours of training, learning and growing in his taijutsu. It held a good bit, albeit not all of, his martial prowess. The punch blastwave created by the technique would cause a sonic boom- easily drowning out any other noise in the battle. Anything standing in front of it, not to say hit by it, would be seriously hurt

Ghost only managed to gasp and glance back over her shoulder at the massive beast that had tracked her down again. She realized too late that it clearly wasn't relying only on physical senses to track her; it was either that or the beast was far more in tune with them than others of its species. Regardless, just as the tiger came so very near a man wearing a long silvery trench coat with a lapel which covered much of his face appeared between them. His hat, reminiscent of something between a naval head adornment and a cowboy hat, concealed the rest of his identity. The divine feline's claws were faced with unerring resistance from the interloper's raised guard and a powerful rising kick would send Byakko sliding back several feet if it connected. "C-Commander!?" Ghost exclaimed in surprise at her leader's arrival to her aid. Others were in just as much of a pinch at the moment. "You did well, Ghost. Bravo. Go assist the others. I'll be there soon." He complimented her and fell into a defensive stance for the tiger's next inevitable attack. "Understood." Ghost retained her invisibility as she body flickered away to reposition for her next attack on the intruders.
Edge remained quite incapacitated under Shouri's illusory spell, and Vane found herself in the midst of a impressively well-timed attack from her own opponent. The incoming heel struck Vane with impressive accuracy and effectiveness, sending her rolling back and her weapons bouncing and clattering away in opposite directions. Vane's power suit served its purpose well to greatly decrease the damage suffered from the powerful attack, but that didn't completely prevent injury. After a few rolls she somewhat clumsily flipped back onto her feet toward the sword which happened to be nearer and would retrieve it with utmost haste. She fell into a defensive stance as she slowly moved toward the other weapon, ready to intercept Kazuto if he made any sudden moves. Brute was amused with the clashing he could have with Karuto up until the moth-woman's voice sunk into his mind once again. Her relentless hypnotism was a perfect chance for Karuto's excellently executed counterattack. The large man leaped off of the air and unleashed an astoundingly powerful strike against Brute in his power suit. The Oblivion Fist struck him in all it's honed, glorious might and Karuto large foe was carried away the booming blast of force that ensued.
Then... everything just seemed to stop. Well... only the divine tiger, Byakko, would notice since he was the only one unhindered by the most basic of another deity's power. A man walked out from behind some trees adjacent to where Byakko and the enemy commander were beginning to do battle. "I apologize for my interference, oh majestic Byakko, but time is short." The man's bright, glowing golden eyes shifted about as if to verify something before he brushed his tied long black hair back behind himself off of his shoulder. "I will remove these obstacles if you will head to where their encampment will no longer be and retrieve something very important. I entrust it to you, regardless of how you might use it." The man did not introduce himself and did not expect the minor god to recognize him. However, it would not take much of an educated guess to determine the interloper's identity. Rather than wait for Byakko reply or approval, the man proceeded with his intentions. With greater exertion, even Byakko would miss what happened. Not even a fraction of a second would pass as far as any of the other mortals were concerned, but all of their foes and all of those enemies' belongings were gone from this forest. The sensory abilities available to them would quickly confirm that no threat remained in this location whatsoever. However, it also wouldn't take much to notice the auspicious object lingering not far from where they all were. Such was the important something that was entrusted to Byakko. Now the refugees had one less thing to immediately concern themselves with and could proceed to build their new home or... hopefully assist in the fight against the chaos ensuing in the neighboring Land of Floods. Only time would tell...

__ Shouri managed to keep Edge subdued for long enough with his genjutsu. Suddenly, time stopped around them and a man appeared. "Damn it damn it damn it, I'm seeing things again." When all of the enemies and their weapons disappeared he knew that he must be losing it. The man spoke but in a way that he did not understand. Once he disappeared Shouri sank to his knees before sitting back and covering his face. He continuously slapped himself back into reality only to find that his surroundings were the same. He breathed in deeply and then sighed to calm down before looking up at Lahlil from the ground. "Was that real?" Shouri asked his new friend with innocent helplessness.

tab Stopping mid cast of her jutsu Lahlil stood dumbfounded as her enemy vanished from sight, not just hers either as her sight revealed that the others of his group been removed as well. For the first time in almost three years Lahlil found herself echoing the same question as Shouri, and to be honest? She didn’t have an answer. The anxiety brought on by the situation started to make her head swim and her form falter but for a moment before she casted the inflicted emotions genjutsu on herself again to steady herself. It was only for the briefest of seconds, but a sharp eye would catch as Lahlil fell and then took a step forward almost as if she tripped. The rest of it was disguised as the young woman moving to help her ward to get back on his feet. “I’m not sure but I-“ Like a runner getting a fresh breath of air after miles of jogging, Lahlil felt the sudden burst of knowledge as one of her clones sacrificed itself. “Oh… no.” Finishing pulling Shouri up into her arms to steady him, she turned back over to Karuto. “Arashigakure just called for aid against the same people who killed Chie.” As much as she wanted the news to be a sad joke the seriousness of her tone clearly displayed her certainty, and a look shared between the two ninja would be all that needed to be said. They were going to help.“We need to get back to Takijinsei. They left a portal open there for us to teleport there if we’re fast... would you.. help me Karuto?” The question felt selfish and she had felt weaker needing help but she couldn't take revenge herself when so many others needed her. "There's still people who need my help. Would you help avenge Chie?" Running on adrenaline and genjutsu was the only thing that saved her from the embarrassment of making such a request.
From the shadows there was a rumbling of a large beast. For a moment Lahlil thought that the fight might not be over but relaxed when she found it only to be belonging to Esmeralde. The fruit bat solemnly trudged its way to her feet, it’s house sized body only making the movements clumsy. In her mouth she carried the shibuki and an understanding passed between them. Another causality to make note of. Leaving the drool covered weapon where it was, Lahlil climbed on the back of the beast for quick transport back to the pseudo-village. “You’re all welcome to climb aboard if you like. I promise the flight will… well you’ll get used to it.”

__ When Lahlil helped him up and echoed how unsure she was at the situation as well he felt further panicked. The rush of uncertainty was slamming into his head over and over. When she grabbed his arms he would stand up for fumbling. He tripped forward more deeply into her arms before catching himself. He was in her full embrace which comforted him in his panic. In a moment he stood up fully and let go of her before stepping back to give her more personal space. His cheeks were slightly reddened in embarrassment. "Hey, uh, sorry." Shouri apologized for being so clumsy and a complete shattered mess. Once he regained full control of himself he pulled his mind out of the dark abyss of panic. In his embarrassment, he rubbed his eyes with one hand before "toughening up" and adopting a gruff tone. "Yeah, let's go kick their asses..." It was comical how quickly his personality shifted for the sake of saving face. Shouri then jumped aboard the bat and would leave the area with Lahlil and anyone else. All the while, Shouri just tried to silence his worries and keep it together so that he would not be a burden on his comrades.

The tiger growled in pain when the attack caused him to fly back. He landed on his feet and skirted along the ground when his feral eyes caught sight of the man. Yellow eyes glared at him as he readied for the next attack. However, before he moved, a familiar force overwhelmed him. He was not staring down some mere mortal too cocky to bow to divinity. This was a monster; a god of a much higher tier. When everyone else was frozen only Kazuto and Byakko were aware. The man's words pierced through the genjutsu which the human side of Byakko endured. Being the first words he heard in a hot minute, they immediately shocked and confused him. However, as the moment faded, Byakko's oracle sensory did not detect the beautiful woman he was fighting against. His kai was activated and his eyes confirmed that the person he was facing had disappeared.
In typical mortal fashion, the group of humans wanted to move onto their next project without finishing the task at hand. Lalhil offered him a ride back to their location as though they were allies. This warmed the man at his core, but the man's words left a lingering hunger within him. His eyes, along with the tigers, rested on the spot where their strange adversary once resided. Taking only a moment to look back, he flashed a smile. "I think your people need their leader, Lady Lalhil. Mr. Snuggles and I will survey the area and make sure that the threats which attacked us are no longer a thing. We'll make sure to bring back anything shiny or fancy that we find, bodies included." He said with a wink. The tiger snarled as he went back into the woods. The animal was using his sense of smell, and was able to deduce a track back to the enemy's encampment. Kazuto's oracle sense would be able to follow his tiger behind, and the two could easily find the source of the attack while the others did the heroics.
When the dust cleared, Karuto was left holding a punch outstretched. A red splatter was all that was left of the man who had been standing there just moments ago. The body, or rather what was left of it, had been blown back hundreds of yards through the forest by the strength of his punch. Yet, despite the actual murder he had just committed, Karuto held a delighted grin on his face and softly, ever so softly, spoke: "Good fight, dude"
As the participants wound up their individual skirmishes, Karuto made his way to Lahlil's side as per usual and was thus one of the first to notice her odd behavior. He had seen such acts of weirdness before with her and was even going to ask her if she was feeling well when the girl suddenly told him.

Oh yeah, baby. It was go time! The passion, the excitement- it was all right there for the world to see. Karuto grinned like a kid on the way to McDonalds and smacked his fist into his open palm. He was so excited he almost didn't hear Lahlil's next words. There was a portal to the fight nearby and...and...and she was asking him to go? To help her? His grin seemed to noticeably widen at the prospect. Clapping her on the shoulder with one hand, he slapped his muscular chest with the other, resulting in a sound akin to a gunshot "Lahlil, baby, I would be happy to" And so, joined the kage-but-not-kage on her giant bat and summarily took to the skies
