A shadowy figure slowly creaps up holding a box carefully in there hands.
Placing it down on the door step they ring the bell before running off.

The box moves slightly side to side. Something must be inside do you dare open it?

What Contest are you entering? NEWBIE
Character Name: Crevan Lee Moore
Character Appearance: Crevan is very slight, and although he doesn't look unhealthy, he does look as though he could eat a bit more. His red hair is short, and always seems to be extremely messy. Crevan also has brilliant green eyes, which normally hide behind a pair of 'emo' glasses. Despite his delicate appearance, Crevan's body has hints of muscle that he has worked hard to develop. Upon arriving, Crevan wears a sky blue sweater and a pair of auburn pants. An ochre coat is worn over this, as well of a pair of fine charcoal boots on his feet. Around his neck is a ruby pendant which he never removes, and Leil seems to be eternally perched on either his head or shoulder.
Example Art/Photos- By Dark_Musashi, By Malhyanth, Fennec Fox/Leil, Leil 2, Leil 3
Character Personality: Crevan is intellectual, but also eccentric. He's always willing to make a friend, and yearns for acceptance, due to being shunned for his eccentric ways as a child. Because of this, however, he could easily end up hanging out with the 'wrong' crowd. He can be quite shy, or sometimes even not know when to stop talking. Both are qualities that can sometimes affect his friendships. Crevan is both reserved and outgoing, and he prefers being outdoors. He dislikes crowded areas and will avoid them at all costs, although that normally doesn't stop him from making friends.
Character Background: Crevan was born to a young Irish couple that had just moved to the states. The couple was fairly well-off, and adored their son. He was very hyperactive when he was young, but his parents didn't mind it so much. But when Crevan started schooling, he began to have problems. He was intelligent, but he couldn't sit still for long. He hummed to himself in school, and his teachers quickly became frustrated with him. The first thing they did was to blame his parents, claiming that they hadn't disciplined their son enough. They were apalled, to say the least. After a lot of work with the school, it was decided that the system would pay for a psychological, after having talked to the parents about Crevan's earlier years. Going into First Grade, Crevan was diagnosed with ADHD and put on Ridilin. But it was always suspected that there was something else about Crevan that was... Different... Just as Crevan was turning 9, his father was hospitalized. He passed away later that year, though no doctors could figure out exactly what had ailed him. Crevan was devastated, and fell into a deep depression. His mother sensed his trouble, and quickly made an appointment with a counselor. The boy's mood lifted slightly, and he seemed to be recovering. He continued to see his counselor. But things changed when he enterred Junior High. Crevan was bullied, but he hid it from both his mother and his counselor. His mom was struggling to support him, and he knew that if he told his counselor, that the information would be given to his mom. Crevan had always seen the bullying as no big deal, sure he'd been shoved around, but the worst he'd ever gotten were a few bruises. He'd always just laughed it off, not letting it bother him. But apparantly, his bullies didn't like that. Things began to escalate to the point where he was beginning to have trouble keeping things secret. When asked about a busted lip, he said he'd only fallen. Nothing was thought of it, since he was somewhat of a klutz. But at the end of 8th Grade, his entire world was shattered. He was assaulted by a small group of his classmates. They thrashed him, mocking him the entire time. All Crevan truly remembers of the incident is the last few moments, his memory ends after a single gunshot. He woke up in the hospital, and was told that he'd been saved by another classmate. The boy visited him daily while he was recovering, and Crevan quickly befriended him. Bryce became his first true friend, but it didn't take long for their friendship to develop into something deeper. When Crevan first referred to Bryce as his boyfriend in front of his mother, she dragged him home. Crevan was told that homosexuality was wrong, that a man should only love a woman. It was the first time he'd ever fought with his mother, and it was something that neither of them ever recovered from. Crevan began seeing Bryce in secret, and refused to speak to his mother for almost a week. She was troubled, and began to think that his medication had caused odd symptoms. When they began switching around his meds, Crevan's health deteriorated. After seeing a variety of doctors, it was suggested that his psychological get renewed. He was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome at the start of his Junior year, and began taking Luvox and Melatonin. Crevan's relationship with Bryce fell apart that year. Depression gripped him, his grades fell, and he became very sick. His symptoms mirrored what had hospitalized his father, and it wasn't long before he had to be hospitalized again. His doctor, a young man by the name of Aaron, cared for him very well and talked to Crevan when he was lonely. It was through Aaron that Crevan discovered Wicca. The religion fascinated him, and it wasn't long before he dedicated himself to the Craft. He knew how his mother would react if she ever found out, and he did everything he could to hide it from her. He would tell her once he graduated. But revealing it to her was a mistake. She practically disowned him, and Crevan struggled to establish himself in the world. It took some time, but he finally found steady work as an editor for the local paper. It was there that he first discovered a passion for writing, and it wasn't long before his first book was published. Crevan now has steady work as both an editor and author. Even though he isn't a 'famous' author, he is relatively well-known among fantasy lovers, and also among lovers of lycanthrope horror.
How does your Character get to/why was your character chosen for the Island? Crevan arrived at the island through a feat of deception. He was put under the impression that he signed up for a medical study on the side effects of living with exotic pets. He felt that he was the perfect person for this, since he has had Leil, his Fennec Fox, for nearly 5 years. This faux study had some truth to it, as Crevan would indeed be living with exotic animals. Supposedly, all the people who signed up were going to be transported exclusively to an island where they could live in isolation, to cancel out any possible factors that might come with living in their 'natural' environment. One of the main reasons Crevan was chosen was because of his medical history. Moreau is interested to see if the transformation will have any effect on Crevan's mental disorders, and how they might affect his reaction to the transformation.
What Animal Serum do you want?: Serum 54mcccb (Maned Wolf)
Describe your ideal 100% appearance: After his transformation, Crevan would ideally be a very slender, anthromorphic Maned Wolf. He would most likely have a lean build, with long limbs; overall he appears to have a build fit for a runner. He has golden eyes, and his hair has lengthened to shoulder length. The roots are black, but the color shifts back to its origional brilliant red, before turning a light golden at the tips. Most of the time, Crevan would braid his hair for convenience, and he would rather go nude than in clothes. He would usually go 'skyclad' around his home, and once he becomes covered in fur, he prefers to wear nothing. He dislikes the way cloth rubs against his fur, but if he does wear anything, it is usually a pair of relatively loose-fitting satin shorts.
Example Photo- Maned Wolf
Why this animal/plant for your character?: The fact that Crevan is changing into a Maned Wolf is a huge pun on both of his names and his interests. His given name means "majestic fox" which is ironic because of the fact that the Maned Wolf is commonly described as a fox on stilts. His Wiccan name, Bryce Phelan, means "swift wolf" and is also ironic due to the fact of the name of the creature he is changing into. A Lycanthrope is basically a werewolf. The irony in all of this is that he is essentially becoming what he has written about for years. And the Maned Wolf isn't even a true wolf! It is a canine, but isn't classified with wolves.
What do you think really makes this concept? As a writer, Crevan always aspired to convince his reader's that the unimaginable was theoretically possible. His stories of lycanthropy always seemed so convincing, and a few of them even involved the possibility of genetic manipulation. The sheer irony that he will be changing into a wolf will make playing him interesting, and imagine his reaction when he realizes that he'd even written about what's happening to him! Another thing is his religion. It seems that there are quite a few Christians on the island, and Crevan's interaction with them would likely be strained. Generally, he would be a unique character, and the fact that he's bringing his pet with him is probably one of the most interesting things. Most Americans have pets, but so far only one brought their's to the island. Since he had gotten to the island through a supposed medical study involving exotic pets, it's only natural that his pet should travel with him.
PROMPT: B

Prompt Response
Crevan had enjoyed the silence of the ride to the island, it gave him time to read a bit more of Blood of the Wolf. It wasn't his favorite novel, but it had a certain addictive nature that kept him attached to the book, his mind absorbing the paragraphs of text that formed horrific pictures in his mind. Despite the horrors, it was a way for the Wiccan to unwind and draw himself into a seperate world where anything was possible.

Unfortunately, Leil didn't enjoy the ride quite as much as his master, due to the fact that he was confined to a pet crate. The Fennec whined pathetically, pacing around in circles inside the small green crate. The whining caused his Master to give an amused chuckle, and after a moment, he closed his book and poked a finger through one of the vents in the side of the cage. The Fennec gave a happy yip, and quickly nuzzled up against the slender digit offered to him.

But as the island appeared on the horizon, Crevan grinned and pressed his face against a window. He'd never even been out of the US before, so this was something he'd never experienced before.

"Leil, look. That's where we'll be living for the next month!"

It was only then that James broke the silence that hung in the air of the Chopper. In a rare moment of conscience, the pilot revealed everything about the island - including what was in store for Crevan. He continued to say that he couldn't take Crevan back for the sake of his family, but couldn't bring yet another person to their unwitting doom.

Crevan paled, and his eyes went wide. He didn't even realize that they were about to land, nor did he see the white-haired man awaiting him near the landing site. His mind was racing, but he couldn't seem to pin a single thought down long enough to register it. It seemed that every time he thought he had something, it would slip from his grasp.

Unfortunately for him, the helicopter landed not long after, and Crevan was quickly ushered out of it. Even as the white-hared man, who had identified himself as Sabin, was greeting the author, Crevan was struggling to comprehend what he'd just been told. The red-head grimaced, clutched at the ruby pendant that hung around his neck, and took a deep breath in a desperate attempt to clear his mind. It took a few more seconds, but in the end he seemed to come to.

The initial shock had caused panic to rise up in his gut, but after taking a few moments to think the situation through, he quickly came to terms with it. Truthfully, becoming an animal would be... Interesting.

Meh heh, I have it too. All I got was a crappy information packet that left me more confused than I was was before. So I just threw the thing away and went on with my friendless life. But I don't think it's a permanent affliction. I mean, I'm fine now. So maybe it wears off after a while.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 25, 2006 12:16 pm

No, I'm pretty sure it's permanent. You probably just learned what comes naturally to most other people. My personal theory is that it's an inherited trait, specifically an X-linked gene, which is why men have it more often than woman.

That would make sense, it's how hemophilia is inherited as well, isn't it? But by permanant affliction, I may have meant that after a while it's hard to tell it's even there anymore. But I can't remember, it was a while ago.
