Veritas was still trying to make sense of everything, his mind sluggishly putting the pieces together.
He, Veritas, was a senshi. And so was his boyfriend, who had only been his boyfriend for just barely more than a day and who he as a civilian was head over heels smitten for. He wasn't a Negaverse agent, or a anything bad, he was just....Ellis.
And a senshi.
The kiss to his cheek made him jolt out of his thoughts, but it was Ellis taking his hand that had Veritas stumbling after him, surprise written all over his face. He let himself be dragged back around to the safety of the dark area behind the bar, Veritas resisting the urge to make a noise of protest as Ellis' fingers fell away from his.
But that wasn't the point of coming back here. The point was this: a flash of colorful light, the points of a thousand glittering stars that were sinking into Ellis' skin It was such a familiar routine to Veritas at this point, but it felt almost surreal watching someone he knew go through the transformation. It was one thing to go through it himself, another entirely to watch the glamour begin to take hold.
And then it was all over and what was left was a senshi. Veritas was still staring, his lips slightly parted, and his gaze flickered over the other, trailing down from the red hair to the muted, green and mauve uniform, to the little smile tugging at his lips that was a little hesitant and maybe a little uncertain, but still there.
Veritas closed his mouth. He took a step forward and put his hand in Ell - no, Sadr's, fingers closing together, and gave it a little shake.
"Veritas," he said, with a twitch of his own lips, feeling the relief and the connection between them solidifying in his veins. "Senshi of Forests."
He didn't let go of Sadr's hand. Veritas took another step closer, his gaze still roaming over his boyfriend's uniform as his hand lowered, shifting positions, so that instead his fingers were tangling together with Sadr's, warm and affectionate, palm pressed to palm, He reached up with his free hand and ran a finger over the tie on Sadr's neck.
"A senshi," Veritas repeated. "My boyfriend's a senshi."
His fingers curled around the tie and gave a little playful tug, Veritas' gaze flickering up to Sadr's face, eyes alight with amusement.
"A very pretty senshi," he said teasingly. "Jeez. I had no idea."

The shake made him laugh again, too pleased that Veritas was playing at his little game. "Oh, Forests?" bright brows arched up at it and he couldn't help his smile, "so which of us is really the wood nymph, then?" This last, dark, terrifying secret was out in the open between them and there was nothing left that might shock or scare or hurt the other person, at least so far as he could imagine. It was just Noah and Ellis, Veritas and Sadr, in this together. What could separate them, like this? Nothing. Even if he was the most avoidant senshi in the whole universe, if he needed to be there for Veritas, he could be. If something was wrong, one of them could handle it; for the first time since that silly cat had popped out of nowhere and completely dumbfounded him, he was beginning too feel like it wasn't just a curse. This was just one more thing he could share with Noah. "Heeeey," he whined, playfully, feeling himself tugged forward by the grip on his tie. He was smiling though, flushing even with the little compliment. Bare fingers curled tighter around Veritas' and his clothed palm slid against his warm skin of his lover's hand, anchoring himself at that point. "Well, that's the point isn't it? We're not really supposed to be telling people." A brow rose and his free hand poked gently against the brunette's abdomen, accusing. "But I guess now... you know. Which is kind of nice, well, it's really nice. I've never told anyone and I haven't really met anyone, so I don't know anything about any of this.." His words began to rush together and he trailed off as he realized it, chewing at the inside of his cheek. "I mean, it's nice to have someone that gets this. That's all."

"You," said Veritas instantly, a grin forming on his face. "Definitely, one hundred percent you. It just happened to work out in my favor that I happen to be a forest senshi and you're a wood nymph. See? Doesn't it work out so great? It's like fate handed you to me and said here's the perfect boy for you to try and woo with your admittedly fantastic charms."
There was something liberating about not having to worry about this secret anymore; to know that it was out in the open, nothing hidden between them. This was possibly the most important thing that could have either separated or destroyed them, and yet - it was okay. Everything was okay.
Everything was definitely, definitely okay.
Veritas wrapped his hand around the tie, which was, privately a very nice distraction and gave him some very inappropriate ideas at a very inappropriate time to get ideas. He hastily pushed those ideas away and rested his hand against Sadr's chest, fingers still holding the piece of fabric between them as Sadr prodded his stomach.
"I know, I know." Veritas grimaced. "I hadn't...planned on just blurting it out like that, I swear. That was just me panicking. I'm usually pretty good about s**t, but you were in trouble, so I just sorta..." He waved his free hand before letting it come to rest on Sadr's hip. "Well, anyway, if it makes you feel any better, I've been a senshi for a year and still have no idea what I'm doing. I know a few people, but not really very many at all enough to be helpful."
Veritas watched Sadr thinking, then gave his hip a little squeeze. "Hey. Yeah. I get it. Doesn't this just mean we're in this together? You don't have to do anything alone anymore, I've got your back, and you've got mine."

"A wood nymph to keep in your forests?" It made him smile, both the idea of it and Noah's ridiculous, peppy charm. It really was fantastic, how simple and easy it was for him to fill Ellis' head with pleasant, warm thoughts, but he wasn't going to tell him that. Noah didn't need to tell him that because this perfect, adoring man seemed to already know. He was already reading Ellis like a book. A single brow rose as he tugged on his tie again, but he stepped closer for it, until they were just inches apart. Bot of his hands slid up his chest, feeling for the familiar body beneath it, then up and around his shoulders so he could pull himself closer. "Well, if it makes you feel any better, I probably would have done that too. For you, I mean. Not that you probably even need it." Rambling. He smiled, awkwardly, and dropped his eyes as that same tell-tale blush rose to his cheeks. It was harder to see in the dark of the alley, but it was there, like a rose on his pale skin. Then his fingers were reassuring, squeezing his hip like he had done it a thousand times, and he brought his bright eyes back up to meet Noah's. "Yeah, it's funny how you just showed up in my life and suddenly it's like..." He paused, chewing on his bottom lip. Was all of this too much? He didn't know. He didn't have anything else to judge it by because this was a first for him in so many ways. "It's like I've got someone by my side, always. No matter where I'm going or what I'm doing." Even when Noah wasn't there, it felt like he was held steady by the invisible tether that linked them now. "Thanks," he whispered, at last, trying to dampen the stupid smile on his face, "for giving me that."

Veritas' grin widened. "I mean, that's not a bad option," he said. "You're the nymph to my forest, and I'm the forest to your nymph. You belong with me and I belong with you; they go hand in hand, don't they? It's perfect," he added, with a theatrical sigh, as though he was describing a scene from a book. "The wood nymph and the keeper of the forests."
Come to think of it, it really did make sense on a level Veritas hadn't considered before. It was as though the universe had decided to present him with this gift of a perfect human being and told him to go and find it, and so here they were, and Veritas had found him. And, now that he had found him, he wasn't letting go anytime soon.
Sadr's hands were on his chest, moving gently, and then they were around his shoulders, Veritas moving closer, stepping into the embrace. He loved that they were the same height; it made it so much easier to look at him, to lean into that touch, the hand on Sadr's hip holding a little steadier.
"My knight in shining armor," Veritas said, voice a little teasing, because he could see Sadr blushing, could see how uncertain he was about this. "I have no doubt you could save my a** if you wanted to. And no skeezeball is gonna touch you as long as you're my boyfriend," he added, his hand tightening on Sadr's hip in a reassuring squeeze. "I'll kick their a**."
The hand around his tie held on a little tighter. Veritas felt his chest tighten at the words, his heartbeat in his throat, and he stepped closer, letting go of his tie so that he could slide one arm around Sad'rs back. His other hand rose, gently touching his chin, tilting his head up so that Veritas could look at him, green eyes meeting baby blues.
"Hey," he said softly. "Listen. I'm here for you, okay? And you're right - I'm right here with you. I've got you. You're not gonna be alone ever again."
His hand dropped away, both linking at the small of Sadr's back, pulling him against him. Veritas leaned forward, and his forehead came to rest against Sadr's, his chest still feeling oddly tight.
"You're worth it," he said quietly. "And I hope you know - it's the same for me too. Knowing I've got you in my life and in my corner looking out for me is the best thing that's ever happened to me."

Sadr smiled as his boyfriend leaned his forehead into his own. There was nothing but the two of them and, in the distance, the gentle sounds of the city cars like a rush of wind. It was calming and perfect, even if it had been terrifying before he saw him, before he knew it was him behind that glamour. He tightened his arms around his neck and tilted his chin so that he could press a gentle, lingering kiss on his lips. When he pulled away, the fear and worry had all but passed, and nothing was left but the shy smile that Ellis always wore for him. "Come on," he mumbled, trailing his hands down Veritas' chest slowly in a lingering, adoring touch. Down, over his hands, until he could press the flat of his gloves back into his palm and lace their fingers together. In a breath, he let his magic go, and it was just Ellis there - bright-eyed, awed, adoring Ellis. "Let's go home."
