GREY xxxxx
Okay... now she was certain coming to the city was a mistake. Lightning crashes, random strangers, and now being groped up by an oversized monkey? The feel of the man's furry arm gliding around her waist sent a chill down Grey's back, sending her tail into an upright position. Then, almost without missing a beat, Grey swiveled her body away from Sundance's embrace, twirling around to uncoil his arm from around her. "N...No!" the firsts words she had spoken in what felt like months weakly rasped from her throat.

Grey shifted the bag of food in her hands over to sit solely in her bandaged arm as her now free one reached back towards the blades sheathed along the small of her back, but stopped just shy of grabbing the hilt. Alarm bells rang out in the girl's head as she searched for an out. Sjhe wanted to draw steel on the crowd and every fiber of her being agreed, but she couldnt. To do so would draw even more unwanted attention, possibly that from the guards. She was already in the city illegally; the last thing she needed to do was add assault charges to trespassing. Still, with her back to a literal wall, what could she do?

[x] Again that sense of foreboding struck, especially when the man thrust forward his spear and called out an unfamiliar phrase. That gave me the opportunity I needed to drop out of the air, aiming downward instead of forwards until my feet and right hand hit the ground, bracing against the fall. As I touched the ground spikes made of stone shot over my head, narrowly missing me as I reached where Junan had been standing a moment before. In the same moment, I used my free hand to make a hand seal, pushing my legs up and over the rest of my body. I activated the chakra I gathered and the vanished from the eyes of anyone watching, before the tendrils of water could strike me.

While his reaction speed was impressive, my opponent was much slower than he had been in the past. As was I, but I felt I could still move faster. That meant he had to think ahead, which was better than I was doing in that moment. He managed to stay one step ahead, and I could feel my cold hatred beginning to simmer with anger. Though I was vaguely surprised he hadn't cast his ice techniques he'd used so often in the past. But with everything that had changed about us after centuries of sleep, I dismissed it as he had simply lost those abilities for the time being.

Shunshin was always disorienting, but Jack's Scattering of Ash was fresher still in my mind and far worse that the shinobi's go-to teleportation technique. At that, it wasn't technically teleportation but a high speed movement that placed me once more above and behind my target. Gritting my teeth, I finished my flip and swung my leg around diagonally into the man's shoulder-neck area. Leg slightly bent, if it hit, it would essentially clothesline him from the side and knock him off his perch. Should my attack be successful or not, I prepared myself to once more launch after him, regardless of the direction he went.

Sundance's peace was interuptted when his consort so rudely shoved him away! Oh the audacity to throw egg on his face in such a public manner! Backing up with his hands in the air the monkey mimicked in other voice much lower than his own. "Cute face ya got there!" To which he replied in his own voice. "Hey! Who did that?!" Before turning back from the imaginary crowd. "Haha nah it was just me. Sorry about that love cross my heart I am! I just thought you were someone else I knew. If there's anything I can do to make up for the scare..? Oh I know!" Rummaging around in his tiny fanny pack Sundance pulled a four delicious little cookies, some in the shape of trees and others in the form of some fat red man. "I got plenty of tasty treats here if you want him? Some other stuff too but most of that is trash."

Oh yeah there's a fight going on isn't there? Looking over in the middle of his pleasantries Sundance found Oragor doing fairly well though the boy had managed to get in his face once again. Huh I wounder if I should do anything.. Oh I know! "Oragor Oragor he's our man! If he can't do it nobody can!"

I back away from the kid and the stall, cause apparently I managed to piss someone off. Then I hear voices, the Pineapple I guess, communing with others and then lightning. Then all hell breaks loose.

I think I see Shadow over yonder, about to attack the kage?! I try to move, only to find myself unable to move. I struggle, watching as Shadow and Lord Oragor as they fight.

As the fight moves on and things continue, I manage to force myself forward. I lunge towards the fight and, seemingly out of nowhere, Shadow disappears, only to reappear behind and above the Kokorokage.

"I hope I don't regret this." I mutter as I form some hand seals and launch myself once more into the air, aiming to put tackle Shadow and hopefully get him to stop. As I fly towards him, I shout "Shadow! Get away from Lord Oragor!

🌴"Cold: the air and water flowing, Hard: the land we call our home,Push to keep the dark from coming, Feel the weight of what we owe"🌴

Trying to receive the aid of Baranara Sundance would, unfortunately, find the Baranara he was speaking to puffed into smoke as it had its arm pointing in a particular direction. You see while this whole situation unfurled at the first crack of lightening the consul of war had begun to engage in precautionary measures. Those measures, of course, was the evacuation of individuals who weren't particularly keen to combat. Minimizing casualties in hazardous situations was one of the most important things to do as those who don't fight contribute in their own special ways that often quintessential to maintaining a tribe. A medicine man, a palm weaver, a hut builder etc. He was only one man so as a result, he did what was required. He began gathering enlisting and directing mist wraiths dumbfounded to start clearing the market district. This was no place for a fight. This was the worst place for a fight, second only to the agricultural sector. The people whom stared at the black haired boys opposition of their leader, their kage, they would have to remain awestruck if they were too enamored to listen to the now organized group of authorities.

It was here thusly now, the fight that unfurled was going unnoticed. That was until a loud shouting brought the situation to his attention finally. The dense headed consul would hear for the most part "GET AWAY FROM LORD ORAGOR!" This was loud enough that the man could finally connect what it was that was occurring. Oragor was fighting. Fighting something or a someone by the namesake Shadow. Those that needed to be vacated were being vacated by the wraiths whom he'd snapped into reality. When he finally got to the scene. "NO MORE! IT OVER!" The ground began to shake beneath Oragor and Shadow. A bulb of something seemed to sprout between them. It was in this that what was to happen could be determined easily. Something big was about to come out.

In that moment of realization, a large bamboo trunk would erupt from beneath Oragor's feet on an ascent that would connect with shadow if neither of the two separated themselves from one another. It would also, unfortunately, also serve to comically rise in a manner that would be cutting off Kokuei's put Tackle which would cause the thing to shake and make a boyyoiyoing sound if he'd connected. Standing several feet high and wide it could be compared to a palm tree's trunk in the middle of the market square. Onlooker's dispersed as the gathered Mist Wraiths replaced them in their circle. Baranara parting them only to be un the other end. Shadow would both be surrounded and pincered. Surrounded by the villages guards now, and pincered by this new muscular face and the man he deemed a villian but this 'tribe' deemed a hero.

"Be standing down now outsider! Less you incur wrath of village as whole!" Baranara's addition suddenly removed some remaining spectators from the daze they were in. Cries of 'Yeah' and 'You wanna die!' with various other verbal assaults were being directed at Shadow. Some would go so far as to throw debris, and old food etc. He was essentially being boo'ed Sundance's mantra aided in increasing the townspeople's morale. Shadow for what it was worth, in this scenario lost the minute he bore arms in a village ruled by the man he was assaulting. Shadow may have seen Oragor the villain but here, there was no one more villainous than the man who believed himself to be the hero saving its people from a threat of which they were all unawares. Perhaps at face value Oragor could be seen as notorious, but with a man like Baranara beside him in his rule to placate the peoples worry of such things. It would be good luck to shadow to try convince them otherwise.

tab
[T]he boy's movements were impressive as he vanished, reappearing behind Hesrik in an instant and bringing a kick around to try and snag him from behind. Were it not for his frame of mind being as focused as it was a strike like that would have thrown him, putting him in true danger of a chained strike. As it was he brought the scythe up in an arc to slash down behind his back, forming a barricade to which the boy's kick would slam and send him spinning forward towards the earth. Catching the stone with the head of his scythe, cracking the earth from the impact Hesrik sent himself into rotating end over end, each side being caught by the haft or head of the weapon to slow him down and causing a wreck of the stone between. Finally putting heel to pavement and sliding the Kokorokage would bring the shaft of his weapon crashing down into the earth with a phrase of eldritch power, "Shãng ri zã vrish!". Even as the rocks came raining in and the bamboo stalk erupted where he once had clashed the Kokorokage considered what was happening. That boy, that face, could belong to but one figure, one that marked the University of this village below the earth. Shadowseeker, the brother to the Mizukage to whom Hesrik paid homage with every waking breath.
tab And that meant the boy believed him to be that which he stole the appearance from.
tab What the angry residents wouldn't know was who this boy was and why he was fighting their leader and hero, but that didn't extend to Hesrik himself. It was clear that the boy had mistaken him for the dark b*****d that Hesrik wanted dead more than any other and had sought to end his life. Would he have done any different had the Devourer appeared before him, the world unknowingly passing by as the darkest of all beings marched in their midst? It was clear a misunderstanding was afoot, and in all his concern Baranara was about to make a terrible mistake. And so with those words would come a howling fire that would erupt around the circle of civilians that had formed, causing all to stumble back lest they catch fire and lasting injury. What Baranara would do about Hesrik attacking them would have to matter later, for right now he needed to end this lest an opportunity escape.
tab Standing quickly as the eruption of fire ceased the Kokorokage roared out in a voice that was all command in the sudden silence. "Enough!" There was no tremble within his scythe as he stood tall despite what the sudden exertion had wrenched from him. There was no worry, nor sweat upon his brow for he would have nothing give away the weakness of his body. He stood tall and strong, a symbol of what he needed from his people as he stared into Shadow's rage filled face and continued. "I am not who you think I am, Seeker of the Shadows," he began, using a phrase he'd heard once on the lips of his people before the Taking had wrought its due as a means of referencing the boy. Perhaps he would understand the reference, and hesrik's desire for none to know yet who he was. "He is my enemy as much as your's! If you will calm your ire I would speak with you, and prove to you the truth of this."
tab Truth?
tab Perhaps some part of him had already began to plot and think, for he knew he could prove to the boy that he was not the Devourer. Living shadow, a paragon of fear and misery, the creature that the boy assumed him to be was something that the world should be welcome to see die. But would he risk exposing his reality to prove himself? For this boy, who may know where the book he sought hid? Perhaps.
tab Raising his voice again he spoke to the crowd at large, and to Baranara. "A case of mistaken identity, no more or less. I will personally pay for any damages caused. To the rest of you, see to the fire I see burning." He did not take his eyes from Shadowseeker, however. No, that would be foolish.

GREY xxxxx
As if the ever-looming threat of stray lightning bolts and one particularly annoying missing link weren't enough, Grey now had an even bigger problem to contend with. Fire. She hadn't even realized the burning building with all the commotion going on, but the very sound of the word sent the girl into a wide-eyed, cold sweat. A searing pain shot through the girl's bandaged arm as memories of her last run in with a burning building raced through her mind. The flight or fight voices were back, this time crying out in a chorus of "flee," and thankfully, whether by some divine grace or pure chance, her benefactor had offered the option to leave. Taking hold of the woman's arm with one hand, Grey tugged the her away from the crowd in a clear sign that she'd really rather just be anywhere else but here.

Raising his hands above his head in mock defense Sunny gave a look of shocked pain! How could one little girl be so rude to a complete stranger?! Just what were they teaching these kids in this swamphole anyway. Mumbling something under his breath Sundance looked around the area trying to find sand to make himself useful. While the girl hadn't directly asked him to help he still had an obligation to his fellow man to do what he could. Plus he could earn brownie points with his two daddy's now that the fighting had come to an end.

Only problem was that more of the water and sand was being requistioned by others fighting hotspots. Of course he dumped what little sand he could get his hands on, and to his credit he only stood around way less than what he usually would have done. Only when others were taking charge over him to get water to other hotspots did he relent his 'spot in line' to them. Apart of him thought about blasting the area with wind since the flames were natural he may be able to put them out, but the risk to property damage from either him or making the situation worse spurred away from that plan. Instead he was happy to loan his man-power (monkey-power) to the cause, and also clean out his ear from the occasional yelling.

tab Feeling the tug on her arm from behind her Erza would turn to take the offered hand from Grey with a small smile. Not all children could be brave, and no one was brave all the time. This seemed to be one of the times where fear was evident in expression and posture, something she couldn't ignore. "Alright, I'll leave Sundance to handle it then. Here, let's get you someplace safe." With that she moved past gray and tugged her gently along, walking away from the fires that Sundance had leaped into action to fight. There were expressions of surprise all around as he began to assist. These rapidly changed to determination as many filed in to help fight while the Merchant Guild Captain took the girl towards a large official looking building further away from the crowds. With six glass windows to a floor and three floors in total it was apparent the place held more than a single room for this girl, and was far more than a simple home. The double wooden doors
tab As she stepped onto the steps leading to the doorway of the office Erza took a moment to explain. "We don't have much space within the village itself, so we have to let office buildings double as homes. Just inside and to the right are stairs. Following them will get you to my room." With that she opened the doors and held it open for grey, who smiled encouragingly at her. "I'm going to go grab us some food and meet you up there. Any requests?"

tab Back at the fire the water and sand lines were picking up, with many clambering together to assist as much as possible. The fire by now had been reduced by half, and if they were but to maintain or hasten their pace and effectiveness just one more step they would succeed in a matter of minutes of combating the blaze. [In effect you can finish putting out the last fire next post].

User ImageKagerou had been purveying the goods in the marketplace, somehow separated from Takeda and Nozomi, whether intentionally or unintentionally. The very rare musical instruments, of course, were what caught her attention the most, but unfortunately, she was aware that their current state didn't allow for much to be spent on luxuries such as these. She could only smile as she window shopped, occasionally getting lucky enough to convince a shop keeper to let her try his instruments for a bit. Even though the instruments she could touch were nowhere near the quality of the masterpieces she used to play in her past life, being able to even see them brought a wave of nostalgia.

That was that, though. Holding a bag of popcorn in one hand, Kagerou had started getting down into the real business of things, wandering around the market district with more of an eye for the prices of the various necessities and ears for the latest gossip. She took it as a good sign that no one appeared to make any mention of the Sero.

Naturally, the noise of the mob drew her attention, and before long, her body. Picking out various mentions of "outsider" and similar terms among the insults tossed, a bad feeling began to stir in Kagerou. Her smile faded, but she moved as she did, not getting ahead of herself. She popped a popcorn casually into her mouth as she tried to find a way to see through the crowd. Jump. Hop.

Oh. And now there was fire. Kagerou watched as several bodies in the front were thrown back with the force of the explosion, and while she stood there, nomming on another piece of popcorn, she heard a title that jerked her out of her observer status. A frown creased her face. Okay, fine. She would give up her popcorn. Smoothly putting it into the hands of a kid nearby (though, she was a kid herself), Kagerou swifly squirmed her way through the now thinner crowd.

Her green hair stood out and her red eyes gleamed, but her actions depicted just another passerby. She neither stepped out or behind the crowd, resisting the urge to get even closer to the fire so she could see through the flickering light and answer the questions that swam through her mind.

Of what she could make out, Shadow was facing an unknown individual, evidently someone well known and well liked by the crowd. Striking without reason, even more so in such a public place, was unlike him.

She could ask him about that later, though.

The more immediate concern was that Shadow's opponent was being awfully nice for someone that was just attacked out of the blue, if the temper of this crowd was to be believed. He... He wasn't planning to do anything strange to Shadow, was he? "Shadow noooo. You can't take candy from weird strangers... Just walk away... Just walk away from the creepy weirdo..."

[x] My kick connected, but not with the man's neck, instead hooking his scythe and sending him spiraling into the ground below. He caught himself, unfortunately, but I was getting closer to striking.

Somewhere through the red haze of my rage, I could hear a familiar voice shouting for me to get away. Lord Oragor? I supposed it was possible that he took on a different alias to blend in with the crowd, although that was very unlike him. What was Junan trying to accomplish by drawing people to his side. Something didn't feel right.

That feeling was lost, though, as someone else interfered, perhaps drawn enough from their stupor to finally react after the series of events of the last few minutes. Or had it been seconds? It didn't matter in the long run but regardless I was beginning to realize just how much I had been throwing at this monster. While chakra reserves were still plentiful, it was unusual for me to waste energy like I had been. If I wasn't careful, things would not go in my favor. Though, to be fair, it seemed they wouldn't anyway if someone else was getting involved. I wasn't so sure that I could take on two people at once.

The only warning given was a second shout, following the first, before the ground trembled audibly. Them a massive trunk shot from the earth under me and I was forced, once more, to dash out of the way using chakra to propel me. I landed lightly on the opposite side of the sudden tree, separated from my target for a moment. Eyes narrowing, I cast my gaze around to the Wraiths that had gathered. It shot up to the man that had interfered as he spoke in broken sentences, his voice laced with an accent I didn't recognize. Cries of disdain also rose from the gathered crowd, and I felt the white hot fury begin to shift into a terrible embarrassment. As a rock bounced off the side of my head, causing me to flinch, I realized I'd lost.

'Oragor' slammed the end of his weapon into the ground alongside a series of unfamiliar words, and fire erupted in a circle around us, halting the villagers' assaults and pushing them back. However, he made no move to attack again, and instead spoke to me in a voice I did not expect. I felt my stomach drop, and I thought for a moment I would be sick from the sheer shame I felt. Regardless of how the crowd reacted, my social anxiety told me that they were all cajoling and sneering at me. This really wasn't Junan. But then... why did he look so similar? Similar enough to trigger memories I hadn't known I had. Though he didn't shift his gaze from me, I found I couldn't meet his. He wanted to speak with me and prove who he was.

But I couldn't face him. Not there, not in that instant. I needed to clear my mind before I could even attempt to confront this man I'd mistakenly attacked. Glancing sideways, my gaze settled on Kokuei briefly. So that's who I heard before. He'd somehow managed to survive. Squeezing my eyes shut, I made a single hand seal and shunshin'd out of the circle. Away from the piercing eyes.

It seemed as though the fire was at last beginning to die down through the combined might of the villages efforts. Occasionally he looked over his shoulder to see if either bubbalubba or hesiklik were looking in his direction, letting out a depressed sigh when neither gave him the reaction he was hoping for. Oh to have senpai notice me. Ignoring the looks he DID get from all the other villagers Sundance practically broke his back trying trying to carry buckets of sand and water to places where they needed him most. It was still his primary goal to help but his fur was starting to get singed and he absoulutlely could not have that s.ell following him around.

Kokuei:
I fly towards Shadow, wondering how he got her, only to find my path blocked by a tree out of nowhere. I hit the tree full force, before finding myself flung backwards by the tree I had crashed into. As I fly backwards I see lord Baranara getting involved in the fight, which has come to a complete end.

I start to shift in flight to get back up and hopefully stop lord Oragor from doing anything too harsh to Shadow, only to feel an impact on the back of my head and find myself getting dizzy. I manage to utter "Don't do anything more rash, Shadow!" though I doubt anyone heard, and pass out reaching towards Shadow.

🌴"Cold: the air and water flowing, Hard: the land we call our home,Push to keep the dark from coming, Feel the weight of what we owe"🌴

"BAH! WHY FIRE! FIRE BAD! NOT IN VILLAGE! Baranara, in order to minimize damage to facilities as expected of him, stomped his foot on the ground. To get his grounding, after some hand seals the wind seemed to pick up but really it was the rustling of a large number of leaves like an instructor with a baton he'd guide the leaves to perform a sweeping circle to smother Oragor's earlier flames as the green from their water content desperately tried to survive the flames as they turned to ashes while simultaneously if not 'barely' quelling the flames filling the air with black vegetation and ash the rest would have to be left to the fire outing effort tending to the surroundings and building. A bit upset with Oragor's response but at the same time Baranara rose his hand to halt any enclosing mist wraiths towards the tumbled Shadow.

He would take a step forward only for the assailant to vanish. "BAH!" Baranara's eyes narrowed displeased. "Cowardice." with that statement he exhaled through his nostrils as he placed his weapon on his back watching the crowds who weren't rowdy start ousting the fire remnants. He'd then raise his hand a signal to disperse the crowd as the mans eyes slid to Oregano. Approaching his kage and for the most part friend even if he was faking that honor Baranara cricked his neck before inquiring sounding rather unenthused and less than ecstatic. "What that about? You no telling me thing? Cheh. It not matter. Looking at the mist wraiths he said one word. "Find." with nods from those who weren't de rowdyfying the civilians or aiding the effort they dispersed. He was still a little upset with Oragor's method of cessation. Someone descending from a clan of plant users there was two things to be disliked flames and frost the guiltiest of elements for wroughting death to crop.

As a mist wraith walked by Baranara stopped him by the should. "Be checking all who not belong here for mark." letting the boy go who was shakily frightened he was about to say something else in a panic dashed off. Heading into the building where Erza welcomed Grey he seemed less than confident about having to partake in interrogation. "EEEE..EXCUSE ME MMMM MISS ERZA? A..A Suspicious person? Did you h...happen to see one an..anywhere who..who may not have a mark on their hand?" Whether Erza would defend her new refugee in favor of getting the aforementioned food or throw the poor gal to the wolves or have her back was to be decided. Baranara aptly had decided to spread the forces of Kokorogakure to find the assailant a matter of who would find Shadow first between the village and his friends and associates was left to time and resources.

But of course the most suspicious thing, at least to Baranara was the unconscious heap. Walking up to him past Oragor with a scowl of clear levels of upset he'd lightly begin kicking the pineapple head until he came to for questioning. "You! Being getting up! You knowing the attacker! Information, be giving now. No lie. ME KNOW." a clear lack of his usual jolliness. If there was a threat in the village, the one that was made with the hearts of those he considered his new tribe he would not stand for treason. Despite it being a simple mistake in identity the mishap very well could have led to the injury or possible death of the inhabitants. Something intolerable and Baranara despite his thick headedness did not like this sudden lack of information.
