"Bath." Valko agreed the chicks where so slimy and gross. But he loved them anyway.
He gently placed 'Speckles' into the tub of water. being careful to keep the chick's head above the water at she screamed and flailed. Grabbing the soap Saira had put down he worked on washing all the slime off and cleaning what feathers the hatching had.
First she was in the air but warm now she was WET and COLD and NOT HAPPY. 'Speckles' continued to shriek as she was placed in the cool water for a bath. She had been wet and slimy before and now she was SUPER WET. her little feet kicked out splashing around, causing the water to swash around in the bucket as she tried to escape. Now there was this thing rubbing up against her. She was a very unhappy chick and was determined to let the world know it.
Unlike the chicks, borkbork was still covered in slime and would not be getting a bath. Water would make all the flour inside all clumpy and possibly moldy if it didn't dry out right. Luckily he wasn't able to actually feel slimy since he is just a flour sack.

"It's not 'Ma-ma-ma' it's 'Sa-i-ra'. I swear."
Saira was really making sure the chick was fully dry, her down feathers nearly poofing up in the process, before she dried off her own arms. There was an angry tsk as she assessed the collateral damage. Her findings: 100% completely not worth. Her smooth arms were now riddled with enough cuts that she might as well have been playing in a hay pile, and they stung too.
With a side-eye at the loud shrieking that had begun anew, Saira knew that she did not want to bother with this nonsense anymore. Brat was hungry? Yeah. No kidding. The adult was beginning to feel pretty famished at this point too from all the nonsense. With a practiced motion, she put the now-dry-and-cleaned chick onto the ground and walked a few paces to hang the damp towel to dry on a vine hanging overhead. Then without saying anything, she began to walk outside towards the hut where they both prepared and kept their food preserves. Once it looked like Valko had been cleaning off 'Speckles' a fair amount, Hatil placed her sister 'Mossy' beside her in the tub of water. It was just big enough for the pair of newborns to fit without being too cramped. Only a little.
"Pass me Speckles when she's clean and I'll dry her off!" 'Mossy' had had a bad feeling the moment that she heard her sister's cried grow louder again, but she was very much NOT NOT NOT HAPPY to be put in a scary thing filled with cold and wet and sister. She wanted out and wasn't afraid to let her parents know.

Rosamin just fluttered what feathers she had before aiming to follow Saira. This was her mummy now, she was not leaving. Perhaps food was coming? Yes, food was coming as the chick followed the older female's feet. She giggled as she picked up speed, practically at a running pace now to keep up with the other, nuzzling the leg of the one that found her.

Valko nodded when Hatil said to pass her the baby when she was clean. It didn't take him much longer to finish scrubbing all the ick off 'Speckles' and rinse her off, even with both chicks screaming and flailing.
He picked up speckles and handed her to Hatil to dry before turning back to the tub and starting to rub the soap over 'Mossy'. He hoped the babies would feel better when they where clean and dry.
'Speckles' continued her angry peeping as water ran over her face and and she was rinsed off. The fact that her sister was here did not help her feel any better it was still wet and cold. Said peeping turned into a wild screech when she was picked up again and handed over to her mom.
Borkbork continued to remain covered in eggshells.

If Saira wasn't in such a foul mood [pun intended], she might have actually considered the actions of the now-clean fluffball to be pretty endearing, well, for a moment anyways. But she wasn't feeling it right now, nor when she came to a stop in front of the shed and the little fluffer made itself known again.
The adult reached down and picked up the chick with a bit of resignation. Ideally she'd prefer to just have it sit outside while she fetched some things, but she had a feeling the blue turdnugget would ignore her, follow her anyways, and end up hurt. And then Hatil would make a big deal of it and she would be the bad person. Ugh.
Today was the worst.
Chick in one hand, she walked into the smoky-smelling hut and looked around for a moment before eyeing a pair of rabbits that had been smoked; they'd be good for a stew. Pair in hand, she then grabbed a number of dried herbs from the forest to go with it and, lastly, she cut off about half of a piece of jerkied boar belly that'd been finished not that long ago with one of her nails. This should keep those brats occupied (Hatil and Valko included). Hatil happily ignored the screams and looked 'Speckles' from her friend as she was handed off, not wasting a moment before putting the small chick in the fluffy towel and ruffling up her feathers dry. "There, all good now! Aren't you a pretty bird Speckles?" Giving the little one a happy fluffing of her head feathers she stood to hang the damp towel and quickly prepare a new one for 'Mossy.'The cold and wet became even scarier once she was alone. The big pae was rubbing something weird feeling and strong smelling on her and it made her feel strange and she didn't like it. She wanted her sister and her warm back RIGHT NOW. Mossy continued to cry in the cold.

The wee harpy chicken fluttered happily when she was picked up and then tucked away in the arm like a football. She burrowed, nudging her face into Saira's arm, giving a rather happy squawk as they trudge along doing what they needed to do. The mere scents, smokey from the smoke-house place had gotten her to cough a bit, but the meaty scent that came shortly after had her trilling excitedly. This was wonderful! Soon a nice meal, clean from the mud and sticks of the forest, and a long warm sleep would follow. Oh, how she looks forward to burrowing into Mama on a cold night!

Valko dumped water over Mossy and soon the chick was being passed off to Hatil for drying. Hopefully that would cheer them up.
Huh where did Saira go, off to bond with her chick he supposed.
'Speckles' squawked as the towel was rubbed all over her, she did not like!! Where was sister? But she was getting not wet so there was that.
Her peeping started to slowly settle down as Hatil finished drying her and ruffled her head feathers. Oooh that felt nice~ She was now warmer and fluffy!

Course a baby wouldn't handle the lingering smoke well; that was yet another reason Saira would have preferred her to stay behind. Not like she could do anything about it at this point though. Besides, she had everything she wanted, time to head on out. The pink one was returned to the ground once the door to the hut had been shut; Saira did rip use her teeth to rip off a portion of the jerky as hand it to the chick before moving back to the hut.
Thankfully, things seemed to be quieting down.
"Oi, Hatil. Valko. Watch the little brats would you? I'm going to get a rabbit stew started for dinner and don't need them trying to mess around with the fire." She walked over to their internal storage area to grab a worn clay cooking pot; they should probably get a new one soon... Then to the pair of adults as she once again returned outside. "Actually, if one of you wants to be useful you could skin the hog and get it ready to smoke and whatever, that'd be great." You know what else would be great? If she was able to say something like that without coming across as terribly sarcastic. Now that 'Speckles' was all clean and dry, that meant it was 'Mossy's turn; how exciting! New chick in hand, Hatil went about drying her in the exact same manner as her sister. "Dump the water? Dirty?" She asked Valko as her hands continued to work on drying; the water had cleaned 3 very dirty baby birds at this point, so it was probably too gross to use for much else.
Head fluff to 'Mossy' and the towel was also slung to dry.
The green harpy pouted and puffed out her cheeks at Saira's nagging; maybe if she'd told her that she also had a chick they could have prepared for three, but nooooo. She had to keep her egg a surprise! Stupid Saira! It was times like this that her territorial nature really got pumping and made her wanna go annoy the hell outta her. Cold Mossy did not like water on her face, but she had grown too tied to keep screaming as she had. Her body shook from cold and fear as she was once again lifted up and forced to endure another strange sensation. This one, however, didn't seem bad. It was soft and made the yucky cold go away. The chick blinked as her newly-dried feathers poofed out; she felt so much better!

Once out of the smokey place, Rosamin breathed a lot better and enjoyed the scent of meat. When the bigg'un held out something weird, she took a sniff and trilled excitedly. It smells really good! She just snatched it, flapping her tiny wings as she munched down on it heartily. The mere taste of it was so good, just a bit tough but that is ok, it is food after all! In that span of time, she didn't notice that there was others until she was set down next to them while her Mama went to grab a few things. When the jerky was all gobbled up, she looked up and blinked, giving a curious chirp and looked at the others whom was screeching and being annoyed and all that. "Mama?" she yelped, looking around for the other one, looking slightly scared.

"Dump" Valko agreed with a nod before picking up the bucket of water and carefully moving it out of the house so he could pour it on the ground with out getting the house or yard wet.
It was probably a bad idea to dump it back into the pond if it was bad right? He headed to the edge of the woods and dumped the tub out.
Returning he gave Hatil a thumbs up as he put the bucket back where Saira had gotten it.
It seemed like the chicks where finally settling down. Hmm Saira had left her kid here too. She hadn't mentioned the name of her chick did she?
"Mama food." He told the little pink and blue bird, explain that Saira was cooking or at least he was trying,
'Speckles' was warm and poofy and now 'Mossy' was here! Mom was close and everything was good. But there was this other pink thing looking at her. 'Speckles' tried to shift so that she was closer to 'Mossy'.

Shirking her 'motherly' duties, Saira began to dutifully prepare a fire in the fire pit of the cooking hut and get this rabbit stew going. Hatil looked over to give Valko a big ol' thumbs up as he returned with an emptied bucket. All the chicks were happy and clean now; everything was going really quite well! That left one last thing for her to do...
With a few steps, she went to pick up BorkBork so she could carry the now-spent eggshells to the woods to dump. Ewww~ The flour sack was all sticky and gross like the chicks had been. she should clean it too, otherwise even grosser things would appear on it.
"I'mma finish cleaning, Valko play with chicks?" she suggested before picking up the sack to take outside with her. 'Mossy' was now a very happy chick with the yucky and the cold gone from her feathers. She about coo'd in delight when she noticed her big sis nearby and went to to poke at her, but stopped as she noticed the pink one nearby. Mama didn't look like that; pink = unknown = scary. 'Mossy' quickly retreated behind 'Speckles'.

Rosamin looked around after panicking, fluffing up her feathers in intimidation for the first time before she calmed down. She looked like a bowling ball when she had done that, all round and fluffy. When she saw the others, same size as her, only one hid behind the other, she toddled sideways over to them and blinked, staring at the front standing harpy chick. The young female gave a chirp, and then blinked at 'Speckles' curiously.

"Okay!" Valko agreed play with the kids supervise he could do that! while Hatil went off to finish the cleaning.
Who know eggs where so messy?
He hummed thought fully as he watched the kids meeting each other, what could they play? What kind of games did one play with a newborn?
Hide and seek?
'Speakles' Stood guard in front of her sister. This strager shall not pass! It was time to inspect!
She mimicked rosamin and chirped. Contact was made, now to assess the threat.
Borkbork would have been glad that the shrieking had stopped, but lacking ears such things did not give him a headache. Does a sack of flour even have a head?
The stickiness that Borkbork could not feel was unpleasant to the one who had picked him up.
Which meant bath time washing the sack would be fine but what of the flour inside? it would get clumpy and maybe moldy.
Was borkbork about to be dissected and his insides removed? If so he hopes to get them back when dry.
Alas it might be the end of borkbork. Shame his innards wont even be used to make cookies.

Once outside, Hatil was about to just dump the entire sack into the pond for washing when she paused. It wasn't as if she figured BorkBork was actually sentient - of course not, he's nothing but a flour sack - but she had remembered something else. A key fact. The sack was not empty! If she put it in the water, it would get even grosser.
Time for Plan B.
She put the sack near the water's edge as she ran inside to grab one of the damp towels and then return out. Once there, she got it damp with the pond water and began to use it to gently scrub the yuckiness away from the surface. Now in relative safety in the position behind her sister, 'Mossy' stared at the very poofy and very pink thing in front of her. She ruffled her own downy feathers, floofing them slightly before returning a cautious chirp of her own.

Rosamin blinked rapidly at the other one's chirp to her. She chirped back, fluffing her feathers up before inching sideways in closeness to 'Speckles' and 'Mossy'. And then she did the unexpected, she gave a nudge and then settled down on the ground, looking expectedly at the other harpy chicks.
