The Wraith
Sheriff Kent eyes Etrigan as he stepped forward to bind the demon's hands. Etrigan's arms were a bit thicker than the shackles allowed so they bound him using the lasso around his neck. It effectively bound his arms to his neck but his feet were free so he could move normally. Nathaniel chose to stand down and so he let the deputies assume a little more control over their actions to prevent Kent from thinking something was up. Etrigan would be brought to the sheriff's office and placed in a dinky iron holding cell. Nothing seemed overly out of the ordinary. Sheriff Kent, who was just doing his best to make sense of all this while hiding his own secrets, immediately sent his deputies down to the train station to see if they could get Luthor. He couldn't stand the man. He knew Luthor was involved with the local gangs but he didn't know how and he couldn't prove it. That may not have mattered to sheriff's like Wayne but it mattered to Kent and that was why Luthor was running the town. "You better have a good reason for dragging me down here Kent! I have-" When mayor Luthor finally arrived he seemed to be in a fit that was only stopped by his shock at Etrigan's appearance. "What in God's name is that?" Luthor barked at Kent who was standing behind his desk with an irritated look. "I don't know but it wanted to talk to you. Promised to be peaceful under those conditions. You know we need that right now. Especially with the transport coming through town." The sheriff replied dryly. Luthor stepped a little closer to the bars holding Etrigan and examined him. He didn't say anything which probably meant he was waiting for Etrigan to speak.

The Demon was moderately surprised that the mayor actually did show up. But as such he still would use it to his fullest advantage. “I am told you are the smartest man alive. Which is probably why this town is able to thrive. But tell me, mayor? Does it seem that this reality has another layer? Does it feel like when you sleep? That this is the dream, and the dream is reality? And as such when you being counting sheep. Is when you feel life is at its real quality? I ask these questions as I come to tell you something’s amiss, and that ignorance is not bliss. Something has you all under spell, and I’m here to make fail. In the real world, you own an empire. Is that not something you desire? Would you not want what is real? Instead of what this dream is making you feel?” The Demon after finishing his speech would hope Lex was as smart and ambitious in the dreamworld as he was in this one. If he was he knew that any promise of power would get him on the Demon’s side, and as such Etrigan would have more resources at his disposal to get to the bottom of this giant illusion. Etrigan suspected that the dream stone was definitely at play, even though he was beginning to have his doubts Dr. Destiny was involved at all.

Luthor had been implored by the real law of the land to come and see what had been pitched to him as a hulking beast. He certainly hadn’t expected that the beast would be capable of nearly as much speech as it was. Let alone persuasive speech. He was no fool but Etrigan had everything working against him. Everyone believed that this was their world and a demon showing up and professing it was all a dream didn’t strike as particularly compelling. Etrigan was smart to appeal to Luthor’s greed but Luthor already had more than his western diminished mind could want. He owned the railroad that brought all trade to Tombstone. He owned the couriers. He owned Tombstone and it was his empire. Only Sheriff Kent stood in his way and Etrigan had done nothing to imply he’d fix that problem. Instead Etrigan urged him to believe that the world he was in was not real. A losing argument that would have been strengthened it either Kent or Luthor knew the secret of Miss Diana’s lasso. Fortunately for Etrigan he wouldn’t have to worry about freeing himself because Nathaniel had the deputies. “You’re insane. Whatever you are.” Luthor finally decided before turning to face Kent “Hang him before sundown.” Luthor ordered but Kent didn’t leapt to his command. In fact Kent walked over to the door and opened it as if to tell Luthor to get out. There weren’t many places Clark could tell a Luthor to screw off but the sheriff’s office was one. Luthor, chin held high, walked out the door and turned one last time to remind Clark “If I don’t see him swinging before the train comes through and he causes problems, it’ll be on your head.” Clark shut the door in Luthor’s face as soon as he finished speaking. “Don’t worry. As much as he likes to think he is the law in this town, he isn’t. So long as you didn’t kill anyone I can let you go. The people won’t like it but... not everything that is abnormal is bad. Just sit tight while my deputies look around the saloon.” After saying that Deputies Stewart and Jones walked into the office. “We found something you may wanna see. Deputy Garner is waiting for you at the saloon.” Clark sighed and looked towards Etrigan regretfully for a moment before he walked out of the office, leaving Etrigan alone and Deputy Stewart and Jones to guard him. Not a moment later did Nathaniel appear in the middle of the room. Jones handed him the cell keys and he began to unlock it. ”Garner won’t be able to keep him distracted for long. He doesn’t seem the brightest and Im letting him freeball. “
Meanwhile John had taken himself to the general store to buy some simple supplies for the road. Jason had burned Tombstone for him so he’d have to find a new place to hide out until he could find the source of this grand deception. He knew Etrigan would be fine because Nathaniel had made it clear he was going to play hero. That was why John wasn’t trying to spring Jason now. Well that and the fact that the whole fight began because John was wanted. That fact made John believe that whoever was doing this had it out for him but John was wrong. Everyone was the product of the life they lived in this grand illusion and for John that meant he had a bounty. Unfortunately for John he was about to be spotted by a wonderful woman who had already had a long day.

Having being dismissed after rendering her services earlier in catching a demon of all things rearing its ugly mug from no where. Diana retreated back to her brothel to examine the damage done to her property. A scowl was present as she assessed the destruction. Nothing that a little elbow grease couldn't fix.. however the loss of business was... unfortunate. Walking into the bar area, she couldn't take her frustrations out on anyone in particular. Casting a glance towards the bar tender whom offered her a drink, she shook her head no and thanked the man as she exited out of the back of the establishment. While en route to the general store's rear entrance, she snatched up her hat that had been knocked off during the scuffle earlier. Strolling past the storage room towards the small 4x4 curtained dressing room was located at in the back of the general store. A frustrated sigh escaped Diana's breath, as she dusted off the brim of her hat before settling it back upon her crown. Providing a simple adjusting tilt of how the hat sat, only to pause briefly to take a moment to gander at her reflection. The make shift, pieced together mirror, provided a not so clear reflection but still provided a service to those who cast their gaze upon it. The mirror was located in the back of the general store. Her right hand idly dropped downwards to settle upon her golden choker as her expression shifted from calm and serene appearance to a more serious one when she came to realize she was no longer alone. Super senses, honed in on rustling in the background located not too far off from where she stood. Turning quietly on her heels, she aligned herself to move with a purpose across the old country store wooden planks. Without any hesitation the saloon doors swung open as Diana, stood bare for the intruder to see. Using her attire as a form of distraction, which in and of itself was dangerous. Red silken material filled out every natural curve perfectly and evenly along her athletic stature. The skirted train parted ways from her stars and stripes she moved into view, all while propping her right hand along her waist. Her left hand idly held one of the saloon doors open as she cast her gaze across the way towards the intruder. "I do hope you've enjoyed browsing the wares...however you do realize, you still have to pay for what was gathered."

Etrigan looked to Nathaniel and replied in back in Rhyme. “Even though I’m glad you came for me, Sheriff Kent said I’m soon to be let go free. As while you were gone, he was going to prove I did nothing wrong. But let us conspire before he comes back. What is our plan of attack?” This was Etrigan’s way of letting Nathaniel know they can either try and do this by the books or continue with the rescue plan. The Demon wasn’t too concerned by the law. But he also knew if he could get -anyone- on their side that was trapped in this dream state it would be Diana. But that would have to come later as he remembered there was a third option. “Or there is another way I can go escape unseen. By switching to my weaker half, if I’m not going to be mean.” He then look to Nathaniel, knowing Mandrake had his own thoughts on the matter.

”I heard some of it. He said you’d be fine as long as you didn’t kill anyone but there are a lot of bodies back there and it’s kinda hard to figure out who shot who so-“ Nathaniel’s explaining became rambling and he teleported into the cell. Mandrake materialized beside him and Etrigan’s spell would allow Etrigan to see and hear him. The branded deputies saw him too but it was because they were branded. Mandrake seemed pleased Etrigan was bound until Nathaniel began untying the lasso. ”Take your mortal form. It will make travel easier.” Mandrake agreed. Once Nathaniel finished untying the lasso from Etrigan he wrapped it around his waist. He was unaware of the mystical properties the rope held and was just trying to find a way to store it. Unfortunate then that he had to tell the truth.
John was surprised to hear Diana behind him suddenly. He'd hoped that the majority of the town was too distracted by the commotion from his saloon but he'd apparently been wrong. It was unfortunate but it was something he could deal with. "I fully intend to pay, love." John replied as he turned and witnessed Diana in all her star spangled glory. Took him a lot of restraint not to laugh but he didn't have enough restraint not to whistle. He like women... and men and Diana was a whole lot of woman especially when cast as a brothel owner in the west. "Would you mind getting the bloke who runs the register? I haven't seen him." A weak attempt to get her to go away but John didn’t have much he could use. In this reality he was a wanted criminal and she was a brothel owner. That wouldn’t have been a problem if she also wasn’t Diana Prince who would undoubtedly try to stop John if she found out he was wanted. He could try to cast a spell but he didn’t know any that would certainly clear Diana’s mind and if it didn’t she would know he was a warlock and would probably call the sheriff... or deal with him herself. He didn’t know which he preferred.

His weak attempt to send her away, just made an eyebrow rise high along her brow as a sly smile appeared along her ruby lips. "Well cowboy, you should count your lucky stars." Diana stated as she strolled over closer to where John was standing. With his hand on top of something he was considering purchasing so he claimed, she laid her hand a top of his with a smile. Her expression however was hard to read, even though she appeared to be inviting and welcoming to him then. "I have a thing for bad boys... and you sir, are obviously a bad boy. Waltzing in here as if you own the joint. Ordering me about as if I was some servant girl."
"Look at you, you have the look as though you are ready to bolt on a moment's notice. I can see that in your eyes. What has you so nervous, that there's a more than obvious twitch at the corner of your eyes? Afraid that the law will be marching through the front door to cuff you and take you away?" Her smile widened at the thought of cuffing the man and throwing away the keys. She happened to notice how twitchy one eye was, as if he was nervous. He was after all caught with his hand in the cookie jar. While she on the other hand, remained cool and collected. Even a playful flirt, just to see how he would react to what she was going to do next. Diana purposely glided her hand along the backside of this man's hand, as she kept eye contact with him. Closing the distance between the two of them, as she moved to lean closer to whisper to him, "Tell me something sweetheart....are you afraid of little ole me? Afraid of what might happen next? The town is distracted with what took place earlier. I highly doubt they'll come in here looking for you." Her lips were mere inches away from his ear. As tempting as it was, to pull an old luring trick to get him closer. She reluctantly withdrew from continuing as she pulled back to see his reaction. Whatever it may be.

"Maybe you didn't see that beast on the streets. Not a normal thing." John didn't appear overly concerned at Diana continued. In fact the more she said the more relaxed he appeared to become because he was realizing he had to go with it. Etrigan was easy to blame for his jumpiness. Diana didn't know the truth of the world and he couldn't explain it to her right now. Yet there were other urges or desires that caused John to pause. Definitely not the honorable call but John was wondering just how far he could take this little visit. Wonder Woman in a saloon in the west? Nobody would believe him anyways but the memory might make it worth it on its own. Yet there was business to be put first and John needed to wrap up with Diana. John tried to keep eye contact but Diana's fiddling with his hand did draw his attention for a moment. He was thinking and that thinking meant he was silent. Maybe for too long maybe not but he made his decision. "You were right about one thing, love-" John leaned forward to whisper in her ear as she had whispered in his yet the words he whispered were nothing like the ones she had. He had whispered a restraining spell to try and freeze Diana in place. "I can be pretty bad. I know, not the bondage you were looking for love but I had to make due." With the hope that the spell had worked and Diana was restrained, for the short few minutes the spell's effects would hold, John tried to leave the general store.

Etrigan then looked to Nathaniel and replied to him, Very well then, I shall turn back again. Gone gone o’ Etrigan........Rise again the form of man. In the same burst of flames Etrigan had appeared he then did appeared with Jason resuming in his place, on his hands and knees to the floor he rose to see his rescuers. With Etrigan’s older spell in effect Jason would see his former comrade beside Nathaniel, but Jason would not fully recognize the fallen knight right away, nor did he have the time for pleasantries of getting reacquainted. ”Etrigan didn’t give me much details, other than you’re here to rescue me. I’m Jason Blood by the way. Jason realized he had Diana’s lasso. And if no longer bound him as his form was considerably smaller than Etrigan’s. We need to bring this to Diana, it may be the key to awakening her from this dream. After that we need to find John. Jason had a feeling the two were close by together, but he would not reveal such to Nathaniel. As he had some limited precognitive powers and divination, but he kept that as a secret, even from John.

Nathaniel, who'd wrapped the lasso around his waist, looked down at it and then back up to Jason. He untied it and then held it in his hand. "I've got a better way to do that." Nathaniel said to himself. The lasso glowed slightly at the moment Nathaniel was speaking but not after. Mandrake was pacing while Nathaniel was thinking. Clearly the rope disturbed Mandrake and when Jason remembered who Mandrake was he'd know why. Mandrake had done many things during the time of King Arthur in order to ensure he'd have power beyond death. He learned many things. He didn't like the idea that Nathaniel was so recklessly handling what Mandrake recognized to be the lasso of truth. A powerful tool in the right hands but their hands were not the right ones. Mandrake recognized at least that much. That was probably the greatest core difference between Mandrake and Nathaniel. Mandrake understood magic and the consequences that came with it, Nathaniel did not. Nathaniel used magic without the same consequences others paid because he used Mandrake's magic. Anyways, Nathaniel put the lasso around his shoulder so it would be easier to hand off when the time came and he held out his hand for Jason Blood to look at. Jason, thanks to his spell, would see Nathaniel's hand suddenly engulfed in blue flames. "I call it branding cause it leaves a hand print behind. This is how I got the deputies to help-" Nathaniel was suddenly interrupted by Mandrake who said "Jason is familiar with my persuasion. We need to leave before the sheriff returns." Nathaniel nodded in agreement and made his way to the door. "Can you find Constantine and Diana or should I send Mandrake?"

Jason took Nathaniel’s hand to get up, Jason also would’ve objected, to Nathaniel taking the Lasso, for same reasons Mandrake made the faces he did. However being around for a few hundred years Jason probably was a little better at diplomacy than his colleague. I can find her yes. And I think it might be better if I have the Lasso. Diana knows me. Or at leas will recognize me when I awake her. Where as with you she’ll probably be more alarmed. Jason also had hoped Mandrake would concur with Jason’s statements and aid in convincing Nathaniel if needed. Regardless of how things played out, Jason would lead Nathaniel to the building both John and Diana were in.

"Oh no, I did indeed see that beast that burst through the cavity of my brothel hall. Even lassoed it for a spell before it decided to rhyme and play games throughout the city." Diana stated, as she frowned almost instantly angered at recalling the events earlier. "Some unknown creature... a demon no doubt!" She looked away from the man, casting a glance out the general store's window to where the events had unfolded. Reliving the event in her mind's eye momentarily. That was the only conclusion she could have come up with. How on earth did something like that thing just suddenly appear and fly about with no strings? Shaking the fog like substance that appeared to linger before her blue eyes, she returned her attention to the stranger before her. Not daring to share with him that something felt off with the sudden appearance of a 'demon' of all things to land square in this town. When the man leaned forwards to return the favor to her with whispers, she found that the fog she had tried to cast off stay. But now, she couldn't move, feeling frozen in time. Was this possible? She could still breathe at least, that was a positive. But why couldn't she move, was this some form of trickery? Seeing the man before her withdraw from where he had once stood, moving off into the shadows. Panic entered her mind, as she stood there as still as a statue. Unsure of what had transpired or how to properly respond to it. Movement could be heard along the wooden planks entering into the general store establishment as she witnessed two.. or was it three images spilling out into view. Diana went to say something, but her lips remained still. All she could do was watch as the scene before her unfolded.

Nathaniel looked down at the lasso and then Jason in a moment of contemplation before he took it off his shoulder and handed it off to the warlock. To him it was just a shiny rope so he had no reason to be picky about who was holding it. Mandrake didn’t seem too pleased that it had been given to Jason but he didn’t audibly protest. He merged back into Nathaniel’s body and followed Jason to the general store where they were both surprised to find Diana standing frozen in place. The back door was swinging slightly and Nathaniel knew why that probably meant. As if their will was one, Mandrake’s magic went too work. Nathaniel vanished and then reappeared moments later with John who looked liked he’d dropped a cigarette in the transport.
“Bollocks, mate where did you come from!” John exclaimed before he looked over at Jason and Diana (Nathaniel was behind him). He could see Diana was still stuck and that was a relief but it wouldn’t last. “My spell won’t hold for long, we need to go.” John insisted while looking towards Diana who would be beginning to regain movement in her hands and toes. Nathaniel shuffled over to Diana and placed a hand on her forehead. ”So you might feel a slight pinch and then sudden burning in your brain. Don’t worry, it won’t kill you.” Nathaniel prefaced as he prepared to brand Diana. Jason hadn’t commented on Nathaniel showing him the branding before and didn’t seem interested in helping liberate the deputies so he assumed it would be fine.

Jason reached out his hand quickly to stop Nathaniel, as he saw what was about to transpire. ”No! Not her! We actually have a way to awaken her and she’s a friend.” Jason then quickly wrapped the lasso around Diana’s hand sensing John’s urgency of if they were going to do something they’ed need to be quick about it. Whilst holding the other end of the lasso he knew how it and its magic worked. ”Recite who you are and what you are! The Lasso compels you!” Jason ordered, he knew this trick would t work on most, but he also knew that Diana had a unique bond with the artifact, just as Excalibur would recognize its owner if given to King Arthur, and would have a similar affect. As artifacts of this nature seemed to carry some sort of memory. It’s also this reason why Jason didn’t want Nathaniel branding Diana, that and it’s generally a bad idea to violate -any- amazon. He would wait for the lasso to work he also was using his magic, to try and amplify its effects.

Diana saw movement as two silhouetted shadows spilled out along the floorboards entering into the store. Still frozen, she could not move a muscle however, she was able to observe everything that passed before her. The conversation heard was muffled but the jest of panic came across clearly from the man who left her in this frozen state. The movement of someone else who had made their presence known was now standing before her, holding out their hand to her forehead. Not being able to move made the situation sketchy. All she could do was stare straight at this newcomer, uncertain precisely of what he was about to do. No way to scream, no way to fight back. She did not like this outcome. ”So you might feel a slight pinch and then sudden burning in your brain. Don’t worry, it won’t kill you.” Something began to tingle along the hand placed along her forehead. When a voice cried out into the air, ceasing the movement of the one standing before her. ”No! Not her! We actually have a way to awaken her and she’s a friend.” Sapphire eyes darted off to the side, to watch another individual approach her as the tingling sensation began to flow from her brow and down to her extremities. This warmth, felt like her energy starting to return to her. Diana couldn't tell if she could feel movement from her fingers or if it was a phantom sensation taking over. Before she could make heads or tails of the weird feeling, she saw something vaguely familiar being wrapped around her. Her full attention was now on the golden lasso that had been taken out of her possession earlier to apprehend a creature that had caused chaos in town. ”Recite who you are and what you are! The Lasso compels you!”Light surged from the lasso compelling Diana to speak the truth. Whatever darkened shroud that had been the facade seen by others melted away as she spoke these words, "I am Diana, Princess of Themyscira, the Lasso of Hestia compels me to reveal the truth." A brilliant ray of light, washed over her, removing the veil that had blinded her from who she was and what she represents. Her eyelids fluttered shut, as she took a breath feeling the spell's magical effects dispel instantly. Whatever other spell that had been on her, seemed to vanish in an instant. Upon reopening her eyes, Diana looked between the trio of men curiously in a brief moment before turning to the man holding onto the lasso, "Jason?" Knowing that there must be a valid reason as to why he had her lasso and as to why she was wrapped up in its tethers. "What's going on here?" Her gaze fell past Jason and over towards John Constantine. Before trading a glance towards the other soul in the room she did not know. Something obviously was going on, and she needed to get to the bottom of it.
