 13 retained a blank expression on her face as Shinji complained, until he said that they should have completed their mission more quickly and efficiently. It was irrelevant whether Shinji was comfortable, but saying that she had performed her duty incompetently... 13 gave a small bow, "I'm sorry. Please forgive my slowness; I am working to become a faster kunoichi."
Then Shinji turned the topic towards the end goal. "There are pills that cause corruption. The Ark nine was likely trying to capture you for due to your ability to study them," 13 said, repeating what she'd heard before the mission had started. "We also need your help to study these same pills."

Shinji glared at Thirteen with an expression of confusion, no, he was mostly staring as if what Thirteen had said was logically idiotic, I mean it was wasn't it? A pill that Corrupts people wasn't possible under logical standards, it completely violated any forms of information that was uncovered by every Researcher he knew, even his own Research specifically debunk the possibility to contain this so-called Corruption in such a manner remotely similar to what Thirteen had informed him of.
"Your claim is idiotic, it is impossible under any scientific and medical standard for such a thing to exist."
Shinji was indeed prideful but he had the capabilities to back up this prideful attitude, but for a brief moment he was somewhat curious as to what Thirteen meant by, We, it wasn't just her that had this apparently false claim, but more people? Doctor somewhat assume that the noun referred to Thirteen companions, the one that assisted her in their previous brawl.
"This we, are you referring to your previous comrades?"

13 didn't seem to care at all about Shinji's insults and when she spoke, was as stoic as ever.
"There are others, Kinoki and Fubuki. There is a girl we gave to them. She took the pill and grew a tail. I don't know how the corruption works, but that's what I saw. If its impossible then, do you think the pill is just a trick?" Her mind had gone straight to what she was used to, deception was commonly employed on the battlefield, so perhaps the pill wasn't what it appeared to be.

A trick was a possibility, Ninja's growing limbs wasn't an impossibility but he was only familiar with such a thing through specific Clans or even more specific situations. Shinji cupped his chin as he ran the situation in his head, it should be impossible for Corruption, no, for a mutation through Demonic nature to emerge through something like consuming some sort of drug, being able to package something like this was just...Impossible, right? Shinji closed his eyes as he thought about the situation deeply.
"Show me this person, I need to confirm this situation with my own eyes, if such an objective was brought up just for me then this certainly must be something worth investigating."
