"You might have. It's not nearly as fun to drink alone." He flashed the other man a soft smirk as he shifted to grab the bottle of wine so that he could top his own glass off. The two men complimented each other well enough that they'd have things to talk about throughout the evening, catching up on each other's lives and possibly playing a hand or two of cards, if not a board game if it came down to it before it was time to sleep.
The fire was an added bonus to the company, the warmth soothing and the flicker of the flames comforting in a way he wasn't certain he'd ever be able to explain. "To us, then-- and whatever additional hell the rest of this year might bring before it's over, hm?"
