She had to be talking to him, but... Any sort of reaction from Leeroi was cut short by their Lieutenant getting lost in a sea of daywalkers. "Lieutenant!" Leeroi shouted, using his gun to bludgeon the zombies in his path. Taking a shot would be too risky with Eostre in the actual line of fire.

Cpl. Psykgi MenthaWell this was not a good start. Psy refused - utterly refused - to be brought down by daywalkers again. She still had daymares of it. The lieutenant, on the other hand, was probably fine. She was a grown up - she could handle it. Psy had to take care of herself and her own: She swiped out at the daywalkers with her axe, managing to give herself some space. And, just like that, their leader fell into the crowd of walking corpses. "Eostre!" Mera couldn't help her shocked outburst. More startlingly, it worried her to see Eos be taken off-balance like this. A capable adult she barely even trusted. Guess that was rapport for you.
Leeroi was quick to go after her, but his shotgun could only do so much. Psykgi seemed to just be keeping them off of her own self. Telling.
"Ma'am! Follow my voice! Leeroi- you take that side, I'll be on this one."
She pushed through the masses, boomerang held up defensively along her arm. There was little to do but try to elbow the daywalker and escape while she could. The daywalker stumbled back and she punched it in the face, just enough so that she could put some space between her and the crowd of zombies surrounding her. Furore and Hemera called to her, and headed her way, helping to clear some space for her arms to swing.
Eostre couldn't let herself be taken again, leaving her squadron to deal with the horde on their own. She was able to handle herself just fine, but being unable to assist was annoying. "Hemera! Furore! Be careful, they're grabby as hell," she said, pulling away from another trying to catch her.

He was having significantly less trouble with these zombies, which seemed to be incredibly focused on their smaller leader. Hemera's command only served to distract Leeroi further. He followed her orders, if only because he wanted to prove his strength and not piss her off more. Looking back, Leeroi saw Psykgi fighting daywalkers all on her own. He couldn't help but call out to her. "You doing alright over there, Psy?" zom count: 11

Psy was managing to keep the daywalkers at bay, but every time she swung, they dodged. She'd been backed into one of the walls and a few of them had laid grimy gross hands on her, but they hadn't gotten a good grip and she was still standing. That was a plus. "They're so fast!" she exclaimed, as another strike went astray. She saw an opening and lunged out of it, managing to break free from the gaggle. There, more space. In space. She retreated towards Eostre. "What's in these things?!" How could they be so different from the daywalkers she'd fought on other ships? "Well, they were the empress's top forces," Mera called out to Psykgi. It made enough sense to her that even the lowliest janitor would prove to be a headache. She continued fighting through. Mera cut through neck after neck, making more of a path towards Eostre. Once she was there, she went back to back with Eostre. "I've got you, ma'am." Hemera continued to clear out the masses that came in on her own side. Between her efforts and Leeroi's, the remainders were depleting quickly.
But, there will still remainders. Too far for Mera to reach without throwing, but if she did, Leeroi might get sliced, too.

With Hemera at her side (or at her back, really), she finally felt she had the breathing room required to fight properly. "Great job, Hemera," she said, her voice swelled with some genuine pride. Even when she was unable to do much, she saw that her sergeant didn't hesitate or falter. That was the kind of troll she wanted with her, the reason she picked Hemera out of all the recruits. She knew that this girl would be what she needed.
Still struggling to fight, Eostre at least managed to push aside the few daywalkers that came close, keeping them off of Hemera. Enough someone else could get them.

The ongoing damage from these stack.) "Got it!" Leeroi fired at the final three zombies, taking them all down in a single blast. He pumped a fist in the air, for a small victory. Leeroi was beaming with pride, pleased to make it through such a big crowd of zombies. Then, he offered fist bumps all around. Things were starting to feel a bit more comfortable, with some regular fighting in the mix. Leeroi did his best to keep that battle high going, despite the confusing social situations.

Well that made sense, but Psykgi wished they would have had the decency to die a little more permanently. She got out of the way of the shooting and put a fist in the air in celebration. "Great job!" she said bumping fists and seemingly unphased by the fact that she hadn't done much in that battle. Hey! She was alive, they all were alive, and the overall mood was better. Why shouldn't she celebrate a little? She peered down the next passage. "Looks like an empty hallway up ahead." Of course, it might not be, but for now it was empty... Hemera, one of the last to do fist bumps, holding back a bit. Regularly, she just wouldn't, because it wasn't her style. But...right now, it would basically be a snub. Back into the hell cycle. And she was sick and tired of that. Instead, she raised a brow at the fist bump offer, then shifted that gaze to Leeroi. Neutral-faced, her hand came up for the softest, fastest bump.
But as she turned away to continue on, a noticeable half-smile on her face in those moments before she turned fully away from him.
"An empty hallway, corporal? Let me check."
Hemera prepped her bracelet. She took in some readings. "It should be clear. Good choice, Psykgi."

Finally, at the end, there was a yawning entryway. An open space. Not quarantined. Momentarily wary, she checked her ring again. No signs of anything still. Okay. Mera stepped into the room. She looked around, at the lack of dust, how absolutely abandoned everything appeared. Nearby, she did spot something. It looked nifty, if not old. Perhaps of use, and if not, worth being put in a technology museum.
She returned with it in tow. "I found a scanner. It barely works, but maybe it will be something to take back with us. Nothing else of worth appears to be in there, from what I could tell. An empty room, but some loot be scouted from it. A pleasant change from zombies at least. But they had to continue on. Eostre walked ahead from the room, and stopped at the door. "Another door, friends. Think we got more hostiles behind this one as well?" she asked, a bit facetious as she tapped the door. Of course there was. When wasn't there?

Instead, he stuck a tongue out, and continued to pump his fists in the air, until they reached another closed door. "I sure hope so," Leeroi said, regarding Eostre's question. Hemera would be able to tell them for sure. "I've seen these types of doors before. It looks rigged with a trap, probably locked too." He warned the older troll.

"Why are they always locked," she mused as she opened the panel to disable the trap. At least she never had to worry about that part of the door. She could do that with her eyes closed, removing the wires until the buzzing stopped. Easy peasy.
The lock on the other hand. She stuck her knife back into the door jam, and pressed on it. And nothing happened. She tried again, and the lock made no noise. Hm. "Not on this one, I guess," she said with a sigh. Her shoulders would ache later.
