As if in response, Sam shot a leg off with his weapon as the massive spider screeched, and then the entire room shook again as it tried to find its balance. "Mark," he shouted, "Get a hold of yourself. Spiders don't screech."
Sam was possibly, not very good at priorities.
The Mark Rep had rescued was now being slowly enveloped in the mass of spiders, and didn't bother moving at all, as per usual, a little more than glorified dead weight.
"I'm going to try something," Sam suddenly said, grimacing a bit. "And nobody is going to like this." Before Rep could say what it was, he was shooting another massive spider leg, the original he tore off already regenerating, and backing up quite a bit. "Mark, she's -."
Pain arc in Rep's mind, ricocheting the second Sam said those words, and even the spider recoiled and Mark, was it all of them or just one, screamed something wordlessly and Rep's head was all agony and the feeling of something horrific missing all over again, the same feeling when he had been lead to the cages-
- And the spider began to melt, to visibly melt until it was ashes and on the ground was a picture of Mark and - , standing next to each other and they looked nearly identical, dressed in the same familiar Life lab coats. Mark was holding a green lightsaber, and they a blue one, and someone's finger was covering half the lens and-
- The construct shattered and they were back in the room, and Mark finally exhaled, doubling over as his whole body shook as he cried quietly and involuntarily.

Rep felt helpless and overwhelmed and in the moment was deeply, deeply glad he had Sam with him who had at least some idea of what they needed to do. He moved to sweep some of the spiders off of Mark but found them quickly replaced, racking his brain for some way to actually ******** help. He didn't object to the other man experimenting, but realised fleetingly what it had to mean before it fractured and was replaced by the feeling of absence.
The spider melted an in its place was a photo, one he'd never seen before but which made him realise something he'd suspected glancingly but which now was something he knew.
Everything fell apart and they were back, and Rep without thinking, without needing to think, moved to put a silent hand on Mark's shoulder and said nothing about what happened, not about to damage the other man's dignity, because in spite of what everyone else generally thought, he considered Mark to have dignity, right deep down in guarded places and those places deserved to stay that way. "We are back bro." he said, "It'll be fine in a minute" Because, tellingly, his own response to hurt, pain or grief was to push it down until it couldn't reach him and pretend it wasn't there, and he assumed everyone else in the world was the same.
He looked around for Sam again.
"The next?" he asked with a bit of concern.

Sam too, didn't know how to deal with Mark, and was just giving him a ten foot berth, as if dealing with a radioactive object. The Death assistant had at least stopped now, and was just hunched over in a very Mark-like heap on his desk, in one of those many moments where it was impossible to tell if he was even alive in his bundle of coat.
"We need to hurry," Sam continued, gesturing towards the other two. "I hate that I'm saying this, but we'll save time if we split up. You take one, I'll grab the other - all you have to do is jar them out of their - ."
It would have been helpful if Rep could hear the word. It was very likely he had a good assumption of what word that should be, it wasn't like he had forgotten his entire division name after all, but the feeling of Fear that came with that specific word was simply not there.

Rep gave Mark a gentle sort of rub on his shoulder again, genuinely concerned about the other man but aware time was probably short at the moment. It was shitty he didn't have longer to do something and potentially ask, but he knew he wasn't in an ideal place himself right now, every time he tried to think of anything finding himself up against a confusing twist of a word he should ******** know or at least understand.
"I'll deal with the Boss." he said grimly. With Cael anything could be the problem, anything at all. It sounded like he was being brave but really Cael could also be the easier of the two, if Circe had anything to say about where he was.
"You okay with helping Oz?"

"Oh good," Sam sighed in relief, "I was trying to give you a choice, but I really didn't want to volunteer myself for The Shining." He gave Rep a quick thumbs up, sucked in his breath as if he somehow needed it and then-
- And then Rep was standing in a white room.
It was difficult to tell if the room was even a room at all, it was just endless white, floors, ceilings, walls. There was also a noise, a strange high-pitched note that persisted above and beyond his auditory senses. It was just him inside the room.

Rep was disorientated at first with where he found himself, his brain for a few moments struggling to make sense of the whiteness, seeking in vain for some landmark, some hint of scale, the edge of a wall, the shadow of a corner. It was almost impossible to tell if the room was impossibly large or impossibly small, and that in itself was distressing.
The sound that was felt more than heard set him on edge, seeming just off enough as to be sinister.
"Sir?" he called out of habit, before amending it to. "Caelius?"

"You're here early," she said, simply appearing into the room. In one hand was the cage with the bird in it, and she held her other towards Rep. "Shall we?"

Rep raised an eyebrow. "Early for what?" he asked, but, like always he did not stubbornly dig in his heels to assert control by refusing to comply, instead reaching out to take her offered hand.
As far as he was concerned, anything she wanted to do to him, she could probably have already done, and he genuinely wanted to help Cael and her if there was any way that he even could.

She had that smile she always did, and for a moment it looked a little bit sad, but then there was a crack-
- and the white simply shattered around them like sheets of ice.
The first thing Rep got perhaps, was that they were on a tower of some sort, not unlike the original horsemen tower. It was open, murky grey skies above, and next to them a glowing red crystal, massive, larger than even the lighthouse tower on Deus. The tip of it cut a hole in the center of the structure, and streamed red all directions.
But before Rep could ask, she moved away, and brushed fingertips against the crystal, and it too shattered and was replaced by a sword, and again shattered - a staff - shattered- a throne - a tree - a mirror -
- And then finally, a sealed white cage. Very hesitantly, she placed her hand around the cage, and it simply unraveled-
- To reveal a simple weapon underneath. There wasn't much to look at, it was just a weapon made of what looked like liquid shadows at the edges, and where they did not escape the rest were contained by an ornate golden trim.
"I see." she said, but it didn't look like she was scared at all as she approached the weapon, running her own fingers along the familiar curved blade.
And then she grasped the hilt of the weapon in one hand - and it was no longer her but the Death division lead holding the weapon pointing it right at Rep. The humming was stronger, sharper now, and Rep could still hear her voice.
'What a truly unfortunate ending.'

Rep watched the scene unfold before him, as always trying to follow what he was seeing. He’d been there on the shore when the tower had been obliterated and the resemblance of this place to that one was almost subliminal.
The red was the colour he’d always associated with the Horsemen. Destruction.
The cage had been opened, it had contained something. He knew it had to do with something but his head ached. He knew it probably shouldn’t have happened.
“Is this your fault?” He asked, unable to keep the edge of irritation out of his voice. But then he realised that a really really ******** dangerous weapon was being aimed right at him.
“Please say you can’t see me.” He said, panic replacing any outrage.

If he could hear Rep, he gave no signs, but he could indeed, see Rep-
- As the scythe sliced into Rep and there was pain - sharp and wrenching-
-And Rep was back in the classroom. Sam was in the middle of cajoling Mark to get out of his slump, Mark had his arms clearly fastened onto his desk in refusal, and Oz was just looked bored. About two of the three of them did look at Rep as he bodily fell onto the floor.
"Great," said Sam casually, as soon as Rep was ejected, "Guess its time to go full team Inception."
"I refuse." Mark and Oz actually managed at the same time, and then looked at each other in surprise then annoyance.
"Preaching to the choir," Sam muttered, gingerly walking around the desk. "Hey Rep, anything you want to tell us about how you ended up ah, outside.

Rep froze up in horror at Cael looking at him, knowing what was going to happen, even as it did. He cried out in startled agony and very quickly found himself face down on the floor.
"Ouch." he said, because he felt it was warranted, and rolled onto his side. He wasn't even mad at the floor, it felt good to be on a floor alive after the very real feeling he had that it might not be an option ever again back there.
"And we are going back in?" he said, giving the others a look, without bothering to get back up.
"I got out because he .." and he put his hand to his chest where the scythe hit him. "well he used a weapon on me I guess. Kind of ******** hurt."

"No wait, hang on-" Mark interrupted, teetering, as if drunk, off his desk, "I never agreed to-"
- Red again. Red-grey now. The same almost horseman-like tower, where the original incident had occurred. The good news was that Caelius looked like he always looked, whatever the most recent memory of him had been for anyone present. The bad news that there was still something so very wrong with his weapon, the way it shifted, almost pure shadows now as it sensed their arrival.
It took Sam a long second to digest this before he inched just a tiny bit forward. "I hate this," he muttered under his breath, and then said as casually as he could and then shouted - "Hey, this isn't real. You're already dead here."
This time, oddly enough, Rep could hear everything Sam had said, and it seemed a little mediocre for something that had caused him so much uncertainty.
But the Death lead didn't speak, or even recognize those words, he just continued to move forward, weapon still drawn-
- "Plan B," Sam said, turning around to realize Mark and Oz had already summoned their own weapons. "If this doesn't work, we should probably bail."
Mark turned to Sam as if he wanted to say something, the grip on his weapon loosening for a second. OOC gaia_crown VS SOME GUY AND HIS CONTROLLING GIRLFRIEND HP: 113/113 Special ability: Fear absorption: All weapon holders are unable to gain Fear charges from any successful hits.

"I think its more like.. he ******** is death here." Rep said helpfully. But the return to the world outside prior to this fight had given him a bit of confidence. Sure he might get beaten but he wouldn't die.
Probably.
He probably wouldn't die.
He summoned Tracey to hand. "What it takes to bail isn't pleasant." he said. "Come on Boss. <********: 60/60 DMG: 7

"Yeah sure," Sam shouted back," firing two slower gunshots at his boss. "Doesn't mean he isn't technically dead here."
"Um, actually," Mark rasped, trying to find his voice again, "We only nee-"
- He barely managed to glance a hit in before also his boss moved, slicing the weapon - her - in a low arc hit him, and he was sent reeling backwards, nearly falling into the gaping hole still in the center of the tower. "Need to like, get out of here."
Oz was next, taking an opportunity to attack while everyone showed some quality boss appreciation time.
And then Caelius stopped moving.
"I like swear," Mark finally said, having caught his voice again, gripping the handle of his weapon tightly now, "If he says anything about this not being his final form, I'm totally out."
Or rather, the Death lead stopped moving for just moments, and then as if listening to someone very intently, buried the weapon, tip of the arced blade first, into the ground.
Seconds later, columns of massive black shadows arced all directions, taking a crystal-like consistency. They instinctively moved like they knew, shifting into different crystal-like shapes as they hit each target. A snake, a spider, a tree branch, and then a-
