Lorata speared the last gerbil on the blade of her partisan then flung it away from herself and her team mates. Finally, the battle was done. When she got back to base, she was going to make some very strong arguments against allowing soldiers to bring pets onto space ships in the future. This was proof it could only go wrong.
"Deimos. Check the monitors." She lifted a hand to her communicator, ready to contact headquarters with what result he found.

Deimos assess the ship HP: 12/20
Finally- the gerbils were gone. But the dark areas of the room still seemed to flicker or twitch as if things were inside them. Was that a pair of eyes staring at him from under a desk? No- no. He scrubbed at his face, feeling his pumper speed up. He needed to get back to Alternia. Without waiting to hear from Lorata, he pushed himself out of the corner he'd gotten into and strode to the control room- they all seemed to have the same layout. He knew how to turn them on by this point.
Disappointment hit him like a tonne of bricks when the error lights started flashing. Grumbling in frustration, he pushed himself away from the control desk and stalked back out of the room. "It's a dud."
2 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. As the screens boot up however, dozens of red warnings and errors flash across the screen. It seems like there has been critical damage to the ship in multiple places. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.
