Just a few more. Stryke could handle a few zombies. His team mates had done an excellent job getting the ball rolling, he could clean this up without much fuss. Adjusting his fighting stance, he moved in to clear up the remaining daywalkers in their current hoard.

Several slashes later, he wiped his blade clean on his jeans as he gazed at the now lifeless creature. They could proceed on now at least.

3 - You advance through the ship ...

Forward, forward, keep moving forward. Was each ship more stressful than the last? Was any of these situations necessarily worse than the others? It was more like they were all the most awful thing ever in their own way.

He was feeling the sting in his arms now, thankfully thickly wrapped and unlikely to cause him true problems. His middle was more tender and starting to ache from the constant tension of muscles, the jerky and sharp and uncoordinated motions pulling at it. The way it ached and little bursts of it echoed in his limbs as they moved.

Hold the staff close so he’s less likely to trip and poke how eye out. Or anyone else’s.

Keep moving.

Eilidh felt tired. All this exploration was exhausting... so very exhausting. Yet, here she was... with strangers... exploring ships that were filled with zombies, boss creatures, traps and.... death. Still, she pressed on with her party members... hoping she wouldn't have to use her power. She would if she really need to... she didn't want one troll to get hurt.

Static flinched back. 9 zombies?! He looked over at his teammate, the tealblood girl. "Hey! Perk up!" He said, he himself trying to sound perky. "We got this, itll be okay!" Static then moved in front of the girl, in a defensive formation. "I wolnt let anything bad happen to my team."

Enough was enough. Stryke's eyes narrowed on the nine different zombies that had shuffled towards them. Their lifeless gaze and grasping hands made something deep inside him wretch. Anger boiled inside the pit of his stomach. They should be resting..not shambling around trying to find things to feast on.

From his pocket, he produced his artifact he always kept close. The wind-up pocketwatch always had charges of energy stored inside it. The compressed beam if used properly could sheer his targets at will. It took time to recharge, but it never ran out. Raising it up, pressed the button to unleash it upon the gathered zombies.

Click.

The firing sound of the laser resounded as it shot forward, in its wake seven different daywalkers crumpled, pierced by the strong force of the brilliant yellow and white light. Carefully he closed it again, returning the item to his pocket as he wore a hint of a smile, pleased by the results.

Nictor’s breathing was short but he paused, idling in his anxious state to watch as Forger cut down most of the pack with some sort of laser beam from a something in his hand. Something rather innocuous honestly. A fun tidbit to think about alter, worrying what small trinket or item someone might have that packs a laser. Good. Great.

How was he finding more things to worry about in his day to day life while in space. The conditions should be incongruous for this to be happening.

More dead trolls. More dead trolls re-dead on the ground and two dead trolls grabbing for his ar-

No. No that’s all the dead trolls are re-dead on the ground and Nictor was sucking breaths in and out like someone gasping for air after drowning. Don’t mind that now.

Static watched Stryke strike the incoming zombies, and his eyes went wide. He was supposed to be looking for the correct direction, but really, the blueblood was completely distracted. Senpi~ his thinkpan seemed to think, complete with rosy overlay and sparkles. "The-that was really, uh, really, amazingandcool!" Static just had to force the words out of his mouth before he became too shy and clammed up again.

The blueblood turned back, both hiding his blush and looking for the right direction.

Oh nice! Static found a door! Eilidh moved to inspect the door with her party members. She wondered if it was trapped or if it was unlocked. She then moved to check more into the door, wanting to see if it was locked or not. She frowned as she realized it was locked. How frustrating. They'd get it open though.. just you wait.

Static stood in front of the lock and racked his thinkpan for the instructions he had only had time to gloss over. It was... something about tumblers, or maybe tumbling, fumbling? There were several things he had heard about. The boy took out one of the random tools in his lockpicking kit, something he had been given for just this sort of job.

It took a few moments of watching Static prod and push at the door for it to register that he should step in. Nictor had already played this part a couple times and he wasn’t fond of it, but it was something he could do, he needed to not stand there and watch right now. With effort, he regained some measure of presence to what was going on and finally carefully pried his fingers from his bo staff and collapsed it back down. The nerves in his hands felt like they were still vibrating from the force of the grip he’d had, and the shaking wasn’t likely to go away. That wouldn’t get in the way of what he was about to do.

“I-” Nictor started, but choked, nearly zoning out but narrowly shaking off the floating feeling. “I c-c-c---an. Uh. I-if. If ahmm-”

Nope, words weren’t working, his throat felt too tight, tongue too heavy. He hummed in frustration and lightly, gently, barely a touch with terribly shaking hands, he guided Static out of the way.

And with little preamble slammed his shoulder into the door in what may have been an attempt to brain himself, it looked like he tripped there at the last moment, but he managed to snag a hand on the door way and not go crashing into the next room with the metal door.

Ouch.

A dark citrine yellow blush lit up Stryke's face as he registered Static's words. The bluebloods open praise for him made heat burn his features, taken off guard. His calm, cool act was flawed as he struggled for the right words to say. "Oh. T..thank you." He murmured sheepishly as he rubbed his neck with a shy smile.

Strange emotions and feelings aside, he had a job to do. Clearing his throat and looking away he tried to concentrate. If anything, he could get his work done. The art of breaking and entering..as well as disarming elaborate systems. His extensive training as a child had already come in handy several times. However, he couldn't do everything. While he felt bad the taller yellowblood bashed into the door for them, it gave him the opportunity to make his way over to the trap mechanism an get to work on it.

With a bit of patience and effort, he fiddled with it until the trap system went offline. Wiping a line of sweat from his brow he exhaled loudly with a small sigh. "Clear." He called out.

This is a mini-boss battle, the full rules and mechanics of which can be reviewed here.

The room beyond the door seems empty from the hallway, but stepping inside you are swiftly aware that you are not alone! For lurking in the corner is a dark groaning shape. As it turns towards you, you realize you are entering strife!

You have encountered a ...

Dice 1

2. ... Grotesque... (-1 to all attacks)

3. ... Rotting... (+1 to all attacks)

4. ... Skeletal... (-1 on all accuracy rolls)

Dice 2

1. ... Armoured... (only 3 players per turn may use a special artifact/ability/item)

2. ... Oozing... (-1 to weapon attacks that deal less than 6 damage)

3. ... Disemboweled... (-5 miniboss HP)

4. ... Swift... (players take 2x the amount of damage on their first turn)

Dice 3

1. ... Daywalker Captain!

2. ... Zombie Gerbil Pack!

3. ... Mutated Daywalker!

4. ... Undead Slime Lusus!

MINIBOSS STARTING HP: 20/20

If you rolled a 1, take 4 dmg.

If you rolled a 2, take 4 dmg.

If you rolled a 3, take 3 dmg.

If you rolled a 4, take 3 dmg.

If you rolled a 5, take 2 dmg.

If you rolled a 6, take 2 dmg. Your attack this turn does double damage.

If all party members reach 0hp, look below:

You must make a tactical retreat! Scrambling back out of the room,

you barely make it to the pod with all your limbs attached.

Better luck next time! You have retreated from your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

If the mini-boss reaches 0hp, look below:

If this is your first mini-boss fight look below:

If a member of your team is a trained Discipline or Endurace specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can close your eyes and draw on inner reserves to keep going. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.

If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Restore 1d10+3 OR 1/3rd (rounded down) of your hp.

If you are a Novice in your skill: Restore 1d8+2 OR 1/4th (rounded down) of your hp.

If you are training your skill: Restore 1d6+1 hp.

You cannot roll the dice then choose the flat restoration, one must be picked beforehand.

If a member of your team is a trained Troll Relations or Leadership specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can manage to cheer, rally, or cajole your teammates into finding more energy. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.

If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+3 (rolled separately) hp.

If you are a Novice in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+2 (rolled separately) hp.

If you are training your skill: Each team member restores 1d4+1 (rolled separately) hp.

If this is your second mini-boss fight, you have reached the control room! Roll 1d4 and look in the spoiler below:

1 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the ship away.*

2 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. As the screens boot up however, dozens of red warnings and errors flash across the screen. It seems like there has been critical damage to the ship in multiple places. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.

3- The ship refuses to power on, even after you follow headquarters instructions to make sure they are plugged in, and hitting ctrl-alt-del. It looks like something core is not functioning. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.

4- Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the boarding vessel away.*

If any troll in the party has helmsman authority, they can steer the ship to given coordinates, then return to the boarding vessel with the rest of the team.

Congratulations! You have completed your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

Static summoned the power he had in his body, the electricity. He attacked before he had fully summoned the electricity, just to get an attack in and make it sink. The blueblood hit the monster first, his quarter staff dealing a good hit to the thing, before he really focused on his next attack, his powered attack.

The electric power came up, coursing through his body. It gave him a good feeling, a, and excuse the pun, electric jolt, as if his body was charged and ready to go. The static, the electricity, felt so good to the blueblood. Natural, even. It also felt pretty good to have electricity without having a weasel there to suck it all away.

Eilidh was so done with this ship. As the Boss creature made itself visible, each troll began to attack it to whittle its health down. Eilidh was just... plainly put, done. She frowned, moving to really whack the crap out of the boss creature... Not even with her friendship but with a bit of anger.. something that wasn't all too usual for Eilidh.
