Polair wasn't sure of what was going on, but tried to follow orders as best she could. So when Static had said to get out, she did so even if she didn't like it. What? She couldn't do anything to defeat it? Is that what their captain thought? Polair sure hoped it wasn't.

Engrav checks the hallway for daywalkers

Hallway after hallway filled with flickering lights and daywalker moans had begun to blend together in Engrav's thinkpan. He was starting to think they'd never escape. He couldn't help but dwell a second on Static and Tevini. Was he the only troll that wasn't special? Even his old friend Caiden had been hiding a power, and Engrav was starting to feel like he was just another troll in a sea of normal faces.

His thoughts were interrupted by growls and hisses from behind them. Engrav jumped a little, and called out to the other trolls. "Look out! We've got company!"

"Engrav!" Tevini's eyes widened as she turned to look and saw the yellowblood approached by three zombies. Sure it wasn't an overwhelming amount but they'd managed to sneak up on them really close before being noticed. She didn't even have time to react before she was grabbed too and slammed against one of the walls. Wincing, Tevini struggled to try and free herself so she could grab her weapon but failed.

Engrav attacks the Daywalkers

Engrav tried to turn and face the zombies, shambling up from behind him, but found himself caught helplessly in one of the thing's arms. Gog, the thing was strong! He tried desperately to free himself, but couldn't get the leverage he needed to escape. Static was nearby though, and Engrav called out to him "Static! Please! Get this thing off me!"

With a sigh of relief the blueblood hit the remaining zombies away, to whatever dark carnival they crawled out of. It was so nice to have an empty, safe corridor to walk down now. Sure, there were squishy, gushy parts under everyone's feet, that was ten times better than having that squish upright an attacking.

The blueblood took a second to catch his breath, then looked his team over. They had all been fighting zombies together, and no one was exactly clean, so to speak. There was splatters on everyone, and their uniforms didnt look near as crisp as when they started. "Good job team." Static said, standing back up. "Is, uh, is everyone ready to keep going?"

"Ready as I'll ever be." Polair responded. Suddenly she heard something, or actually... didn't. Unsure, Polair extended her arm in the direction of silence, sending a pulse that way. The sounds would die down if they took a certain hallway and the highblood was taking that risk. Polair absentmindedly walked that way, enticed by the lack of sound as her brain receiving the information of what was around. A door? She signaled the others to follow her.

"It may sound inaccurate but... I found something... An open door." She softly said while she guided them. "I know... It sounds idealistic or perhaps dangerous but--" She stopped her track as the door could be seen. Using her sonars once more to register the door's position, Polair looked back at the group.

"I think we should go in."

"Alright." Tevini followed Polair's idea and headed into the room. One advantage of the seadweller's different way of seeing things was that she sometimes saw things that others missed. Sometimes your mind skimmed over things that you'd seen a million times and you didn't keep your focus up. Polair was always alert when she used her bangles to survey the area, hyper sensitively reviewing the information she found.

"Gerbils?" It turned out that what Polair had felt was the presence of other life on board! Not undead creatures but actual living ones! Surprised, Tevini began to extract a cage of them from the shelf. It might be useful to research what the effects of living out here for so long had done to the creatures. It could be relevant for her future.

Engrav is advancing the party!

Engrav was pretty sure they'd escaped the main body of the daywalkers now, and were getting close to the bridge of the ship. The group advanced through darkened, flickering tunnels until they came to a hatch that looked larger than the others on the ship had. Old and dilapidated, but still holding fast. Engrav looked carefully, but couldn't find a way to open the thing.

Well, its a door all right! Yep, look at that door!

Static frowned at the door. Maybe it was just bad luck, maybe they were cursed, maybe doors were just the natural places for undead things to nest around, but either way, whenever there was a door, there was a large ugly, awful undead monster. Every time. Static sighed. And with a door was usually a lock, or a trap, or, glub bellow, both. The blueblood looked at the door, trying to see if he could tell what was up.

"Here, I'll get it." Tevini saw the discouraged looks on Engrav and Static's faces and pulled out her screw driver once more. She knelt beside the latch and started to unscrew the screws and bolts holding the entire mechanism in place. It was a bit time consuming and not nearly as slick as her last unlocking but it would work. Once the latch was discarded on the ground she packed up her kit once more and gave her team and nod to let them know she was finished.

"We're in."

If all party members reach 0hp, look below:
You must make a tactical retreat! Scrambling back out of the room,
you barely make it to the pod with all your limbs attached.
Better luck next time! You have retreated from your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

If the mini-boss reaches 0hp, look below:

If this is your first mini-boss fight look below:

If a member of your team is a trained Discipline or Endurace specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can close your eyes and draw on inner reserves to keep going. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.
If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Restore 1d10+3 OR 1/3rd (rounded down) of your hp.
If you are a Novice in your skill: Restore 1d8+2 OR 1/4th (rounded down) of your hp.

If you are training your skill: Each team member restores 1d4+1 (rolled separately) hp.

If this is your second mini-boss fight, you have reached the control room! Roll 1d4 and look in the spoiler below:

1 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the ship away.*
2 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. As the screens boot up however, dozens of red warnings and errors flash across the screen. It seems like there has been critical damage to the ship in multiple places. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.
3- The ship refuses to power on, even after you follow headquarters instructions to make sure they are plugged in, and hitting ctrl-alt-del. It looks like something core is not functioning. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.
4- Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the boarding vessel away.*
If any troll in the party has helmsman authority, they can steer the ship to given coordinates, then return to the boarding vessel with the rest of the team.
Congratulations! You have completed your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

Rolling for attack

No... Polair froze up as the oozing and sploshing sounds rang into her ears. Another slime creature, her mind was still fresh on the one she had killed with her own hands. Her breathing pattern quickened as she was taken over her instincts. She wouldn't allow this thing to hurt her friends. So the highblood rushed into action, tightening her grip on her weapon to make sure this time it would not catch her.

Ugh, slime was a bit harder for her to deal with. It tended to just absorb her bullets and wasn't easy to pin down. Tevini fired off a few rounds anyway, figuring she'd at least try to force it's movement while she came up with a plan. Considering her options, the girl looked for an alternative means of wounding the creature. Maybe that filing cabinet could be of us...

"Come on!" The redblood shouted, surprising herself with her courage. She called to the creature to try and taunt it into charging at her. As it did, she waiting until the opportune moment.
